Sandi, I visited the Morningside gallery on 23 January & you had sold 3 paintings already 😍 Unfortunately I was not in a position to buy, but it was so wonderful to see your work in the 'flesh'. The minute I looked at the display I was able to find your work....so distinctive. The gallery owners were so welcoming, allowing me to take photographs......they took one of me next to your art. One of your paintings is in the window! When I can work out how to send you my 'photos I will do so. So thrilled for you Sandi, that you will be in the London Exhibition. You're BRAVE to go outside and paint in that horrid winter weather. I was terrified for your exposed fingees! But you did the MOST. Let's hear it for acrylic's slower drying time in cold/humid conditions. (However, as someone who works at an art supply shop, I do know that acrylics will change texture unfavorably over time if exposed to extreme temp variations, so keep that in mind.) *Also, new subscriber here + recent IG follower and you've been a wonderful inspiration to my own painting practice. Cheers, lady!
I am a wimp and don't like to be cold, so I am pretty sure you won't be seeing me painting in the snow. LOL That said, your sock trick is genius!!! Wonderful video as always, Sandi. Thank you for sharing.

Your art is always fabulous but I was equally in awe with the camera work while you were painting.
I’m shocked that things didn’t freeze while you were out there! I think the humidity may be an important factor, as you said. I live in Colorado (extremely dry), and things often freeze instantly at 20 degrees. I keep horses here, and i”exhilarating” is not the word I would use when I’ve got to be outside. 🤣. I will definitely give the wool sock a try! Thank you!

Yes. I remember the hot mess snow painting sess very well. Lol😅. I'm not sure if it was from the same video where you did approx 6 paintings of outside scenes in the snow but 1 was especially good in how you captured the steel blue atmosphere. This session was very fruitful and can see how satisfying it was. Congrats on all things British for you. Its great to get the global exposure. I love so much of what you do but the still life's are some of my favs. 😊
I love that painting! and you are so inspiring because I know you have some medical issues but you keep taking joy from life. it reminds me to take some risks and do the same, even when I am not feeling 100%. Congratulations on being selected for the exhibition with the Royal Academy! Thanks for putting us onto the Learn to Paint podcast. I've been listening constantly in my studio. The guests are so engaging. I sometimes find myself disagreeing with their point of view which really makes me consider why I make the choices I make. Your videos and that podcast have really been motivating for me. I've just discovered acrylic inks and I am in love. I've decided that 2024 will be a year of experimentation and deep diving into this medium and just generally getting really good at painting. Thanks, Sandi.

Tip: When you wear your shorten fingers handgloves. Make a whole in a large sock. Put your brush through the whole and than pull the sock over your gloves.
Your tips of your fingers will get less cold if its freezing outside.

I remember that Extreme Painting video! It was actually one of my favorite videos and I remember it was posted before the MLK long weekend and it initially had fewer views than usual and you were concerned maybe people didn’t want to see you outside the studio. That was before you made your landscape painting course, and I assume it is apparent now that people like to see plein air work. It looks like working from the tubes is a good solution for you, but it got me wondering if one could buy or rig up some sort of heated palette for working outdoors. I wonder how it would work to stick those self-adhesive hand/body warmers on the bottom of your plastic bin with the little pots of paint. Maybe it would be too warm. Congratulations on the Royal Society of British Artists show! I was thinking wait, what, does she secretly have British citizenship? It never in a million years occurred to me something like that was even open to artists without ties to the UK. It’s too bad you can’t at least go briefly to see it in person.
I can't believe it's open to non Brits too - but it is!

You could use hot hands packs and place them under palette? Your color selection is similar to that classic zorn palette of colors

Yes, hard body liquitex paint is top notch quality paint. Plus, Viridian is a tricky colour but great for ethereal, other worldly pieces.

Have you seen Kevin McPherson's Reflections on a pond series? Pretty loose paintings of the same landscape seen from his dining room window. Some more realistic, some almost abstract. I thought you might like it.

Loved this video. The snow here in Nashville was so beautiful. I think we had 8” here in SW Nashville. I stayed in the house and didn’t have to go anywhere for a whole week. It was bliss!!😁
