I’ve been subscribed to you for a long while now but haven’t watched too many videos. I recently watched one that came up on my front page and I have been binge watching. You have inspired me so much to get back to my creativity. It has been dormant for far too long. I usually do portraits with pen or pencil even though I love colour. I tried to get comfortable with paint within the past couple of years which is a medium I was not too familiar with and gave up due to intimidation. I have so many markers and coloured pencils and watching you play in sketchbooks has motivated me to play and get back to exploring and experimenting and there’s a joy sparked in my heart. Love the fact that you don’t worry that your colors get a bit muddy or changed from dipping your brush in before you clean your brush. I think it makes the finished pick have so much more depth and colors always mesh together so well in the finished piece.

you crack me up....i'm a 'peeler' too.... it all started when i was a kid and i discovered the joy of peeling dried glue off my fingers...and then i got a little obsessed and used to put glue all over my palm, let it dry completely and then peeled away. yes, totally crazy but it was so satisfying. suffice to say, i get the obsession. so glad i'm not alone in my 'crazy'.. lol happy new year sandi and grady, and can't wait to see what you'll cook up in 2024.

Omg the part about peeling the paint is TOO RELATABLE 😂 I can def imagine how satisfying it must be to get one of those big pieces! Curious what the clear-purply-muddy concoction was that you dipped your brush in to near the end, that makes the paint adhere better. Initially thought it might be matte medium. Looking forward to checking out your class on acrylics!

Sandi - I’m spending Saturday morning with you preparing for an art supply run bc my local store has a paint sale. I’m wondering if you have tried Holbein gouache “Chinese Orange” G605. I picked it up on a whim and love it. I think it would work with your palette. Happy painting!
