She sings this so beautifully! I don't like admitting this, but the first I ever heard of Elaine Paige was when Susan Boyle was discovered on "Britain's Got Talent!" I'll not become too proud again about my knowledge of great singers! Forgive me, please, Elaine Paige. Thank you for posting this wonderful song! Love, Liz
@mariadearco1913: Absolutely ❤! I uploaded it to my Facebook page and wrote this: Céline Dion's exquisite rendition of "Hymne à L’Amour" at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony was a true highlight. It's refreshing to see that not all musical performances at such events need to be brash or vulgar to captivate audiences. Thank you for keeping it elegant and classy!
It is an incredible version but it is a version of Edith Piaf’s song who wrote it. It is her song incredibly, for she was not just a great singer but what a wow of a song she left us.
Watching Celine's version in french, and am in process of learning french, I needed to know what the lyrics were. What a beautiful song. Viva la France.
One of Britain's best voices and such a catalogue of great songs and performances, a true star who doesn't get enough Praise for her amazing voice and longevity to stage ,plays, film,TV etc..❤.
+fellow111411 There's no comparison to Edith Piaf's original version in French. She inspired me to learn the French words for this absolutely beautiful song. Never embarrass anybody by comparing them to Piaf!
If the sun should tumble from the sky If the sea should suddenly run dry If you love me, really love me Let it happen, I won't care If it seems that everything is lost I shall smile, and never count the cost If you love me, really love me Let it happen, darling, I won't care Shall I catch a shooting star? Shall I bring it where you are? If you want me to, I will You can set me any task I'll do anything you ask If you'll only love me still When at last our life on earth is through I shall share eternity with you If you love me, really love me Then whatever happens, I won't care If you love me, really love me Then whatever happens, I won't care
Thought Celine was great at the Olympic opening ceremony. Then you watch this performance ..... it's on another level. Sorry Celine, if you stripped away the comeback circumstances and Eifel Tower setting, good, but not as good this this, in my opinion.
& here's Little Miss Dynamite's version way back in 1961. Hope viewers will enjoy this little gem from the era of can can petticoats & hair-sprayed bee hives voila Ms Brenda Lee 😍 😊 ruclips.net/video/HdSohTOGNu8/видео.html
she is better than Celine - singing this song! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Celine does not even come close - the way she sung it was like watching an Juliet and Romeo in real time - so much emotion capturing all your senses !!!
But here , Paige was in good health , at the time younger than Dion currently is and at the peak of her voice. Dion is 56 now and not in the best patch of her life as we all know. The emotional charge behind her performance is what gave it beauty. Troubles affect voices , obviously. every singer has testified to that. It can lead to even total loss of the voice or its quality at least. Callas being a prime example of this.
She sings this song well, but she's no Celine Dion! You have to put in effect that Celine sung the song in its original French while Elaine Paige is singing this in English. You have to compare the health of both Singers too! Ms. Paige looks healthy while Celine Dion is very sick! I still say Celine version is far better than Elaine Paige.
This incredible song has been performed by many wonderful artists over the years and Celine beautifully continued the tradition...she was spectacular!

Elaine Paige is such a priceless talent
Celine Dion singing this in French at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics was simply mesmerizing
Agreed 100%. Compared with all the other performers, she was sheer class.

She Celine was great beyond words
Kind of weird to comment about another person's version of this song here. Particularly since it had just happened when you commented
@@LanceTheDragonMastah Oh grow up, you silly goose! Her comment is appropriate. You must be one very unhappy human being. 🤦🏽♀️
Saw Ms Paige on stage as Piaf. She was amazing. And singing all the great Piaf songs. Amazing voice
She is incredible this is one of her best songs ever!

ELAINE PAIGE IS wonderful - such a great performer -

French words are much better.

C'est très beau, bravo l'artiste!
Quelle belle voix , c'est magnifique !
I’ve been trying to find the English version of this beautiful song…this is it!
You should check out Corey Hart version. A personal favorite.
One of the best voices ever. And, the song!
Since the 2024 olympics I’ve listened to all the versions out there….this is the cream of the crop!
There are singers...there are great singers...and then there's Elaine Paige
Love Elaine Page. Saw her on stage in 2000 London, England in the KING & I. She was SPECTACULAR 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
So beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Sublime she is pure heaven.
Magnificent
I love Elaine Paige but I also love Edith Piaf. If I have to pick one, I must say I love Edith's version more.

+Frederick Rapp I agree no one can sing this song better than Edith Piaf. But without comparison, how can we tell which one is better.
Beautiful!
Beautiful 💕🇨🇦
Beautiful love ❤️ ❤❤❤❤

Mery Septiana Thank you for posting those lyrics, Merry. Appreciated!
French words are much more better. These words are not so dramatic then French, too light.
She sang this same version on the National Lottery when she hosted it way back. but can't find it anywhere.
That was a fantastic Performance [National Lottery]
Don't forget the French singer Mireille Mathieu . She sings Édith Piaf's songs : la vie en rose or l'hymne à l'amour in this show
I really love you ❤❤❤
Dame Shirley Bassey and of course Piaf herself have done it better than everyone !! 💃👏👏
@1:58 simply amazing!!
🙏❤🙏+

Why not that song in French
she is better than Celine - singing this song! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Celine does not even come close - the way she sung it was like watching an Juliet and Romeo in real time - so much emotion capturing all your senses !!!
You are out of your mind

I love this version but I can't stand the strange instrumental at the end.
To me Celine did too much shouting when singing it.
Not great here
Manufactured.
See Piaf or Celine
Sorry, but no. Edith or Celine, perhaps Josh, but this is like musical.
It is!
not even close to Edith.
