There was no stadium… She sang standing on the first floor of the Eiffel tower, it was a real surprise when we heard her singing. Nobody saw her getting on stage. There was rumors all day long rather she would sing or not and as the ceremony was about to end, we thought oh well… What an emotion!
What was brave was the French government asking Celine, from Quebec, to sing an iconic French song made famous by an iconic French singer, at the Eiffel Tower for the opening of the Olympic ceremony in Paris. What was even more brave was Celine saying YES and then performing a rendition that will live on forever!

Seeing that young boy in the video reminded me so much of myself. In 1990, at the young age of 8, I remember the first time I saw Céline on TV. The next day, I made my parents buy me her first English-speaking album, Unison. Since then, I have seen Céline in concert seven times, have followed her career and trajectory, and have shared many life moments with her. My mom passed away on the day that Renée passed away. She will never truly understand how much I truly love and appreciate her.

Apparently there was an article in French Media where she said that she wanted to do it live, and she wouldn't perform unless she was able to do it live. The information apparently came from the Olympic organization itself. So I don't know.

It's been proven that Celine was miming over a pre-recorded, heavily pitch corrected track, and singing into a dead mike. They used software to prove it. You can here Celine's voice in the background. She was very clearly struggling. Look, I understand Celine has a neurological disorder. Nobody holds that against her at all. What people have an issue with is that Celine lied and said the performance was live. She should have told the truth instead.

Apparently there was an article in French Media where she said that she wanted to do it live, and she wouldn't perform unless she was able to do it live. The information apparently came from the Olympic organization itself. So I don't know.

It's been proven that Celine was miming over a pre-recorded, heavily pitch corrected track, and singing into a dead mike. They used software to prove it. You can here Celine's voice in the background. She was very clearly struggling.
Look, I understand Celine has a neurological disorder. Nobody holds that against her at all. What people have an issue with is that Celine lied and said the performance was live. She should have told the truth instead.
