Me & my (now ex) boyf, took our 2 Danish friends to see this in 1995. One of them was HIV positive and he'd always wanted to see a West End show. Elaine was amazing and we (along with everyone else) cried our eyes out, with a standing ovation at the end. The boys returned to Denmark & I wrote to Elaine's manager, explaining about our ill friend, she sent a full-size foyer poster signed in gold with our friend's name. We posted it to Denmark and he wept with joy. He died a week later. Thanks EP
What a beautiful thing for you to do for your friends & for you to contact Elaine’s manager & how lovely of them to sign it for him! That’s just all around beautiful! What a great gift of love for your friend who passed! Thank you for sharing this with us. ♥️🙏🏼
Congratulations to you, Elaine! As a Frenchman. I can say I know Piaf on the fingertips. Your performance is genuinely perfect: everything is there! Not just the voice and the emotion but even the gait and the hairdo. You are truly a great artist!
I am a Frenchman and of course I know every note of Piaf voice - Elaine is so perfect , so awesome ; she is Piaf even when she sings so perfectly in French ,same inflection and power in her voice . I am stunned !
I’m stuck on some musical songs on RUclips the last few days, so I’ve heard quite a few Elaines the last day. This one is by far the best. With other songs I sometimes prefer another performer, but this one is definitely hers. Bravo Elaine.
A wonderful mesmerising performance by the magnificent Elaine Paige. This is one of my all time favourite songs. So many great stars have sung it and this is up there with the very best. What a lady.
I never got to see this production with Elaine Paige, but I saw a regional production of Piaf a few years ago. I have had the CD of Piaf with EP, since it was released and a double CD of Edith Piaf.
Every time I've watched this now, I have upped the volume!! Mon Dieu (my God) This is just brilliant, Elaine Paige!! Not just Brilliant! Exceptionally brilliant!!! Obsessed with this song, No Regrets. The first one is pretty jolly brilliant as well!!
What a great tribute and what a great performance of these two song by the one and only Elaine Paige. The late Edith Piaf is a national treasure in France. And to honor her life and legacy with this play is a testament to her lasting legacy. And how much she meant to people throughout the world. This performance is just Brilliant!
I liked your comment... I too am HIV + since '93, I never heard of Piaf until now (something new to check out), but I got hip to Elaine Paige from Andrew LLoyd Webber's "Cats". I know it by heart and every time I hear Elaine sing "Memories" at the end I cry, it is SO beautiful and heartfelt, especially when Jemima joins in for support with Grizibella. Thank you for sharing your story, it was very touching. You sound like a wonderful person, god bless and take care...
This song brings tears to my eyes especially knowing the life that Piaf went through. This is one of the songs that's tailored made to her life. Thr other two being “Mon Dieu” and the ever famous “Non, je ne regrette rien”!
Quite a few years ago, I had the privilege of seeing Elaine Paige at Hampton Court Palace. She was wonderful (of course). I have always loved "Hymne a l'Amour" and whenever Edith Piaf sings the last verse, the hair stands up on the back of my neck every time. When I saw Elaine Paige sing it live, the hair on the back of my neck stood up throughout the song. That is a great artiste.
Two of my favourite female singers rolled into one lol! Excellent excellent! Elaine is not only a fantastic singer she's also a very talented actress. That was Edith Piaf right there! Her spirit must have enjoyed this performance.
WOW thanks for posting! I saw the original "Piaf" show in London (in the 1990ies I guess, my memory's fading) and with Elaine as Piaf urinating and f*** on stage it was the most amazing and progressive musical production at that time, unfortunately it didn't last that long...
Hi. In fact the original production of Piaf was done by the RSC in 1978 with the sublime Jane lapotaire who re created the role on Broadway and won the Tony....
What a great voice!!!. Piaf is on stage at the Teatro Liceo in Buenos Aires since last spring 2022. The main role is interpreted by Elena Roger who was awarded in London for her Piaf.
if you look at the last frames of this and if you look at her face, and if you hear the crystal voice, you will always be a part of magic. BRAVA ELAINE!
To this day, her performance in Piaf, at the Piccadilly theatre in London's West End, is the of the most overwhelming and Jaw-dropping nights I've ever had at the theatre. She absolutely nailed it 💯%. Still gives me goosebumps watching this clip
A magical tribute to the great Edith Piaf!! The english version of l'Hymne à l'Amour is quite different in the lyrics but still Edith Piaf! And Non, je ne regrette rien, with a english accent very special but beautiful!
SOLO ELAINE PODRÍA INTERPRETAR A ESTA MAGNITUD EL ESPIRITU DE LA PIAF MARCANDO SUTILMENTE EN CADA NOTA, EL TRIBUTO DE UNA GRANDE PARA OTRA. ME HA CONMOVIDO MUCHO, MIL GRACIAS POR COMPARTIRLO...
Anything else I've seen Ms. Paige do, I just could not enjoy it; didn't think much of her. She always came across to me as "acting." This performance, however, earns her the highest of praises. I've watched it a few times and she just blows me away.

I’m weeping

A Superb performance of Edith Piaf by Elaine Paige.
Amazing, Paige makes no attempt to imitate Piaf vocally yet she still captures the spirit her. There's no denying the talent of Elaine Paige!
Elaine was and is a great performer. Her performance in " Cats was wonderful
Congratulations to you, Elaine!
As a Frenchman. I can say I know Piaf on the fingertips. Your performance is genuinely perfect: everything is there! Not just the voice and the emotion but even the gait and the hairdo.

AMAZING tribute to the great Edith Piaf!. Bravo.
Wonderful renditions. I still enjoy today. 2019

How did EP not win the Olivier for this? I can’t believe it. Truly marvelous.
She should have won the Olivier award that year. She was so wonderful as Piaf. Marvellous performance xxx
Elaine, U made beautiful music. Many thanks 🙏.👌👍👏🌹🌹❤️❤️
I watch this performance all the time. These renditions bring chills
Absolutely brilliant ,especially the second song " Je ne regretted rien".Thank you for letting me see it.

First time I have seen this of Elaine it was fantastic I'm in ears, thank you.
She puts real feeling into her singing. She feels each and every word with a passion.
This is just beautiful. She is great here, and yes magical and amazing as Piaf.
Amazing recreation of Edith Piaf chosen by Elaine Paige to bring to the stage.
Two of my favourite female singers rolled into one lol! Excellent excellent! Elaine is not only a fantastic singer she's also a very talented actress. That was Edith Piaf right there! Her spirit must have enjoyed this performance.
Had never heard of Piaf until this. Thank you.
I've adored Piaf since a very young child. This is the most amazing transformation ever seen. She absolutely becomes Piaf.
Wow. She's just magic. Captivating perfection.
One of the best performances of all time, hands down!
This was so beautiful Edith Piafs music was so amazing!!
My god that was fantastic!
it is lovely to see her `become` the singer she is singing, rather than just stand and sing the song
So perfect! Intriguing! She does this very well in her 40 Years on Stage presentation in 09, just so beautiful!
I love Elaine Page, and l never tire of watching her!

She peed and fell? Was that part of the show or accidental?
@@lasktdave I think part of the show. Piaf was very ill with cancer.
My dad introduced me t Piaf in 1950 when I was 10 I'm now 82 and still havnt heard anyone any better she was fantastic.

The song in French is "Hymne a l'amour" (Hymn to Love) and the second song is "Non, je ne regrette rien"
Piaf est la plus grande chanteuse française du 20ème siècle !
Grande chanteuse réaliste. Friendly !
Jean-Pierre Mathieu
Ah at last an actress who sings like Piaf!!!!! Elaine was so so so so amazing in that part!!!
She sounds nothing like her.... that’s not a critique of her ... but a wondering on the comparison...
Such a marvelous performance xx

I keep listening to this over and over - she’s brilliant.
Wow! This is the first time I saw Elaine Page preforming her show. I never thought much about her till now.

How did she not win the Olivier for this role?
Timothy King what’s the Olivier ?
@@claudiusgermanicus9465 It's the London equivalent of the TONY award on broadway, named after Laurence Olivier
It was a ridiculously good year. Patti LuPone for Norma Desmond and Julia MacKenzie for Sweeney Todd (Win and astonishing)
