It seems Madam LuPone has finally been convinced she does not need to hunt down and destroy anyone who posts .001 seconds of video of her on the internet. Maybe we'll finally be able to build that Digital Altar to her she keeps burning down.
I was drinking beer in a small town bar on the the north shore of Lake Superior when this Grammy Awards suddenly appeared on the house TV. Volume turned up when Miss Lupone was announced those of us sitting at the bar all grew quiet when she began to sing --- in a further moment all of the bar's customers & staff stopped whatever it was they were talking about or doing to listen hard in rapt & silent attention. When the orchestra finally faded & her song ended all the truckers, fishermen, skidder drivers & waitresses knew they'd just shared witness to a transcending moment of artistic brilliance.

Just increases the ease of breath support for the voice. Most singers (especially opera singers) prefer to sing in corsets if possible because it makes supporting the 747 of a voice so much easier.
Corsets aren’t supposed to be restrictive unless you’re tight-laced. They’re great for posture. Bernadette Banner and many others have made tons of vids debunking the corset myths.
@@LaDivinaLover That's interesting, I'd assume the opposite because I feel a lot better singing without a bra but that's likely because modern bras and corsets are typically awful 😭
Her presence struck me watching her sing and act in American Horror Story season 11 this year. Having spent my 62 years in Minneapolis I missed out on the New York scene, but still recognized the name. Thank god for RUclips to see what all the fuss was about with this great diva.
If this was in 1989 then she is around 40 years old and I think at her peak of singing. For me this is the best rendition of this song. At her peak she is one of the best ever. A commanding while extremely beautiful voice.
Mics during such performances are hidden in the hairline. It's placed on top of the head, so the cable goes down the back of the head and the mic is in front.
The whole performance just gives me chills, but at 4:00 when she starts getting teary eyed, and the way she delivers the “have I said too much…” and everything after just ugh 😩 she truly is an icon
I had the good fortune to attend a program, when Ms Lu Pone came to Birmingham. Magnificent is the only way, I can describe her performance, when she closed the program with this.
This performance was an FU to Andrew Lloyd Webber for shanking Pattie Lupone in the kidneys when he moved Evita from the London stage to Broadway and completely cut Pattie Lupone off. Pattie Lupone is one of the LAST of the great performers in musical theatre who have/had possessed the training, the talent, and the sheer force of personality to be heard AND seen just as clearly and cleanly in the last seat in the last row of the highest balcony as in the front row center seat of any theatre in the world WITHOUT ANY ELECTRONIC AMPLIFICATION. They don't make them like this anymore. They haven't made them like this in more than thirty years. Pattie Lupone WAS, IS, and always WILL BE "Evita".
This was the very first Grammy Living Legends Award broadcast. Willie Nelson, Liza Minelli and Andrew Lloyd Webber. During the tribute to ALW Denice Williams sang Memory, Patti LuPone sang Don’t Cry for Me Argentina. But the absolute highlight of the entire evening that brought down the house was Sarah Brightman singing Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera. It was beyond memorizing. And the audience went crazy when she finished. She and ALW were still married at the time. He had a difficult time getting out of his seat after watching her performance….
Evita the film came out when I was in grade school so I never understood the big deal about Madonna playing the character. I never saw it and was familiar with the song because of MTV but after watching this performance for the first time, I understand. Wow, what a moving performance.
I vaguely remember her from back in the day. And after watching her award worthy performance in Agatha all along I became interested in checking her out. She is a really brilliant performer. Let’s here it for a best supporting actress nomination And win for the next Emmy’s.
As an overall Artist Mrs Patti Lupone cannot hold a candle to all Madonna has done. Not necessary all the best technique trained voice is also the most pleasent.
Evita's vulnerability really came through during Madonna's role and vocals in the movie. She was perfect for the part period! In terms of actual vocal range, Elaine Paige was the real deal. Patti Lupone sounds like a bad orgasm during menopause.Shouting!!!! She's also a jealous kunt with a look at me I'm bitter grudge on her shoulder. Happy she left Broadway.

Madonna is hardly worried. She received great acclaim for her performance, is frequently cited as being robbed of a nomination, and is one of the richest women in the world because of her talent as an overall artist, not just a vocalist. ALW said Evita is his favourite movie adaptation of one of his musical, mainly because of Madonna’s performance. Why do ‘fans’ need to be so petty and try to put two successful women against each other? I’ve never heard one nasty word from Madonna about Patti, considering Petti Lupone continues to double down on her bitter comments about Madonna. So who is the one with class and dignity?
She doesn't need one....Patti Lupone i's classically trained to sing in a way that the people on the balcony's highest seats are able to hear her without any sort of help from a mic and amplifiers or speakers.
