so i was taught that the refresh rate is really just the monitor refreshing that many times and is not dependent on what the GPU can do . meaning if you have 120hz monitor the screen wil l refresh that many times even if your are only getting 60fps in game.. But at the time we didnt have the Tech we have now in GPUS , the software will now sync refresh rate with the performance of the gpu to get a better gaming experiencing. But there is a difference like you said in 60hz at 60fps Vs 60hz at 120 fps. a lot of ppl are getting confused that they are the same thing or they effect each other but they dont its the really the software saying hay you dont have the performance to utilize refresh rate above 120 so were going to limit it . Great video very easy to understand and informative .

Yep Linus even confirmed it in their video with Shroud. 300FPS on 60Hz is better than 60FPS on 60Hz, at least what comes to input lag and comp gaming. If you like visuals, well...
In MP games its not only about how much your monitor "let frames through" but also about registering you mouse feedback and "feeding"(GPU) it to the display, the more often those states are(higher FPS) the better it is usually. It also depends so much on game engine and how it handles physics, server lag, mouse input etc.
I wish some1 could make a comprehensive video about it and not just "oh u have 30Hz monitor, so lets turn VSYNC ON".

You could argue that 1 is actual character position the other is drawn position for the sake of hit box location though. Cheap background architecture overlayed with smooth drawn local frames? Tricks they use on us to part with our money. But for the sake of quality of experience they need to be in balance with each other. Hit box location in relation to animation are dependent on game architecture & programming quality or lack of in favour of window dressing for initial sales draw. So in theory a faster background refresh rate could register more hits if you can see what your shooting at on a crapy monitor but im only guessing lol. The other way around you could see your target fluidly locally maybe but not get all the hit markers before you even consider internet stability. So on that note ill stick with a console like a scrub with no money lol.

@@GOATGamerProSticks thats why there ar freesync 1 and 2 monitors and Gsync monitors. they kinda fake the max refresh rate to make sure you you get the right FPS. also if you have a 240hz or 144hz monitor its even better to get more FPS then the 240 or 144 that your monitor can max put out. all to do with latency. it wont work on a 60hz or 120hz monitor. i guess you could say it does also work on a 165hz monitor.

If you have the GPU for it yes. But as long as the monitor is 75hz you will never see that high fps.
You have to upgrade the monitor.

But you also have to understand that just because you have a 144hz monitor it does not mean you will get 140FPS. The FPS is still tied to the GPU and to some points the CPU in the case of MMOs.
To when getting a monitor take into account what your GPU can handle.
My GPU for 1080p is monster of a GPU. For 1440p as long as the game did not come out late last year or even this year then I'm good. Example Madden 19 Tomb Raider Final Fantasy 14 I can get really high FPS setting it to 1440p.
Cyberpunk or and fame that comes out this year and next I would have to play at 1080p.

I dont know if ill ever get a reply but ill still ask. I recently got the omen 15 2020 144hz screen, and when i move the mouse quickly, there is still cursor trailing, tho the trail is more tightly spaced compared to a 60hz cursor trail. This is my first time experiencing 144hz so i dont know if this is normal or not. I already checked all settings related to refresh rate and it really is 144hz. My pointer trail setting in the cursor is also disabled from the start. I hope someone replies

I think its exactly how you tell if your monitor is at different refresh rate, im no expert at this and i have just seen it because of this comment.
So i have 2 monitors in front of me, one is 144hz and one is 60hz and i tried wiggling my mouse and seen what this comment is all about
more trails on 144hz and less on 60hz which basically is saying that because 144hz monitor can show you more frames than 60hz, it will show you more trails...
      hope this makes any sense!

@@dashsleigh1078 oh yeah i read this from other sources too. I really thought once you have 144hz, u wont be able to see cursor trailing anymore. But some also say they dont have the same problem. So i guess it boils down to another factor which is the screen response time.

No, it just means your monitor has extra room if you ever upgrade your gpu.

      yes , it's very simple .... if u have a 144 hz monitor it's mean that u u will see maximum in ur monitor 144 fps .

    • @doppel6639
      @doppel6639 3 года назад

@@shadowtx2928 so let’s say we have a 360hz monitor, and let’s say the PC puts out 180fps(half of the hertz). Does that mean that the monitor will only be limited to refresh 180 times, or will it still refresh 360 times but obviously it will refresh twice per FPS considering the hertz at 360 and FPS at 180
