Great to see you back again doing another review. Great story how he wanted to make some music for his Walkman by using a sequencer and repetitive beats. So all of this was basically an creative accident that turned out to be hailed as the very first techno album ever? That is wild. I would bet that he never knew that it was going to be this memorable. I am going to check out E2-E4 without a bloody doubt. Excellent review again Tony. Five stars across the board~ Rob/Boston
Yes, I read about this. How big this was in the clubs. So cool! I mean so much music has been given new life and a new found popularity thanks to crate-digging DJs looking for great stuff to use. Love it! Thanks again Chris.
Thanks Steve. Glad you are enjoying them. It's hard to say how much time I spend listening to my records... quite a lot. I average about four records a day...I usually put one on in the morning to start my day, then on a normal evening I'll play at least another two, usually three. Sometimes I only play one side, but mostly I listen to a whole record. I listen to more on the weekends, if not busy. I do have days I don't play any records, but very few. I'm not too big on silence lol Thanks
Keep trying to get that video up man! I vetoed a newer album that I didn't feel quite ready to talk about yet. Maybe I'll revisit it at some point in a video. Thanks again Rob! hope to see you (in a video!) soon! Be well.
Excellent vid - thanks Tony. I also learnt about this album via the VC (thanks Chris4127basket!) Having heard the album on youtube I had to hunt down the vinyl and agree - it demands repeated listenings in order to bring out the subtle nuances going on - a real on-off album that has really stood the test of time - great stuff!
Thanks Rob. Yeah man, M.G.. was surprised to hear E2-E4 was big in clubs... that it had caught on. He never intended to make dance music... more like minimalist stuff... like Terry Riley was doing with keyboards, and there is definitely a similarity to that music. Sometimes the best stuff happens totally unexpected/by accident.
Two of two: I tried yet again to post a new video today. It sat in cue on YT processing for over an hour and a half. So I deleted it. I think YT has something against me. I have been trying to post a new video but various reasons have kept me from doing so. This is not an excuse either. I will try again tomorrow. I am now curious to see what album did you veto from being reviewed in this series? Thanks Tony~ Rob
It was the last track played at the paradise garage by dj larry levan in 87' as the cult NYC underground club had to close down/ Cult djs like levan or david mancuso (the Loft) played this track in their sets and it became big in the underground dance scene...
