    I have one of these that I've been doing some diagnostics on for a few weeks in my evenings. It came to me running extremely rough; it would only idle quite rough, wouldn't rev up much- sometimes would let me rev it to 2k rpm and sputter with black puffs from the exhaust when it was cold. I did some live data logging and found the MAF to reach 206 g/s at just 1000 rpm- MAF was way out of whack. All wiring looked beautiful, threw a new hitachi maf sensor at it and boom, it runs quite well now and revs up to 6 grand. I changed the oil and took it for a good spin to record some more data in case there were other issues. It took a good 15 miles of driving to get the exhaust to clear up nicely. Zero smoke from the exhaust now, even at startup after sitting a few days and during hard throttle revs.
    Check engine light came on, rich bank 1 and 2. Live data shows that my fuel trims are always in the negative. Short term seems to always bounce between -12 and -20. I threw new o2 sensors at it as I figured they got clobbered by the previous owner trying to drive it with a bad MAF sensor for a while until it was no longer drivable. Values didn't change much, still very, very negative trim values. Long term shows -18 on both banks. For diagnostics and repairs sake, the cats are removed right now with straight flex pipe in place for the time being.
    When I first changed the oil after repairing the MAF issue, the oil seemed to be a bit thin but it also was changed while very hot. After seeing your video on this late night, I think I'll be checking the dip stick to see if the level is rising as a result of fuel filling the crank case. It's been driven ~100 miles since the last oil change.

      O e thing I had found on this thing was that the intake valves had coked up with oil really bad making it run very rough. Had about ½ of carbon all the way around the intake valves. I ended up cleaning them and put a catch can on the pvc system to help it out. But sadly this Isuzu is no more . My brother cooked the engine from overheating it when the waterpump went out. then it jumped timing.

      El Valero de La bomba de alta presion se queda amarrado! Se tiene que reemplazar Valero o bomba completa !! La causa que origina la descompostura de la bomba son los soprokets variables de los árboles de levas! (Vvt) ¡Te recomiendo bloquearlos con cubos de aluminio igual que las camionetas Ford!!

      Michelle Duncan you may have a PCV valve issue. this one did as well. I put an oil catch can on it because it will fill the lower intake with oil

    how do you get to the high pressure fuel pump

    • @toddvrooman3872
      @toddvrooman3872  8 лет назад +2

      Easiest way I found is to take off the intake manifold. it can be done without taking it off but will involve a lot of cursing.

    I purchase my timing belt for my 2004 direct inject from Isuzu Parts.com They have them in stock. They told me they can get parts .

    • @toddvrooman3872
      @toddvrooman3872  8 лет назад +1

      yes that's through Isuzu. regular part stores sell most parts for the 3.2l not the 3.5l

    • @scotttowe228
      @scotttowe228 8 лет назад

      You are Correct Isuzu is the only place you can buy a 3.5l timing belts.

    Would the 3.2L high pressure fuel pump work on the 3.5L??

    • @toddvrooman3872
      @toddvrooman3872  6 лет назад +1

      gthisgirliswild No. The 3.5L is direct injection witch requires around 2000psi. The 3.2L is port injection witch does not have high fuel pressure pump.

    My HP fuel pump needs to be replaced. I unfortunately lack the tools and more importantly the skills necessary to change one out, quoted $1200 for parts and an additional 800 for labor. If I had known how difficult the parts would be to find I wouldn't have bought it 10 years ago.

    2004 is a nightmare. Just did the timing belt, valves and re timed. Sounds like a diesel now. Thinking the belt might be wrong. White marks on it are slightly off. Where did you get your belt?
