Starting a new project truck with this 8v71N Detroit diesel engine. Making it an air start system. I'll be uploading a lot more videos on this project.
Kubota z482 running on kerosene.

Modified Landa pressure washer with a kubota z482 diesel engine fuelled by Kerosene. Figured it would be easier to run both burner and engine on the same fuel. Diesle fuel will soot up the burner. Kerosene burns clean with low soot. I will see how long term effects of kerosene will have on a diesel engine.

I was running BG 244 diesel fuel cleaning solution in it to clean out bad algae build up. It worked clean as a whistle.

Nice job! You can't beat a good old 12V Cummins. They pull really well, and they'll last almost forever, and also, they sure have a good sound to them with a straight pipe.
2004 gmc envoy xl same motor same hassle. Took me 4 days to finally get the head off. 1 day for removing all the underneath stuff, 1 day for all the top stuff, and 2 days of diccing with a broken rear head bolt. I 100% agree the deaigner needs a kick in the balls. I got steel toed boots lets go get em lol. But yea honestly its easier and cheaper to replace the motor. They designed it so you dont remove the timing chain from the car but instead remove the car from the timing chain
Ainda quero comprar um arranque pneumático para colocar em meu Detroit 3-53 que coloquei em minha ford F100 aqui no Brasil
They don't want you to do your own repairs.
Thanks for you video
What the part number for direct injection high pressure fuel pump
That oil pan design lol...
I know its been a long time since you made this video and I do hope that you get this comment. I just bought a pair of those heads but have not bolted them on yet. For 1 I still need a few more things before I am ready to put it in my truck and 2 I have seen that the valve job can be less than perfect on these heads. My machine shop flat out refused to take the valves out and check the valve seat runout I will seek another shop to do just that. My question is are you still running the e tec 200s? If not, why? Also, the condition of your previous bearings is most likely caused by that oil filter adapter you are using. that adapter was is cause of bearing failure in 99% of these engines. I use a standard oil filter adapter and a short oil filter to clear my front drive shaft.
I am still using the heads. got 70k on them now with 0 problems. Just got to make sure you got the right valve springs for a roller cam if that is what you got. I got a 66hp gain over the cast heads and I love them. I did put the standard oil filter adapter on because the bearing did fail.
@@toddvrooman3872 Thank you so much for the reply. I got the heads for roller cam, don't know if that was an option when you got yours or not. I did take mine out of town to get them checked out and get the ports cleaned up a bit but I am glad to hear that you have had no issues and are still up and running. Thanks again for the reply.
😍 music to ears
Nice sound man
Thanks for the warning a junk yard engine replacement be easier & or Cheaper ??
wow unbelievable screwed up engineering GM
A esas camionetas tambien recomiendo bloquearles los sprokets variables de los 2 arboles de levas!!, igual que a las camionetas ford !!
thanks for the warning
In other words an '04 with over 300,000 miles you're talking totaled by just the labor cost alone!
Punda la

What is the black box that attaches to the passenger side of the throttle body

Why did you remove the entire pan when you can just drop it, leaving it supported enough to get at that bolt without all that extra surgery? Design sucks, yes, but you made more work for yourself going that route.
Sounds like it doesn't like it very much
I'm probably 150 of these 300 views on here. I swear to God
For good reason!
Thank you for the quick vid, Really happy I seen this! Working out side in -25 , small coolant leak on the top of the timing cover. Was already changing the water pump thought to just do it all but now I'll wait till it's warm out lol
I finally wrecked my TB at 300k miles, only ever did regular maintenance. She died with a mechanically sound engine and trans was hoping for another 100k.
Sounds never gets old does it.
I have one of these that I've been doing some diagnostics on for a few weeks in my evenings. It came to me running extremely rough; it would only idle quite rough, wouldn't rev up much- sometimes would let me rev it to 2k rpm and sputter with black puffs from the exhaust when it was cold. I did some live data logging and found the MAF to reach 206 g/s at just 1000 rpm- MAF was way out of whack. All wiring looked beautiful, threw a new hitachi maf sensor at it and boom, it runs quite well now and revs up to 6 grand. I changed the oil and took it for a good spin to record some more data in case there were other issues. It took a good 15 miles of driving to get the exhaust to clear up nicely. Zero smoke from the exhaust now, even at startup after sitting a few days and during hard throttle revs. Check engine light came on, rich bank 1 and 2. Live data shows that my fuel trims are always in the negative. Short term seems to always bounce between -12 and -20. I threw new o2 sensors at it as I figured they got clobbered by the previous owner trying to drive it with a bad MAF sensor for a while until it was no longer drivable. Values didn't change much, still very, very negative trim values. Long term shows -18 on both banks. For diagnostics and repairs sake, the cats are removed right now with straight flex pipe in place for the time being. When I first changed the oil after repairing the MAF issue, the oil seemed to be a bit thin but it also was changed while very hot. After seeing your video on this late night, I think I'll be checking the dip stick to see if the level is rising as a result of fuel filling the crank case. It's been driven ~100 miles since the last oil change.
O e thing I had found on this thing was that the intake valves had coked up with oil really bad making it run very rough. Had about ½ of carbon all the way around the intake valves. I ended up cleaning them and put a catch can on the pvc system to help it out. But sadly this Isuzu is no more . My brother cooked the engine from overheating it when the waterpump went out. then it jumped timing.
That why I keep saying American just can not make car right. I would send all stupid engineering back to Japanese car engineering school in JAPAN.
Use my foot also to kick the designer in the nutz.. 🦵🤣🤣
You're a patient Man! Im glad i watched your video, cos it has definitely been informative on my next decision for a timing chain replacement.. 😁 #Right to the shop.. 😄
I took all 17 head bolts out without breaking one. There is a guy on yt that show how. Here'is the link. Check him out. Patience said the man. It'll save you hours of grief. Btw, great video Todd. It was very helpful. I'm putting it bach together now. What a fucked up design.
What a waste of time.
Why?
I know this is late, but I am putting together a 383 for my 96 c2500. Did you use the E-tec 170s or 200s? And where did you get your exhaust headers?!
I used the 200's.. For my 383 was a 60 hp gain to the ground over the cast heads. You just have to make sure to use roller cam springs
What a shitshow
Nice.l know theTrans bearings weren't built for the torque of the engine but I'd put new ones if you can get them and a cooler if it doesn't have one
Found all my parts easily on eBay. Even changed out the 4x4 modeul after a bad coffee spill burn out....
what a nightmare
Too late😭
This is a perfect example they should use in engineer school. Everytime I hear someone talking positively about the profession of engineering, I think about all the dip chip engineers that have created more problems than they ever solved. It should be a requirement for them to be a mechanic for at least 10 years 1st to see the crap their kind has created.
Nissan ARMADA is pretty much the same bs.
Does anyone have wiring diagram for Faersi part? Color to color.
What transmission is that
It was a Spicer 4 speed auxiliary drive transmission. No reverse.
Nice!!!
You have a shift kit in it ?
Yes it had a shift kit 4l60E. But now has an NV4500 5 speed manual
Those were a good tractor
Did u have to remove motor mounts to remove the 4x4
How do u break the oil pan seal. I have all the bolts out and the oil pan won't move. Any suggestions thank
The 806 and the m farmalls were the 2 best tractors international harvester ever built.
Tbh I like the H more than the M
The 706 with the 310D diesel engine has always been my favorite. I had a 1967 706 with the 310D engine about 16 years ago. I surely miss that tractor a lot.
Straight in the nuz I've been there
That's why I just pull the engine 😆2.4 Pontiac lol try that one in a sunfire 😆
how did u manage to replace the high pressure fuel pump. did u have to remove the engine? also how did u manage to drain the gas out of the crank case
