    If Andrelton Simmons was able to even just be 10 -15% better, then average hitter he would have probably been one of 5 best shortstops ever.

      Not even, if he was just an average hitter he still could be up there

      @ttcghost6977 if he was an average hitter and Rendon cared at all then Trout may have more than 1 playoff series.

      Man as a braves fan he was one of my favorites. Like he would make make you mad as hell because he just popped out. But then he goes out there and makes an amazing play and your just like holy shit how the? And yeah. I agree I wish he could just hit just a tid bit better lol

      @garrett9562 I understand u as Angels fan I remember even thought he was never a good hitter he was a damn wizard with the arm and glove during this mid to late 2010s years for us

    Simmons arm constantly looks like it came out of Rookie of the Year. He looks so effortless when he throws from any position but the ball just fires out of his hand

    • @FTLnovaKid
      @FTLnovaKid 2 месяца назад

      Looks like he barely uses any effort or throws from an “odd” angle sometimes and the ball is still a rocket.

    Simmons is my favorite shortstop. The way he makes defending so smooth and easy was a sight to behold. His ability to make the extraordinary look ordinary and the routine plays were automatic.
    The fact players basically had the same OBP as your average pitcher is hilarious.

    Great video! As a Braves fan, I remember thinking of Simmons like a great pitch-calling catcher. I didn’t care what he did at the plate - I wanted him in the lineup every night.

    One thing that gets lost is that Simmons rarely struck out. He was a contact beast; it was just bad contact. With the right approach...
    Angels killed my boy! Why do you always turn great players into jerseys before they're done? (Edit)

    I'm a Braves fan and I never wasted an opportunity to point out, Andrelton Simmons defensively as a brave had more WAR than pretty much any brave shortstop had offensively and defensively. I wish he could have lasted a few more seasons and put up prime defensive numbers that time, as he would have legitimately passed Ozzy as the best defensive shortstop of all time

    I wonder if more defense-first oriented players will make the HoF more frequently with these advanced stats revealing how much better these defenders are than just relying on the eye test and traditional stats. I know players like Ozzie Smith and Brooks Robinson didn't have the strongest offensive numbers but coupled with their stellar defense made them Hall of Famers

    Idk why people are trashing him as a hitter. Simmons was decent. He routinely put up somewhere around 150+ hits, scored 70 runs and barely ever struck out. Yeah he didnt hit 20 homers or 100 RBI but not everybody does.

  • @jamesrichardson381
    @jamesrichardson381 7 месяцев назад

    ...and yet somehow Andruw Jones isn't in the Hall of Fame. I'm not sure there has ever been bigger snub. I'd love to hear someone make the argument for how on Earth Ozzie Smith is in the hall but Andruw is still waiting. Explain that. After all why wouldn't that be the case Andruw only hit 406 more homeruns lol. Hey Smith did have 2 more Gold Gloves 12 to 10. Somethings in life just don't make sense. Were talking literally the greatest defensive centerfielder of all time. No don't give me the Willie Mays line. Yes he was a much better hitter and historically good defensively but not on Andruws level defensively. I would also venture to say those 2 years by Andrelton were the 2 best defensive seasons by any shortstop in baseball history.
