70 WAR is pretty consistent with making the HOF, so even I as a Mets fan kinda slept on Lindor, who is at 43 WAR entering his age 30 season. Carlos Correa is right behind him at 41 WAR entering his age 29 season. Both are pacing pretty well

I think he has to be at least have another 3 dominant seasons. He’s only really had 3 (4 including 2020) full seasons out of 8 years. He’d be sure fire first ballot if he were healthy but adding that “if healthy” designation hurts his case. I think his case is similar to deGrom. They’re both elite, arguably the best at their position, but they have had so many injuries across their careers that has limited the playing time. This certainly has hurt the counting stats that voters look for. I think both of them need a few more years of being elite to solidify their cases.
Time will tell and I hope they can kick the injury bug and finish on a strong note.

As you are assuming had any other pitcher been on the mound to start that they definitely wouldn't have won the game. I think all were won by at least 3 runs also so to assume any other pitcher would have lost doesn't make sense. Players who're playing right now who aren't in HOF territory yet, but are REALLY close, are as follows in no particular order: Jose Altuve, Andrew McCutchen, Chris Sale, Josh Donaldson, Bryce Harper, Jose Ramirez, Jacob DeGrom, Giancarlo Stanton, Francisco Lindor, Marcus Semien, Aaron Judge, Gerrit Cole, Carlos Correa, and Jason Hayward. Finally, players right now who aren't especially close to HOF territory yet, but are on a VERY good trajectory, are as follows in no particular order: Christian Yelich, Anthony Rizzo, Xander Bogaerts, Starling Marte, Justin Turner, Johnny Cueto, George Springer, Kevin Keirmaier, Carlos Santana, Alex Bregman, Shohei Ohtani, J.T. Realmuto, Anthony Rendon, Salvador Perez, Trea Turner, Corey Seager, Jose Abreu, Aaron Nola, D.J. LeMahieu, Matt Chapman, Yu Darvish, Trevor Story, Sonny Gray, J.D. Jacob DeGrom made 6 starts in 2023, none in the postseason. He's made 215 career starts, and in an era when SP wins aren't as easy to come by, there are several active SP with more wins than he has starts. No doubt dominant, but guy can't stay healthy.
Snell is a case of 2 CY seasons and not much else. He's got more season with a 4+ ERA (3) than a sub-3 ERA (2). He's also never come terribly close to 200 IP in a single season, with a career high of 180.2 in 2018. Outside of his 2 CY seasons he's 36-41 with a 3.84 ERA over 632 innings across 128 starts. Doesn't scream HoF pitcher.

I’m afraid your arguments for the Hall for some of these players is invalid. Basing candidacy on past players stats vs candidate stats is short-sighted. HOF is not just mathematical unlike so many believe. Candidacy includes their impact on the sport and the era in which they played. Fringe candidates, like Mattingly, surely look to have been passed up, but in fact the voters at the time for that time didn’t fully agree. Personally I’d like less candidates and more stringent criteria to be considered. But that’s for a different discussion.

The whole logic around Altuve not taking part is just so stupid. Like oh no runners ahead of him ever cheated to get on? Nobody behind him? The score wasn't effected so pitch mix wasn't? They didn't throw breaking balls in breaking ball counts because they kept getting smoked if not always hit. He benefitted. His average. His obp. Ops. RUNS especially RBI's is a damn team stat. I'm sorry your honor i was just in the bank when everybody was shooting. I got a split of the money but i didn't do anything inside the bank i just stood there and kept guard... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

they could only cheat at home with the setup used and they has worse offense at home than on the road. the cheating didn't help so even if he got some peripheral benefits, they were obviously inconsequential.
