This movie is kinda iconic to me. The dvd trailers always used to play on my other Warner bros DVD’s, and the movie itself always used to play on Cartoon Network. I one day was lucky enough to record the full movie so that I could watch it over and over again. It’s dumb, stupid, and kinda all over the place, but I kinda enjoy it
It's kinda sad that Shaggy is so determined to be romantic bc he legitimately cares about Velma that much, while Fred is "playing the field" with Daphne even though the latter is the relationship that's been at least teased and hinted at in every incarnation
"Is Fred anyone's favorite character?" Yes, he's mine. While Fred gets utterly butchered in the live action movies, hes a great character in the original, A Pup Named Scooby Doo, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated , excreta.
Thing is, most of the early animated Scooby films were pretty great. He needs to review the bad ones that came later Like Scooby Doo Return to Zombie Island, or Curse of the 13th Ghost Scooby Doo The Sword and The Scoob
@@jareththegoblinking3191 Return To Zombie Island was such a kick in the nuts to all Scooby Doo fans. Treats you like an absolute idiot by acting like Zombie Island both did and didn't happen at the same time, while expecting you to be too stupid to tell that’s what they're doing
19:24 The INSTANT Daphne breaks up with Fred, his arm went around Velma. And, from that point on (though there isn't much left to see), Fred is always next to her. Silent predator if I've ever seen one.
I’m glad that they broke up even in live action especially the way Fred treats Daphne not considering her feelings at all, always finds a way to make her jealous and in the Phantasour animated film he literally became a dick to her with the “common Daphne give her a break, haven’t you had a crush on someone before” line. Hell Daphne should have ended up with shaggy since she shows more emotions towards him and shaggy is the badass underdog of the franchise with how much he puts his life on the line for them and they don’t even appreciate them for doing so.
Fred was up to 11 in that show, and all the better for it. Who knew taking a few character traits, expanding on them, exaggerating them, and connecting them could actually create a personality? Oh wait, that’s what the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are.
This film could have been a million times better if Velma was been hypnotised to think she was possessed and it was actually the store owner, with hints of how she'd used practical sets to fake the monster, like not even just clues they find but her being in the background in places that the kids might actually spot even though the characters don't draw attention to her
@@arsenelupin9697 I didn't play too much of the original so I don't know how much was changed, but I've enjoyed it so far despite it only being the first half of the original.

There have been several stories that have done that. I remember one where they took on an island of Zombies and then there was another where Shaggy fell in love with a woman that turned out to be an alien.
He’s made so many Middle Earth jokes in his reviews, but no joke about Velma being possessed by the moon stone being equivalent of being possessed by the ring of power?! It was gift wrapped for him!
5:37 Critic does realize that Scooby doo has been going on for over 50 years now, they have made each character more interesting not just Scooby and Shaggy. I do have to know how many Scooby doo series has he seen. I also like that he keeps the Velma and Daphne thing going but I am interested in the idea of Shaggy and Velma being a thing.
And he will portray Chris Redfield in an upcoming Resident Evil project. A role that was played by Wentworth Miller (who is also Captain Cold on the same show) Coincidence?
@@giuseppeianniello1998 Neil McDonough, who played Damien Dahrk, is also supposedly involved from what I gather with that Resident Evil project, William Birkin specifically. When actors function as freelancers supposedly, it's no wonder they'll take any project that promises a guaranteed paycheck

For real i didn't even know they made another live action movie
DJ Khalid: and another one...
They're biggering!
Really? I think there are less of those nowadays.
the guy playing shaggy looks like he sold the cast/crew weed and they decided to give him the role as payment.
Yeah He Has Perfect For The Roll
I just remembered Velma is played by Hayley kiyoko who the internet literally named lesbian Jesus lol
“This is gonna end with an orgy at the end.”
Ah, I see NC has seen that other Scooby Doo film.
Wait what
Rule 34, my guy
Pics or it didn't happen.
That would be something for the Cinema Snob to review.
I feel like that's a Scooby Doo movie for when the kids are in bed! 😂
This movie is kinda iconic to me. The dvd trailers always used to play on my other Warner bros DVD’s, and the movie itself always used to play on Cartoon Network. I one day was lucky enough to record the full movie so that I could watch it over and over again. It’s dumb, stupid, and kinda all over the place, but I kinda enjoy it
Breaking news! The queen has knighted scooby-doo as sir not-appearing-in-this-film!

"You'd have to be high to think she's into...oh."
We joke about this but Harvey Birdman confirmed it.
It's kinda sad that Shaggy is so determined to be romantic bc he legitimately cares about Velma that much, while Fred is "playing the field" with Daphne even though the latter is the relationship that's been at least teased and hinted at in every incarnation
Honestly, i dont blame Shaggy for having a crush on Velma. Every version of her is perfect lmao
Yes, even the frog one.
She looks hot in both Live-Action movies

"Is Fred anyone's favorite character?"
Yes, he's mine. While Fred gets utterly butchered in the live action movies, hes a great character in the original, A Pup Named Scooby Doo, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated , excreta.
No, go ahead…what are the others?
17:45 Krillin: Why did you take off your shirt?
Hey why don't you review The Witch's Ghost next time that has Tim Curry in it.
I’d prefer Cyber Chase or Alien Invaders but Tim curry is a good point
Thing is, most of the early animated Scooby films were pretty great.
He needs to review the bad ones that came later
Like Scooby Doo Return to Zombie Island, or Curse of the 13th Ghost
Scooby Doo The Sword and The Scoob
@@jareththegoblinking3191 Return To Zombie Island was such a kick in the nuts to all Scooby Doo fans.

"there will never be a likable version of Fred" bruh Man needs to watch Scooby-Doo mystery Incorporated because that Fred might be the best character.
Bro, that Beethoven “Haven’t seen in decades” line is SOOO true
Everyone: Fred sucks
Me an intellectual: *watches Scooby doo mystery incorporated*
That show was awesome
As a fan of Mystery Inc, I must say that Fred is the worst part of that show, too.
Fred was up to 11 in that show, and all the better for it. Who knew taking a few character traits, expanding on them, exaggerating them, and connecting them could actually create a personality? Oh wait, that’s what the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are.
He had a personality sure but he was still the worst member with how awful a boyfriend he was
Yes Mystery Inc did all the characters amazing
I'll admit, the Lake Monster is pretty cool to look at, even years later
I can definitely see why WB stopped making these live action films
5:56 Wonder if she's gonna use it to evolve a Clefairy.
This film could have been a million times better if Velma was been hypnotised to think she was possessed and it was actually the store owner, with hints of how she'd used practical sets to fake the monster, like not even just clues they find but her being in the background in places that the kids might actually spot even though the characters don't draw attention to her
Dang , first Dmc 5 , then Avengers , and now Final Fantasy 7 , Doug is getting pretty big sponsors.
And only two of those games were actually good. But yes.
@@XanderPGK I'd argue only one of those ^^
Letting Nomura get his hands on the script, was a very bad idea.

There is a universe where Shaggy and Velma hook up... It just took an apocalypse to happen first for them to do so.
No the hook up is brought in before the apocalypse…….. and Velma still turned out to be a lesbian
Any old Nostalgia Critic fans would remember that when he reviewed a Scooby Doo movie for the first time... that was his last episode before he went on a hiatus.
Critic... PLEASE DONT GO ON A HIATUS!!!
not even hiatus though.
it was supposed to be the last NC review EVER.
15:59 Agent Fitz and Simmons went through similar relationship issues.
The biggest mystery here is “where the hell is Roger during this Scooby Doo movie review”?
How did they not realize that?
He was there, you just have to look closer.
"Is Fred *anyone's* favourite character?" - Have you *seen* Mystery Incorporated~?
Yes. Still not the best character
Can't wait for Scooby Doo meets Breaking Bad in space the film next year!
Honestly, that isn't too far fetched all things considered with scooby doo
Or the crossover we've been wanting for years... Scooby Doo meets Tom & Jerry
For the series that originally killed the Nostalgia Critic, he sure is brave taking it on multiple times.
It was this series, way back when, wasn't it?
(When the wall was a different color too).
@@platypusbunneh I'm just glad he doesn't do the show in his study. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful shade of red, but that much red, I can feel anger rising like my blood pressure. Too much red.

I think the reason why the simple design of the monster works well is because most of the monster designs in Scooby-Doo Where Are You? are pretty simple themselves, I mean Captain Cutler is a pretty simple design but he is still one of my favorite Scooby-Doo monsters.
Curse of the lake monster was ten years ago? My god why does it still feel relatively recent
For no reason whatsoever, Daphne was my favorite character when I was a teenager.
I have a few theories as to why that is
@@AndreNitroX
Theories that remain the same if I told you the actress who plays Velma is actually a lesbian?
The Velma having a crush on Daphne gag is even more hilarious when you find out Velmas actress is a lesbian
Huh.
Pornos have that similar fetish too with that thing.
I’m sure that was a part of the reason she was cast
You left out the part with Scooby laughing hysterically.
Yeah Scooby didn't even sound like himself when he laughed almost like an entirely different cartoon character
Doug’s Scooby voice sounds just like his Pennywise voice as it makes this review so much better.
Honestly I loved this series, kinda would've loved a third movie.

Also shaggy: futons offer far more support than traditional mattresses

A live action Scooby Doo movie review without Roger? What madness is this?
Good point. CURSE YOU, COVID!!!
You know it’s sad when I could figure out it’s Velma before NC could even mention it
What happened to the days when Scooby Doo was about calling bullshit on the paranormal?
I guess they wanted the paranormal stuff to not be bullshit?
It got old. But I do wish they would go back to it
There have been several stories that have done that. I remember one where they took on an island of Zombies and then there was another where Shaggy fell in love with a woman that turned out to be an alien.
@@MandalorV7 not to mention the between those two films you mentioned having Tim Curry as the descendant of an evil witch

“Lon Chaney Jr. bitten by Michigan J. Frog” THAT is funny! 😂
Never saw this movie, but 10 seconds of Shaggy's audio just made me *LOATHE IT.*
Shaggy’s voice in this movie annoys me.

Yeah Mathew Lillard did a much better job
Watch "Scoob 2020" if you haven't already. Shaggys voice is UNBEARABLE

Shaggy: Why Velma, you sound charmingly demonic tonight
5:37 Critic does realize that Scooby doo has been going on for over 50 years now, they have made each character more interesting not just Scooby and Shaggy. I do have to know how many Scooby doo series has he seen. I also like that he keeps the Velma and Daphne thing going but I am interested in the idea of Shaggy and Velma being a thing.
