Sometime, somewhere in the future, some kid will find his/her way into roots music, hear this song, think it was American Recordings era Johnny Cash, and then learn it was Rodney Crowell reinterpreting Bob Seger covering Rodney Crowell.
Was at Rodney’s concert in Medford Origon earlier this year.I will say it was the best concert I’ve ever been to;the joy it brought me is priceless. It ain’t over yet received much applause, Rodney’s simply said:” that was a good one”. Truth be told , all his songs are good ones.
That looms like a dulcimer. The last time I saw a dulcimer was in the hands of John Sebastian. Absolutely entrancing music with lyrics that draw you in with a universal message never dies!
@Rodney Croswell Read this page, we all love you man! When it gets tough, reach for that nail scarred hand and know that were all with you. Hang in there. Rodney Crowell fans are close to the source. Keep them coming, we love ya!
Rodney Crowell has a book of business second to none. What would we be without poet, song writers such as Mr. Crowell. Simple one that's @ the top of the pyrmaid.
Have always liked Rodney's music and due to Covid and loss of my husband, my other half, I've had such a grand time rediscovering so much music, revisiting old and can't believe how time changes your memories. Rodney is definitely someone I have come to appreciate on much higher level!
Again, Rodney hit's it out of the ball park! PLEASE post the names of the 2 heavenly voices added. There are no words for what a fantastic addition to this recording they are, not to forget the other studio players. Thank you to each and every one involved! The Covid shutdown forced me into retirement and gave me the time to re-connect with the Piano I was drawn to 40+ years ago. Being a Bass & Guitar player (47 years) has been my salvation during this difficult time and this is one of the songs that I gravitate to almost every day to elevate my soul. Thank you for posting. Again, PLEASE post the names of the 2 heavenly voices added.
I was also wondering who the studio musicians are and the two female vocalists. Beautiful, and probably will never reach critical acclaim. I used to buy records and read the jackets to see who was playing on it. (I miss that and all the photos of the musicians). Then when I would see them on another album or perhaps his/her own record I would buy it. I used to have a wall-to-wall record collection. Then gave it to my brother who added his own gems to it, and cornered it around to the other wall. We were both into music at lot!
Rodney what a wonderful human you are! I found you from Elizabeth Cook and her Apron strings show.Your music is divine and your humility is humbling. My I hang with you for awhile. You are one of my kind
This is an absolutely classic song! I loved Bob Seger's version, and he was gracious to point out (in a 2018 Atlanta concert) that it was written by Rodney Crowell. This remastery is extraordinary on many levels, but I must comment on the incredible sound of the claviola beginning around 1:57. Rory Hoffman of Nashville has an introduction to the instrument on RUclips which I recommend to anyone interested; I suspect it may be him playing on this video... What a masterpiece!
The very fact that Guy Clark and Rodney Crowell, are so under estimated and never credited with their poetic endeavors in lyrics and scores...it boggles my mind.
Hey RS , I'm not sure, although they kinda lived in the shadows of "The Outlaws" in the 70/80/90's , it's the way they liked it. Rodney , Guy , Townes , John Prime , Steve Earle and a few more have been respected , revered , covered and loved by their peers for decades, just look at Rodney's repretoir which has given hits to so many major artists, they come looking for him and he has got what so many would wish for and covet , that is the respect of the entire industry . I live in Ireland, it's the same thing, everybody who is anybody in the business knows these guys as the greats they are. I saw them all play live at one time or another and they had big audiences in the palm of their hands. Not to cut across you, but I really do think he and Guy have always been respected , least since late 1970's as the giants they are..... as artists, performers , poets, producers etc that they truly are. Keep well and keep on singing along RS. 👍
OUTSTANDING! we got to see him in Eugene couple weeks ago. Im still singing his songs. The lady on the piano was AWESOME. IDK how her tiny little hands moved so fast and accurate on the keys! Never caught her name, and the other guy he stole from the Oprey (for this tour) was also OUTSTANDING! Discovered one week prior, he was also playing 30 mins away! Oh well, we made it fun. 1st concert in 2 yrs and we were impressed and AMAZED! SO happy we got to go. Hult Center is Beautiful, with comfy chairs, not a bad seat in the house. They did a great job at preventing the nosebleed section to rush the stage so the ppl who PAID for front row cant SEE or enjoy the concert. PPL are just TOO RUDE anymore. Glad Rodney attracts polite and empathetic people. WONDERFUL!
I love all of Rodney's music. Blame it on the moon is a great one. It makes me think that if you feel like you are nearing the end of the road don't give up because much better is waiting a little further down.
@Rodney Croswell Thank's for your answer. We really apreciate your music and lírics. We are in Portugal, a long way from your country, but the emotion in your songs makes that distance meaningless. thank you for taking the time to read my comments and respond
Darling Rodney, I had NO IDEA you revised this in here 3 yrs back, I've told you I too was that "only lonely child" hungry for praise roo. oh me.. still have your book which is my fave next to lorettas two. still trying to figure out whose is more honestly vibrant and so rich. forever feeling you're one of the best in the biz in performance and writing skills. love you forever.... 😍 💗
I spent 20 years helping to make you popular and your comments are shut off in some of the other links to many of your popular songs. I'm a little disappointed in this. I have no idea if this is actually you or some fan page but all the same your music is awesome. Thanks for the many hours of bringing some peace to my life. Cheers.
I dig this version but I truly want to hear you sing it with this music . The girls sounded amazing and I was hoping to hear you sing it with them . Please consider doing this version and you singing it with them . I know your other fans will love hearing it , I know I will .
Rodney Crowle & shame on the moon is great & shows like his father in law the Great Johnny Cash & other Great Hank Williams these men were the best at along with singing great at talking a song*****

I got a "like" on my comment/question, but no one has answered it. Does anyone think the guy doing the lap drum _(or whatever you call it)_ is in the "Crowell" genes? He certainly looks a heck of a lot like Rodney to me. *_A HELLUVA LOT!_* Does anyone agree, or is it just me? I think he had a son or daughter with someone who *_had a son that looks a lot like Rodney_* , or *_Rodney had a son late in life?_* I'm jealous! *_Why don't women have that gift? lol!_*
I'M SOO GLAD AND HAPPY,,,THAT IT,'S NOT TRUE,,THAT ROD CROWELL ARE GONE/ Someone told me he had passed away,,/Thanks God he's alive and still singing!!! 🌹❤🌹Love from Helene in Sweden 🌹
Sometime, somewhere in the future, some kid will find his/her way into roots music, hear this song, think it was American Recordings era Johnny Cash, and then learn it was Rodney Crowell reinterpreting Bob Seger covering Rodney Crowell.
You know I can really imagine that happening
God forbid, we can't lose him now. We need him more than ever now. He's getting better with age like a fine wine . God Bless Rodney Crowell!!!!!
No he is alive, he was sick badly sick. But Google says he's fine.
Yes ❤️🤞💕
Both he and Gram Parsons! We lost Gram too early.
We lost Gram tragically, such a complicated, sensitive man
The young man and the older man meet in harmony with lyrics transposed with wisdom that only life can bring.
Thanks Rodney for writing my life's song.
Bob Seger thanks you too.
Eu também agradeço muito ❤🙏
Who else but Rodney would take a classic song of his own and age it like a fine wine?
Yes ma'am...I concur!
Right. I was a too much thinking and praise God for his newest song something's gotta change...ME. YEP.
Hell getting old

Old does not mean something bad!!! He’s wonderful!!!
Lookin' good, old man. Good--and authentic. Love these songs.... :)
This is beautiful. We need more poetry in the world like this, especially these days.
Goosebumps 😍
Goosebumps for me too. Angels open our doors.
WOW!!! What an AMAZING redux! Thanks!!!
Rodney...when you were up and down...we loved your music...still do sir...thank you sir

Rodney takes revisits & makes this once again into the CLASSIC it deserves to be. The women's back up is absolutely beautiful.
Never heard of someone doing a cover of a song being called a revisit. I actually like putting it that way better. Thanks for the idea.
That looms like a dulcimer. The last time I saw a dulcimer was in the hands of John Sebastian. Absolutely entrancing music with lyrics that draw you in with a universal message never dies!
Rodney did some serious soul searching when he re-did that classic . Simple and Honest , I wish i had the words !
Did you know that Don Henley did a cover of voice of Summer and rearranged it classic if not check it out
The girls singing in the background are phenominal. The band is dead on and perfect. What a beautiful 5+ minutes with Rodney Crowell. Excellent!
@Rodney Croswell Read this page, we all love you man! When it gets tough, reach for that nail scarred hand and know that were all with you. Hang in there. Rodney Crowell fans are close to the source. Keep them coming, we love ya!
@Rodney Croswell Sure, it sounds like youre in pain?
America's best songwriter. Period.

Love this Thank you Rodney I say this for all the fans good to see again sharing your talent with us
I'm gonna guess that one of the background vocalists is Courtney Patton.
Rodney what a wonderful human you are! I found you from Elizabeth Cook and her Apron strings show.Your music is divine and your humility is humbling. My I hang with you for awhile. You are one of my kind
@Rodney Croswell You have made my day reading your reply Rodney. God Bless!
Woah , wasn't expecting the emotional punch and a tear.
I never knew Rodney wrote this. . Stunning. Beautiful
Class act! A true storyteller!! Thankyou sir!
20 or 1oo Rodney is the best music I want to listen to.
An absolutely beautiful and haunting rendition of this song of yours, Rodney. ❤

That is a Claviola. Hohner produced them in the 1990's for a few months. Not many around. Designed in the 60''s.
Thank god for rodney crowel.
Who else would have the guts to tinker with his masterpiece?
Love all the lyrics. My favorite song writer. 💕🤩
The very fact that Guy Clark and Rodney Crowell, are so under estimated and never credited with their poetic endeavors in lyrics and scores...it boggles my mind.

We need to protect Rodney at all cost.
So interesting to hear this after all this time listening to the original version. Or maybe Bob Seeger version. This is so wonderful to hear.
I love all of Rodney's music. Blame it on the moon is a great one. It makes me think that if you feel like you are nearing the end of the road don't give up because much better is waiting a little further down.

Cool version love it
Gotta be one of my favorite versions of this song. The looking back kind.lol
Wow. I was not expecting THAT. What a beautiful twist on a middle-aged classic piece of music.
Does anyone know what that Honner instrument is (around 4:11)? I've never seen anything like it. The orchestration on this song is beautiful.
This is great work.
Great performance! Reminds me of life in Dayton, Ohio.
The guy doing the hand percussion (I don't know what you call it) looks like a Crowell. I wonder if he was a son or grandson?
This is a stellar performance.
Saw Bob Seger sing this in Houston during the 80's. Great version of this song.
Rodney Crowle & shame on the moon is great & shows like his father in law the Great Johnny Cash & other Great Hank Williams these men were the best at along with singing great at talking a song*****
Beautiful
An interesting new song. I'm glad to hear more Rodney music tho :)
Best singer born,and handsome
OMG love this ❤
Smooth and forevermore.

Loved this song by Bob Seger love this version also and yeah i knew Rodney wrote it
What is that wind instrument with a keyboard attached to it? Is that a melodica or what? Has a lovely sound
Claviola. Hohner made them for a short time in the '90's. Designed in the '60's. Very rare.
Excellent
Wow...…...Just......WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot find the lyrics for this song anywhere. If anyone can make out everything he says or has a link to the actual lyrics, PLEASE post them to me.
Just checked on Google, same title by Bob Seger and credited by Rodney Crowell as the songwriter.
Great song by the way 👍👍
Great Song
O solo de violino é bom demais 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Cooler song❤
Rory Hoffman on the claviola really adds to this song.
Amazing 😊
