I think the point is that Ygritte is known as such a good shot that she could have killed John if she wanted too. The fact that she shot him 3 times and missed vitals means she wasn't trying to kill him, she was trying to hurt him for the hurt he made her feel. John knows she wont kill him and that's why he is unfazed and she is upset at John but also at herself for being so weak/human that she can't even kill him

People saying this fail to understand how unrealistic this is. People can die from arrows way easier than one would think. Vitals are literally everywhere in our body. A random arrow no matter where it is aimed can still hit a main artery anywhere in the body which can lead to severe bleeding and a quick death. Its a risk nobody would ever take unless they wanted to kill. This happens fast too, you don't really have the luxury of having time if this happens you have to be immediately treated. It truly does not matter where you aim or what your skills with the bow even are. You have no idea how deadly and dangerous even a single arrow can be for the human body. Its a tv show after all, let's not pretend that this particular bit is believable though. Its miles away from believable and I say this even though I love this show.

I think the main reason for that feeling is Robb was a good person. Killing him in cold blood was bad enough but to desecrate his remains, and to then throw his mother in the river naked as a cruel mockery of the Tully funeral rites? The Freys all deserved what came to them.

This season was so critical to increase the viewership of GoT. So many people had their friends watch it with them, get the hooks in with Ned's death, and then get them black holed into the series and subscribed to HBO after Red Wedding. The idea that Robb started the war is just idiotic. They imprisoned his father then summoned him to Kingslanding to bend the knee. And everyone knew even if he did that he wouldn't be allowed to simply leave. He was forced to go to war for the honor of his house and the honor of the North.
The Lannisters started the war. They stole the throne by proclaiming Joffrey when they knew he's a bastard. Also remember Cersei was the one who made sure Robert died with his wine.

For me it was never about how disturbing the red wedding itself was. Tywin says it best. "Explain to me why it is more noble to kill a thousand men in battle then a dozen at dinner", its about the violation of the corpses. Sewing his direwolves head onto his body and parading him out of the castle, and even worse to have his youngest sister be the one who sees him, and in the books Catelyns family funeral rites are mocked as well the Tullys are commonly burnt on the river, and Catelyn was stripped naked and had her body tossed into the Green Fork to rot.

And then the Brotherhood found her and did her so much worse than what the Freys could ever do in my opinion. Lady Stoneheart is nothing more than an empty shell of what Catelyn Stark used to be. A being a vengeance wandering around cursed until those who wronged her family are taken care of. It's disgusting that they brought her back. And because the Freys had cut so deep into her neck, she can't even speak. And because of how long she was in the river her body is a decaying mess. The fifth son is King Stannis' squire, but after the deaths of 4 older ones, Melisandre convinces the king to leave the boy to attend her rather than fight by his side, as an act of kindness towards Davos, so he wouldn't lose another son.

When Jon first ran, he bumped Ygritte to prevent her from killing one of her own and be outcast - he knew he had to go, couldn't take her, but didn't want her to be guilty through her association with him. The main reason to be mad at Walder Frey is the way that he did what he did. When you invite someone into your home and break bread with them they are protected by guest rights. It goes into this more in the book but it was the scene where they were dipping bread jnto salt. Totally agree with the Rob comments though. His decisions lead to this sadly

  • @starytancerz
    @starytancerz Месяц назад +3

It's a traditIon in many European countries to welcome guests to your home with salt and bread, signifying protection of the host for the night. It was considered a most heinous crime to break this trust. Even when enemies would come to negotiate in a home or even a tent, bread and salt would seal safety for the night of all guests. When Rob arrived at the Frey's, the first scene showed them sharing salt and bread provided by Frey. Even the Gods would turn on him.

Ygritte couldve killed Jon, but she didn't she shot Jon 3 times to hurt him bc she's hurting. And shooting him with arrows is the only thing I guess her character know how to do. There's also a scene where she said to Jon "I will kill you if you ever leave." But she didn't kill him, bc she love him, but she's hurting. Hurt people hurt people y'know

I stopped watching for two seasons after the Red Wedding so totally understand the trauma of the wedding and Robb’s wolf head. It’s a rough one. Weddings in the GoT-verse are always rough. Glad it held true in HotD lol
But also living for the emotionally-fueled post-episode about discussion Ygritte. Classic GoT effect.

I don't know why You Tube always recommend this reaction late on my TV. I basically just got it.
Anyway, yea around that time it wasn't a picnic. I always was of two minds about the Red Wedding. In one hand it was heart breaking and the most brutal thing I had ever seen on TV. On the other hand, it was also the most incredible viseral stuff I had ever seen then and I have seen since. I always wondered who planned it. Is it Walder Frey that sent a letter to Tywin saying:"bro, the whole Stark clan are gonna be at my house for wedding celebration. If you want me to kill them, then give me some stuff in returns". Then maybe Tywin sent a letter to Bolton saying:"alright if you're in on this too, we'll make you Warden of the North".

I agree with Carter on the Ygritte matter, she has a very black and white view of the world, her entire livelihood literally depends on every single action she and everyone around her makes at every turn, all acts of betrayal, disloyalty and cowardice are met with the most efficient and fullproof way of never posing a threat or creating unnecessary danger to the survival of the group which is death, quick, cold and easy. Jon is mess, he been a mess, that's kinda his whole deal smh.

All the years of watching reactions, and I still find myself surprised how upset people are about Jon and Ygritte. I guess it's the difference between reading the books first vs. watching the show. Reading first, we see their relationship from Jon's POV, and we know he was always planning to do whatever it took to get back to the Watch...even though he grew to care for Ygritte...

I'm sure Cersei has either always been spiteful, or she's always had strong reasons to be spiteful. Perhaps the only people in her young life who weren't cruel were her mother and Jamie. Or she was born to be a *****
    Nevertheless:
After her mother's death, she was “promised” to a handsome Targaryen youth who would inherit the throne. But that did not happen. Before she was told at, still, a very young age that she was now to marry Robert Baratheon (who loathed her), a witch told Cersei how her life would turn out and how she would die. It was an accurate and grim and sinister prediction.
At some point, Cercei realized that all the witch's scary words WERE COMING TRUE in detail, one after the other. And that she was now trapped in this prophecy, for the rest of her life, unable to escape it, unable to attain happiness except, for a very short time, by loving her children; that she could only gain security and ease and power in those fleeting moments when the pages of her pre-ordained, unalterable, sad prophecy were busy turning to the next bleak chapter. So, I gather, she decided to accept that this was the case, and that she would fight mercilessly for the little space of choice available to her. So, everything but this space and her children, she hates and despises and objectifies... since, to her, there is nothing else. Such is Martin's tale of Cersei.
