- 2008 Mercedes E420 CDI with DPF delete & muffler delete. Exhaust sound. Asked a friend to try and hold my phone for some accelerations, from my point of view. Shaky, mediocre-quality video.. but have a listen! I'll put some more effort into coming videos.
Damn... this sound never gets old.... Love it!

Have you owned the car for 16 years and only had so few cars? 13 years ago you can see in a video of them 78,000km mileage and in the video 210,000km only make 10,000km a year. Given the annual mileage, diesel isn't worth it. I actually saw your first videos from years ago and am amazed that you still own the car after over 16 years
Yeah, I've had it for about 12 years now, and my dad 4 years before me. I've owned 3 cars in total during this time, and I still have 2 of them. I see pros and cons with keeping cars for a longer time. It's not really about it being worth it or not since it's a hobby, right? ;) Hehe yeah, I guess not many keep their cars for this long. I don't see myself selling this car... but I will get myself more cars in the future!
@@bkorven In any case, it is an individual, special car that you don't see everywhere. Especially with a V8 diesel in this vehicle class, this was only available from Mercedes. In any case, Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series had a maximum of 6 cylinder biturbo. Has the engine been chip tuned or is it original? If I were you, I wouldn't sell this car either, I'm sure there are a lot of memories attached to it. have fun with it.
@@ugurlale3430 Yeah, Mercedes was the only manufacturer to put a V8 diesel in this size of car, which is cool. The engine was chip tuned before, now it has tuned ECU-software instead. There are definitely fond memories attached to it, but I also just like the car for what it is! Thank you!
nice car , did you had any major engine problems since you have it ? like overheating … turbo issues , i saw from your videos that you have it for about 9 years , nice :)
Hey! Thanks! Sorry about the late response. Any major engine problems? No! It has never overheated, and there has never been any problems with the turbos. There has been a periodic problem with the glow plug light going on and off. Other than that.. outstanding reliability.
Yeah, the first video I uploaded with this car was actually as far back as in 2008, or roughly 14 years ago today. How the years fly by!

Hi i have a e400cdi (om628) do you know if it kan make similar power as yours. Or are there to many differances with these motors?
Hi! OM629 got new turbochargers and an improved fuel system, which increased power significantly. You should still be likely be able to reach ~340hp or so with a proper exhaust and an ECU-tune.
Hey man, i have a E320 CDI OM648 and i was wondering how is the transmission holding up with 1000nm of torque? Have you done anything to the tranny or is it stock? And would you recommend buying a W211 E400 cdi? Or should i go for the facelift E420cdi?
Go for the facelift 420cdi it has no sbc brakes and the eletronics are much more reliable but i dont know much about the v8 cdi biturbo engine.
Also the 420 cdi (om629) has a 7speed while the 400cdi (om628) has a 5 speed, however the om628 has solenoid injectors while om629 has piezo injectors, which means you can use the DID1 ecu from baldur to heavily modify the om628 like the om648...

How has ur v8 diesel treated these past couple years?
It's been good, but I haven't driven it very much! Will be starting doing so now from this summer. Just got a problem with the charge regulator, so I'm about to replace it.

Yes! The one persistent problem I've got with this engine, haha. Not sure if it's the relay, or worn contact somewhere. The indicator comes on and off.
Anything done to create that rumble? Also how is it not making any smoke?
A modified exhaust system 😉 It does smoke a little.. but anyhow, smoke is unburnt fuel. Burn the fuel, instead of having it leave through the exhaust system 😁
In other words, a properly tuned software can lead to less (or none) smoke.
