    I know it is not your primary focus for RUclips, but would love a shoe break down for the Under Armor running line. One of the lesser known brands I would say, and would love to hear your input on the different trainers they offer

    Stephen I always used the mindset of 5% under-trained is much much better than 5% overtrained. Have stayed relatively healthy and had good results.

    that was a very positive session you had there, depending on how important this half marathon is to you, and if you are feeling good, i might approach it by pacing the first 10 or 15k at PB pace to get a gauge on your potential to break the PB, and then backing off to save the legs for the lead up to your marathon

  • @autokar123
    @autokar123 Год назад

    11:34 I love that part. But how do you find your achievable marathon pace? Do you have some specific sessions that tell you what level you're at?

    Hey. Hope you are doing ok. Just listened to your latest podcast on Spotify Road to the Olympics. Sorry to hear you are having such a tough time of it right now, take care. I know I should probably know better commenting on your training after your thoughts on people talking about Sifan Hassan' training. But. I think making changes to your program half way through is a risk. Is there someone you trust that can take a look at your program and advise you on whether a change is necessary, hard to make good decisions in the moment. (Love all your videos and content is a given)

    I'm curious if you still stand by this advice given your recent results. No shade at all, this is an experiment and you now have the results of the experiment. Does what you thought then still stand?

    Any wisdom on whether to keep pushing if you can't hit your race pace in training? I have HM training plans suggesting 10k plus of recent race pace but I can barely run it for 2km intervals outside of an actual race.

    • @cameronogilvie3364
      @cameronogilvie3364 Год назад

      Dumb question but you have actually completed a race at that speed right? I feel like people often think they should be hitting a pace but they don't really quite

    • @RunScottish
      @RunScottish Год назад

      @@cameronogilvie3364 thanks Cameron. It's a pace I managed for the first hour of a half in May so I think a reasonable estimate of my LT.I feel miles stronger since but can't run it for 20 minutes in training.

    • @cameronogilvie3364
      @cameronogilvie3364 Год назад +2

      @@RunScottish fair enough. My first thought is that if you could hit that pace recently for a very large portion of the race, then you may be a bit overtrained. I've definitely found that if my training paces are a little too aggressive then sometimes I end up slower until I back off for a little bit

    • @RunScottish
      @RunScottish Год назад

      @@cameronogilvie3364 ok fair play. Think I'm going to try hitting the harder stuff a little slower for a week or two then will see where I am. Thanks.

    Great video.
    I have a question: how do you adapt training (to get the right lactate numbers/effort) when there is high humidity?
    Do you have a spreadsheet or something that says: at above 20C and 70% humidity add 5 seconds per KM, at 80% add 10 seconds, etc.
    I really struggle with sessions right now, because we have had above 20C and 70% or higher humidity for some days now and would like to know how to adapt without having a lactate analyzer.

    • @stephenscullion262
      @stephenscullion262  Год назад +3

      It’s a good question and it probably slows you down a lot more than you think, for example instead of 3.20 per km, I might be 335 and that’s simply heat / humidity.. really takes its toll

    • @stephenscullion262

      Usually 4 x 2 miles around race effort with 2mins rest, 3 x 3 miles - 3 mins rest, then perhaps 6-8 miles progressive from just outside race effort, finishing at race effort
