- The Marshall Studio JTM ST20H is Marshall's new all tube/valve take on their classic JTM45, only in a smaller package, and with a slightly different look. The look is even more vintage than on the JTM45. So what about the sound? Well, that's what we're here to find out.
Enjoy!

I have the jhs little black box for my blues deluxe. It's so nice to set the clean channel to edge of breakup and turn the volume down to bedroom volume. Even at the end of the delay and reverb chain. It works.
Great video. I love the sound of a marshal.
Yeah, it sure is a handy thing.
Yep. Sounds terrific.
There are a bunch of amazing amps at this kind of price point. The PRS HDX 20 is a joy to play. The Marshall mini plexi is awesome, The PRS Tremonti 20w is a beast, and the updated Blackstar heads are sounding killer.
It is where the heat is in the market, so you can get a lot of amp for the money.
The tonal harmonics around 5:25 are gorgeous! ❤🎸
That's an seriously good amp, Excellent playing as usual.
Thanx Elmo 👍
And thank you :)
It has no reverb
Sounds great Elmo!
Great demo, Marshall are really nailing it with these amps.
They sure are.
very cool amp , im amazed the nameplate , how it looks vs the usual ,
looks totally different and in the 90´s i had the old jcm 800 series and i thought that is vintage today 😁
Yeah :)
Sounds really great! Thanks for reviewing!
Cheers!
Yup. That’s the one
😊
Sounded great Elmo. Sounded even better since it was you playing👍. It definitely had that vintage Marshall vibe going on. The sound had that signature Marshall growl that I love. Price seemed fair for that much amp. Maybe this summer....
that sounds awesome, plug in an SG and you got Angus or Malcolm got to get me 1 of them
Brilliant playing, what a good vid, massive advice to all
Thanks 😊
Here in the US its almost double in price. Psionic Audio does an in depth examination of the build quality of the components. Its worth about $1000 in the US.
Just by the looks I want one 😎
Pure dope jam up❤
Cheers!
Hello
I love that Marshall sound - Great !
Cool 😊
Thanks for the review Elmo!!!!🙏✌️❤️
I want this in 1w version. Similar like 50th anniversary amps.
Sounds like this is the real McCoy 🤟😎
Hey Elmo ~ cool amp, although there are better options out there for the same money. The Friedman Runt 20 comes to mind for sure.
In the US, yes. In the Uk, this is very good value
The Runt 20 is 1600€. The ST20H is 899€ like he mentioned at the beginning of the video. Not at all the same money.
As always, your video is great 😊
Upea video, Elmo
Kiitos 😊
Hello Elmo! When are you going to try out the toughest competitor at your favorite Roland cube? I'm talking about the new famous Katana air EX. You now have a big competitor to try
😀
EXCELLENT.
Would like to see you review the orange super crush 100!!
The 5 watt mode sounds good. Wonder how that compares to the Laney Lionheart L5 Studio head.
I hope you wear ear plugs with a volume up to 110 dB!
What? (See what I did there?)
I was thinking that same!
How similar does the sv20h sound to it? I've just paid to rent the jtm. I also got the sv20h as well
Pretty similar, but the SV20 is more like the 1987x or 1959SLP, while the JTM is more like the JTM45.
@@MrPolevaulter I've heard the jtm is more smooth, while the slp is more aggressive.
Are you sure it was in 5 watts mode, because it did not sound like that. Perhaps they meant... 25 watts! Nice review, and the amp sounds great. However, this looks to me like a collectors thing.
Cheers!
@@MrPolevaulter keep up the good work!
Great playing Elmo ! thanks for the review ! what is the difference between this one and SV20H ? thx !
SV20 sounds a lot cleaner, modern breakup
It sounds a bit flubby in the low end compared to the Studio Vintage, correct?
Maybe a bit, although it's tough to say, as it's been a while since I tried that.
I hear what you mean. Could be RUclips compression. Could be the mic placement or mics itself. Might be the editing software. Might be some pedals that are in use doing it. Might not be what was heard in the room. 🤷🏼♀️ 😊
Roll some low end off to clean that up
Def flabby
👍🤘
😊
Is it worth just short of a grand though Elmo🤔
Or, with a 899 budget can I get better 2nd hand.?
Where do you live??
It depends on what you want/need. It also depends on what you can find second hand.
Is that a db meter behind you hitting as high as 113? Don't think I could play that in my bedroom. :)
I wanted so much to like this and in a way I do in that it is 90%+ all the way there but something is missing compared to vintage Marshalls. The harsh spit in your face treble seems to be missing - filtered out by modern technology ? Marshalls of old used to kick you in the nuts if you got the settings wrong - this seems a bit tame ?
I thought it was very nice, although the 1987x is better imo.
i have the combo it's a very mellow amp unlike any marshall, i think it has a lot to do with speaker the creamback m 65 is mellow, but together with my other cab with a greenback it has more of what youre missing.
How is the combo? I am thinking of getting it, is it good with pedals?
I would have rolled the bass almost completely off... When I run my Fender Deluxe Reverb the treble is at 7 and the bass at 2.. Should have done the same here
I still have never figured out this everything at noon amps don't sound good with everything at noon so you cannot give a true Demo of a amp with everything at noon
I did try other settings as well if memory serves.
I really wanted one of these till I saw the U.S. markup. Screw that. Getting a Friedman.
I cannot afford a JTM 45 but I am building one from a kit much much cheaper.
Cheers!
I would have too, if they shipped to Australia lmao. Unfortunately they had one here but I don't think they sell them anymore
O waw .🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣amazing.🤣🤣🤣🤣
How on earth do you think this is vintage?
What do you mean?
???
@@MrPolevaulterwell....... I guess he doesn't know?
Really a Marshall with no Les Paul sad
Ever heard of a relatively unknown guitar player called Jimi Hendrix?
