theres still plenty of good smash in 2023 though. light spargo and zomba all have really exciting playstyles. plus a lot of emerging talent like muteace apollokage big d kurama etc. like there are campy characters but theres more people that dont play like that.
Pre covid meta was hella frenetic, the best characters were hard characters (Joker, Peach, Zss), the game was balanced, with patches and hope. Now... the player who plays the lamest/campy with the most insanely broken characters that carry bad players are the ones who win, with a shity online system, and abandoned by the devs and balance team leaving us with no patches wohoo...

Your character is viable if they can either: A) camp you out and play chicken the whole time B) is blatantly overtuned with broken "comeback" mechanics (usually reserved for dlc fighters) C) has one degenerate win condition to try and cheese the whole game from the opponent D) a combo of one or more of he aforementioned points

@@timjim7163 Ult being the most balanced is debatable (an even if that's the case that ain't saying much when it comes to smash lol) I wouldn't consider getting your stock robbed at 40 cause lucario got one read balanced tho "Ult is the most dishonest smash game" would be more accurate with how blatantly overtuned some characters are designed and some of the degenerate nonsense they can get away with. Even bottom tiers like mac have ko punch which i don't consider balanced, its just jank and not the fun kind

Hard disagree, I think you're cherry picking. 2023 had the mutace genesis run, mk Leo's hype aegis and joker sets also at genesis, spargo's win streak at one point (forget the tournament name) and 2020 has also had his fair share of boring matches such as when sonic started winning wi fi tournaments during the COVID era.
