The reason Neo had to fly to the highway from the Chateau, rather than 'just going back the way he came', is because they ACTUALLY transitioned away from the city restaurant they started in back when they followed Persephone out. They're already in the Chateau for that big stupid fight (like, did you think that was just another room in the restaurant?), and they use the keys the Keymaker makes for them to go BACK to the city when making their escape and leaving Neo behind. So from where Neo was, yes, every room and every door leads to a Chateau in the mountains, because that's literally where he's standing, and he doesn't have any of those keys that make a door connect to somewhere else. All the other doors they took to get there have since closed.
@@lostchild It sucks that only Morpheus realized this. Its also ironic because now the machines are the captain now instead of the humans (like in the past).
I'm guessing he didn't understand that when they left with Persephone, they traveled to the chateau. It seems pretty easy to follow to me but you never know what someone missed
@@Matt_Bright_1983 Knowing how they watch movies during "first viewing", I am certain he was making notes on kiss scene while Persephone locked and opened door with a key.
There's actually another faster way for Neo to get close to Morpheus and Trinity, they forgot that the Key makers's jail cell where he made a crap ton of those keys was still in the castle he was in, he could have easily went back to the cell, grab a couple of keys, and use then to try to get to his team quickly.
This is probably one of my favorite NC reviews, Agent Schmuck(er) is one of my favorite throw away characters, I'm surprised no one in this review yelled something like "Mother Schmucker!"
lol why does Jesus wear a cross in his chest in this video? Like "oh, I am the son of God, better wear a sculpture of an unbelievable cruel execution tool in my chest because... well, because of fashion"
People seem to think that's quite a religious symbol. I guess Christianity doesn't have many but that was a cruel day. Why would we want to remember it?
Cross was as sign of God even in old testament when israelis had their camp in shape of cross (description in book of numbers)and hebrew word Tav which mean mark was in shape of cross and that israelis in Egypt before last plague with lamb blood marked their dors with Tav(cross) symbol. Also High priest that was in center of israeli camp during ceremonies said behold the hand, behold the nail which means that all this needed to happen to fullfil prophecy.
One thing I still don't get is why this movie is called matrix RELOADED even though the matrix was RELOADED in matrix REVOLUTION and the REVOLUTION happend in matrix RELOADED
Things you are pointing out as mistakes or bizarre choices is what makes this movie so rewatchable. They are memorable. Extended dialogues with philosophical questions, weird theories, the ritual/sex scene, the constanct action with cool visuals and choreography. And Hugo Weaving created a unique character with very little.
Shmuckers is the Erfworld currency. I don't suppose that's what's referenced here, but I like to point out Erfworld is awesome, nay, Ossomer, every chance I get. :-D
well using my knowledge of Assassin's Creed, the Reincarnation cycle of the Hindu Religion, and a little bit of Dead Space lore I think I can Translate just what the flying fudgecicle The Architect is saying. Apperentally, Neo is a reincarnation of a faulty programming error of the matrix itself that makes him an exact counter of the Matrix's function. His past lives have all done this before, following the chain of events that should lead to the freedom of Humanity. However, the Architect always manages to stop this by causing a complete system's reset of the Matrix while terminating the body of Neo's past life. THIS time. However, he is refraining from doing yet another system wipe because either he knows that this incarnation of Neo is going to do something different that will form a compromise, he knows some cancerous entity is building within the Matrix that only Neo will destroy, or he's just fucking tired of Resetting the Damn Hard drive and reinstalling all the damn mods he has running.
+Danny Caracciolo I'll do you one better: Neo is a "Messiah" archetype. The purpose of "The One"--the Messiah--is to sacrifice himself and thereby restore order within the Matrix. Balancing an equation, as the Architect would say.For the most part, THE ONE (TM) has been more-or-less predictable in making the "greater good" choice. It just so happens that Neo--our current One--has decided to say, "I am not a number: _I am a free man!_" and he goes for the other option. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.My reading of the scene: The Architect is _bored_. He's been through this so many times...but he's never counted on The One choosing his own path.
Danny Caracciolo i think smith is the one. the matrix is reset when the one reaches the source. smith merged with neo while he was jacked to the source. therefore the matrix was reset and the anomaly destroyed. makes sense because smith removed his ear piece, but still acted like an agent. he was a rogue program. the anomaly. the one.
sooooo, he was a bug that kept returning no matter what the architect tried throughout each new system reset. BUT once a virus appeared and the bug actually stopped it the architect just said, "okay, FINE. you can stay."
Well turns out, Neo choosing to save Trinity is actually what saved humanity. Obviously everyone will choose to save humanity and sacrifice a person, and the Architect knew they will choose that, but it's actually his love towards Trinity is what broke the Architect's system.
A translation of the Architect's speech would be something like: Hi, I'm the Architect, sorry if I speak weird but I don't know how to interact with humans. I did the first Matrix, it was a paradise so perfect nobody believed. I did the second Matrix, it was a hell so chaotic nobody believed. The Oracle was designed to study and understand humans so she helped me and we realize that the Matrix cannot predict free will, so we did an equation that calculates free will with a 99% of accuracy. The One and the people of Zion are the result of that 1% that is left. The Matrix will collapse so we need the One to fuse with the code to restart the program and then take that 1% of the population to rebuild Zion. This has happened 5 times already and now it's your turn.
@@angusng816 I'm sorry no, no no. If you can't see the unnecessary dumb sex jokes, annoying stereotyped human characters, , confusing and over the tope action scenes, nonexistent plot, repetitive formula in all 5 movies... Well good for you

Mario Hyrulia Meh. I'm not too big on Doug's impersonations of other characters. It's why I never really liked Demo Reel. I kinda feel like Nostalgia Critic is going in the direction of Demo Reel.
Alright here's the thing that never made sense to me, how can Zion have been destroyed before if it still exists now? Zion exists outside of the matrix, right? So the rebooting of the matrix should have nothing to do with Zion. Even if it did that makes the destruction of Zion irrelevant as it'll just be rebuilt again. The ONLY way it works is if it exists inside of another Matrix.
basically, the 5 previous incarnations of tom were given the same choice, and all chose to save zion, rather than the girlfriend, whereas the final incarnation of tom made the other choice. the other 5 presumably saved zion for decades, but died in the process.
Zion is also a tool that the machines use to control the humans, a contingency plan. With humans living in Zion, even if the Matrix fails (again), they can just go there and get more humans
Zach Spears ooooh that makes sense. But that begs the question how often does the messiah "spawn"? and if he looks the same why don't they have drawing or pictures in Zion to be like. "hey, this is the dude, do what he says." Also how can a program/bug/glitch have a physical body?
18:50 i know this is old, but hear me out 😅: The palace Neo is at, is IN the mountains. He got there when Persefone hacked a door in the kitchen of the building. Merv got out of there also by hacking the door, leaving Neo efectively stuck halfway around the world.
This movie blew my 15 year old mind when I first saw it in theaters and for years the Matrix Reloaded was my favorite movie. I would watch it on HBO whenever it came on. It was like an event for me. I also rented this along with Revolutions on Netflix. This was back before Netflix had their streaming service. Neo was like a really cool hero for me. I Remember I used a picture of him stopping the bullets in the chateau as the picture for my windows account and I even used it to make a Tshirt. But of course as a I got older I started to see the flaws with this movie and I realized it wasn't as great as I thought it was. And now as a grown adult this video made me realize just how ridiculous it is. I'll always remember it for the crazy action scenes it had though.
Honestly people who dont like action movies like this are mainly into capeshit culture. Its that simple. Anything that has reflection or thinking is obviously not gonna sit well with them
18:45 I still don't get how could Doug get that mountain scene completely backwards! It's pretty clear in the movie that he's stuck in the Castle, and only the keymaker can go somewhere else using a key.
+KrossoverGod I could be wrong, but if the room through the door didn't change when he left, Neo could just walk back into it. Even if he can't open new "paths", he can use the one already there.
Malcom Chase It drives me insane how can people get that wrong. And it's ok for you, since you're just commenting on a video and probably can't remember the movie well, but Doug can't be excused! Sure, Neo could walk back in, but he would simply walk into the castle, since that's where they were the whole time! They didn't "use their hack powers put him in the mountains" he was already there! Remember the previous fight scene with all the weapons? It took place in the castle, it's 100% clear in the movie! It's the keymaker and the others who used a key to "warp" to the garage, and then once they closed the door the shortcut went away, leaving Neo stuck there! Just think about it, you open a shortcut using a key, then once you close the door it goes away; it's absurd to think that the warp was opened after they closed the door.
KrossoverGod Yeah, if it's like that, then Doug is completely wrong. He makes it sound like the door to the balcony is the "portal", like in his sketch.
+Lisa Lucente Well, Doug threw out the theory afterwords, and MatPat found it in the trash (and we all know from the Son of the Mask review anything found in the trash is worth reviewing!) and I think MatPat was able to carry it out where Doug didn't (although MatPat himself probably heard it from someone else)
19:08 - No, he wasn't 'hacked' into the mountains; they already were in the mountains. The keymaker 'hacked' into the car park but, when the door was shut, it went back to normal
Actually it turns out that the Wachowski's were planning to do the Zion is another Matrix layer but the studio thought the target audience would be too stupid to understand it.
I thought it was because the studio deemed it too dark as it meant there really was no way out. It would have made perfect sense but it would have been rather unsettling, albeit cool.
I thought this one was an..*OK* movie. Neither good nor bad, it's a pretty enjoyable movie. Obviously a step down from the original Matrix movie, but..still nowhere near as bad as the last one, _Revolutions_.
Brandon Roberts Yeah, that's fair. I will say, though, that I'm always surprised that people take Cameron's _Avatar_ movie so seriously. I mean, if it was between the _Matrix_ movies and the _Avatar_ movie..I'd say that the _Matrix_ movies at least had more meat for us to chew on. _Avatar_ was just pure fluff; less substance than cotton candy.
***** Well, at least they waited a decent amount of time (at least *8* years) before releasing another _Avatar_ movie. Credit where credit is due, I suppose.

Are we _totally_ sure this isn’t one of those deals where the directors weren’t just screwing around and us poor saps are stuck explaining?
Every time I watch the review for the first _Matrix,_ I *always* watch the next two immediately after.
I absolutely love all the extra skits you put in for these reviews. I bet you all have a lot of fun doing them.
lol why does Jesus wear a cross in his chest in this video? Like "oh, I am the son of God, better wear a sculpture of an unbelievable cruel execution tool in my chest because... well, because of fashion"
People seem to think that's quite a religious symbol. I guess Christianity doesn't have many but that was a cruel day. Why would we want to remember it?
I think it is meant to be a reminder of what Jesus chose to endure for us and our sins.
Nate J. The zombie carpenter! Oh, I love that and I'm gonna use it. XD
Peter did try to stop them, he cut of one of the guards' ear. But Jesus stopped him.

+Gabriel Tomasini The Matrix 3: The Return of Smith's Revenge: The Reckoning
(watch tfs)
Punished "Venom" Smith. Neo, I'm already a malware.
well using my knowledge of Assassin's Creed, the Reincarnation cycle of the Hindu Religion, and a little bit of Dead Space lore I think I can Translate just what the flying fudgecicle The Architect is saying.
Nicholas Tosoni good addon to the theory.
Danny Caracciolo i think smith is the one. the matrix is reset when the one reaches the source. smith merged with neo while he was jacked to the source. therefore the matrix was reset and the anomaly destroyed. makes sense because smith removed his ear piece, but still acted like an agent. he was a rogue program. the anomaly. the one.
Chris Andrew But Neo was one too, because without him Smith would not be destroyed.
sooooo, he was a bug that kept returning no matter what the architect tried throughout each new system reset. BUT once a virus appeared and the bug actually stopped it the architect just said, "okay, FINE. you can stay."
Zuul is at 19:50.
That's more for me to have a shortcut than anything else
3:36 - Doug has just slipped his thoughts of MIB International into this clip 4 years prior. AMAZING.
Well turns out, Neo choosing to save Trinity is actually what saved humanity. Obviously everyone will choose to save humanity and sacrifice a person, and the Architect knew they will choose that, but it's actually his love towards Trinity is what broke the Architect's system.
Its not Neo. Its Tom. You heard the NC right?

I don't know why, but makes me laugh so hard!

Mario Hyrulia Meh. I'm not too big on Doug's impersonations of other characters. It's why I never really liked Demo Reel. I kinda feel like Nostalgia Critic is going in the direction of Demo Reel.
"Would you like to order?"
"I'll have the cake."
ROFLMAO!!!
MonsterTeegs I never got that either
basically, the 5 previous incarnations of tom were given the same choice, and all chose to save zion, rather than the girlfriend, whereas the final incarnation of tom made the other choice. the other 5 presumably saved zion for decades, but died in the process.
***** That also makes sense, though I believe that's wishful logic, as I don't remember any in-film evidence of that.
I was drinking a cup of tea which I then proceeded to accidentally spit with laughter when 15:05 happened. 🤣

Except that this video doesn't have any valid criticism of the movie but if you only liked it because it looked cool that makes sense
Toni Hill no valid criticism? Interesting...
Yes, no valid criticism.
Honestly people who dont like action movies like this are mainly into capeshit culture. Its that simple. Anything that has reflection or thinking is obviously not gonna sit well with them

2:44 "No! I love that car!"
Replayed this 5 times and it's still funny, haha!
Malcom Chase
It drives me insane how can people get that wrong.
KrossoverGod thanks, I didnt get what critic was complaining about

+Lisa Lucente Well, Doug threw out the theory afterwords, and MatPat found it in the trash (and we all know from the Son of the Mask review anything found in the trash is worth reviewing!) and I think MatPat was able to carry it out where Doug didn't (although MatPat himself probably heard it from someone else)

I think it's the "Smucker's" ad.
"With a name like Smucker's, it HAS to be good." Now I can't stop saying that in Hugo Weaving's voice.
Mr. Algiacritic, you must reconsider.
Same thoughts exactly!
+Brandon Roberts by "avatar" i hope you mean the one with the tail fucking
Brandon Roberts Yeah, that's fair.
I will say, though, that I'm always surprised that people take Cameron's _Avatar_ movie so seriously.
I mean, if it was between the _Matrix_ movies and the _Avatar_ movie..I'd say that the _Matrix_ movies at least had more meat for us to chew on. _Avatar_ was just pure fluff; less substance than cotton candy.
+Paradox Acres Same. Funny how an effects test is the highest-grossing film of the last few decades, huh?
