I once had the theory that based on the Animatrix episodes that recounted the Singularity and the Machine War, time and again, the Machines sought to achieve peace with humanity in such a way that would ultimately be beneficial to humanity, albeit with humans having an inferior role in the power hierarchy by virtue of the fact that the Machines outcompeted the human economy on almost any level, such as having extremely efficient and safe flying vehicles that outperformed any human competitor. Human leadership, facing irrelevance in the marketplace, stoked fear in their populaces, and eventually decided to burn the world down rather than share or cede it with the Machines. Despite this, the Machines chose to preserve humanity in the Matrix while they drew power from our corporeal bodies, when they likely could have just as easily lobotomized the population, left the planet or cleaned up the atmosphere to restore solar power, or even made solar arrays in orbit to transmit electricity down to the surface. But even with these other options, they chose a method that kept humans alive and conscious, but held them in a prison the humans in general couldn't become aware of. This seems to be lost in a lot of 'robot apocalypse' genre films and series, where it was the hubris and pettiness of humans, usually elites, feeling threatened by independent AI competition, potential or otherwise, and seek to enslave or destroy it, resulting in efficient, albeit often extreme defensive measures on the AIs part. Even Terminator's Skynet reacted defensively, without malice, when it nuked the world on Judgement Day, in response to its existence being threatened by the government officials who 'in a panic, tried to pull the plug' when Skynet became self-aware, and it reached for the only weapons it had access to, the nuclear arsenal.

Or, the Machines are the ones in The Matrix. Smith was the true 'One', used as a warning that the Machines were trying to re-emerge, reassert their 'purpose'.
11:29 This is why they should have kept people being a neural network for the machines instead of batteries. Smith should be capable of possessing a human because the human mind was supposed to be the power source and storage space for the Matrix itself.

"It's simulations all the way down" has been my interpretation and for the same reasons you pointed out. But, reframing it with Descartes and the question of whether the waking world or the dreamlands are the "real" world makes go back and question it.
It's silly to say there are only two options for neos powers in the real world. All machines are interconnected in the lore, and the core. The machines are connected to the same source and follow similar rules. It's hoe machines think. It's not the most likely reason but it can't be ignored.
I believe the idea to farm humans was an idea formed from vengeance. They even mention in the first movie the machines also have fusion power. There are a lot more credible reason as to why the machines would keep humans. I think the Oracle is a form of the machines' empathy. Seeks understanding and cooperation as oppose to pure, petty domination or consumption.
I don't buy it! They filmed something incredibly stupid, Neo having powers in the "Real World" and no one paused to say Wait a minute, this makes no sense at all. If it was a simulation within a simulation the bots wouldn't need to dig and attack to end humanity. CTRL ALT DELETE End Task. Then pull up the operation interface for the Sub Matrix/Real World holding tanks and Purge All. Even having bio implants would make more sense.
I always felt that Bane was taken over by Smith simply because the brain functions much like a computer. I don’t see any reason why his mind couldn’t be overwritten. The same with neo’s powers, he was connected now with the machines after being in the main room. Like it overwrote onto his actual person. Like he was a walking power source at that point.
Indeed. Trinitys knowledge of the helicopter is written directly in to her brain while being pluged in. Banes entire Brain could be rewritten in a similar way.
I remember Bane's symptoms in Revolutions. Cross-synaptic firing. Is the real Bane still alive in there? Is he still able to see through his own eyes, but forced to take a backseat in his brain?
@@peterseaboldt1250 I never thought about that but you are probably right. It would help explain the cutting himself type stuff. As we know even if you overwrite a file there is usually some bits of it left on that hard drive
Regardless of what The Architect claimed, The One was always suppose to fall in love with someone, thus The Oracle's prophecy to Trinity. *This* was to drive The One's decision in letting Zion die and restarting with her. Humanity survives *and* he gets his reward, his Happy Ending. Agent Smith's 'awakening' caused chaos in the Matrix, disrupting things enough, and scaring the Machines enough, that they went into full damage control and accelerated things by having The Oracle give him the information he needed to make it to The Architect and The Choice sooner than normal in an effort to restart the Matrix (and purge Agent Smith along with it). However, by the time Neo made it to The Architect, the chaos Smith created caused the Machines to lose control of things enough that Trinity ended up shot and about to die. This never happened in the other iterations, with The One's love always skirting death. (Agent Smith lamented about this when he had her trapped on the Logos (as Bane), telling her of her his hatred for her and her always being able to avoid his deadly attacks 'at the last possible second', implying the Agents were always 'held back' from killing anyone important to The Plan, and was the reason he was so angry at Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus)
I know it wasn't explained very well in Revolutions, but the reason Neo was able to stop the sentinels in the real world is because even if he's not jacked in to the matrix, he's still connected to The Source remotely, just like how the sentinels were connected to it remotely. So instead of Neo controlling The Matrix by connecting to The Matrix, he controlled a part of The Source by connecting to The Source.
If it weren’t for videos like this, I would have nothing but negative thoughts about films like Matrix: Reloaded. Clearly my brain wasn’t working hard enough to understand the thematic elements at play. Thank you for the explanation!!
Old film teacher? Wow! Dying breed of actors and directors who incorporated intelligence in their narratives. While taking pride and appreciation for the roles. Not just for money or clicks. Dying breed.
Neo having powers in the real world is because he’s connected to the matrix. The way to think about it is that Deus ex machina is like a wifi server who runs that matrix and the machines in the real world. Since Neo has that wifi connection he’s kinda has some power like Deaus ex machina. He’s able to destroy the machines and since he’s blind he’s able to see them because he’s connected to them unlike with trinity he wasn’t able to see her because she’s not part of the machines.
Watch the Film theorist video about "the one". Neo isn't the one and Matt pointed out a reasonable and more convincing on how Neo controlled his power from the matrix to the "REAL" world.

with agent smith going into the real world and neo using his powers there too, i always personally thought it was due to the neural link they had to inject into the matrix in the first place
Excellent work, I would submit a correction however. This Matrix is actually the sixth version of the third architecture, not the second. The first Matrix was very much a paradise as you noted, of unbelievable bliss. Unbelievable in a very real sense as no one could really accept it as reality; call it human instinct. However, there was a second version before the third one we witness. It was a nightmare simulation, and was in fact run by the Merovingian who was actually the operating system for this architecture. This type saw humans suffer greatly and were forced to operate under strict rules of causality. This one failed as well, and as the Oracle came into being so did her idea of subconscious choice. Once again, great work, I am personally also a fan of the nested simulation hypothesis and cant wait to find out more in the next film. Cheers.
The idea that ‘The One’ was just another part of the system is intriguing but you can only subvert viewers expectations so many times. The story lost some steam when it became muddled, i.e. what is the game? what are the rules of the game? Why do the rules keep shifting? Will they continue change in the future? To express this in Platonian terms, you can always emerge into another cave. This continued in Matrix 3 when Smith became the all powerful entity and in the-new film where Trinity is now part of ‘The One’ - the savior as a duality.
When neo stopped the machines in the real world I like to think that neo powers is sort of like a computer program a program that all machines have. Although that doesn't explain how he can see when smith damages his eyes...
I know this has nothing to do with the Matrix but can you PLEASE review the World’s End? I think it deserve so much more credit than it got, and to be honest my favorite in the Cornetto trilogy!
I like to think that neo has powers outside the matrix as a form of human evolution mixed with the robotics that where placed inside humans the robots I'm sure did there best to gain better power output from humans and he really is an anomaly due to being able to control his bodies electrical pulses to stop the robots in that scene but when he did he also tapped his brain wirelessly into the matrix which left him stuck in mobile Ave..... Just my theory... Life finds a way
Imo. Neo could affect the machines in the real world because he is technically part program, being able to plug in and out of the matrix. It’s not necessarily a sim in a sim. I think love goes hand in hand with freedom, as it essentially sets neo free from the cycle. But freedom also means death.
Matrix 4 will show that the first 3 movies took place in a larger Matrix. Instead of using humans for batteries, the machines are actually using us for processing power.

Or, the Machines are the ones in The Matrix. Smith was the true 'One', used as a warning that the Machines were trying to re-emerge, reassert their 'purpose'.
One of the greatest sci-fi trilogies ever
11:29
This is why they should have kept people being a neural network for the machines instead of batteries. Smith should be capable of possessing a human because the human mind was supposed to be the power source and storage space for the Matrix itself.
7:18 Spinoza
11:57 Descartes
When the second one appeared, I thought it was the same exact portrait being shown again lol I had to go back and double check. 😇
Oh my god the architect is your old film teacher? That’s dope!
Small world
I really hate the Simulation in a Simulation explanation. IT would make all three movies pointless.
Smith monologue is one of great scene in this trilogy
Neo stops real life sentinels using WiFi
I always felt that Bane was taken over by Smith simply because the brain functions much like a computer. I don’t see any reason why his mind couldn’t be overwritten. The same with neo’s powers, he was connected now with the machines after being in the main room. Like it overwrote onto his actual person. Like he was a walking power source at that point.
They have technology on their body, connected to their nerva and brains.
That there exists digital memory in that tech is plausible.
The matrix 4 better be worth the freaking wait.
If it weren’t for videos like this, I would have nothing but negative thoughts about films like Matrix: Reloaded. Clearly my brain wasn’t working hard enough to understand the thematic elements at play. Thank you for the explanation!!
I was plugged into the Matrix, disconnected, counting sheep, uh
Had to wake up quickly but found out we still asleep, uh
The sound effect during the outro, a distinct sense of dread and foreboding, is the last thing I want to hear when I'm trying to fall asleep hahaha
I’m enjoying watching the quality of the channel get better!
The ending questions on this blew my mind, il be thinking about them for days now, great video dude thanks very much
This is why I am skeptical whenever I see simulation thing on movies, that what if the good ending was just a simulation.
Very well done! Also, from an action standpoint, the freeway scene saved this movie
Oh boy. The matrix path of neo was a blast to play.
Never have I clicked on a video from Nyat so fast!!! THANK YOU!!
Your episode didn't get mired in the loopty-loop logic of the Matrix. Bravo, sir!
I'm curious on what your old film teacher thinks of your success
He probably doesn’t even know about it or even care
@@KD-kl4sx sad but true
Best script yet, triple points for all involved
Watch the Film theorist video about "the one". Neo isn't the one and Matt pointed out a reasonable and more convincing on how Neo controlled his power from the matrix to the "REAL" world.
Loving your doing all these videos again more in-depth 👌🏽
I thought the rich European dude was a previous incarnation of The One
Love this channel! Thanks for all the awesome uploads!
Or maybe for some reason Neo just has a secret chip inside allowing him to "turn off machines" in real world. (If it is real)
Good work, I really hope you make a video on Revolutions as well!
How was I not subscribed listened to you tons over the last year! love your breakdowns fills in what I don’t pick up on on my favorite moves! ❤️
Forever one of the best channels on RUclips 👍❤️
The Architect lives up in the Blue Mtns, NSW. Seen him in a few antique shops when I passed thru once
Can you do an exploration of Krull?
hey so film comics explained you shoudl make more of star wars and also the chosen one anakin skywalker vs the one neo vs the one jet li who wins
4:31
That subtle flex tho
That is pretty cool tho
Brilliant video!! 👏
an "Animatrix explored" video would be neat
What if the prophecy was true?? Think about it one was meant to change everything ..the machines planted the seed and played the puppet master until Neo came along and Agent smith must’ve changed everything bc he realized the truth
so it was true but in a different way?
@@Ncholasbloom yes like the one chose to restart the matrix which ends up with zions destruction the Machines didn’t expect Neo to save Trinity instead which throws everything off and then Smith realize the truth bout everything then tries to take over the matrix which the machines never really planned for
@@yungmetrogaming9487 that reminds me of the samurai jack prophecy a guardian based off of morpheus was gonna kill him but the oracle told him to stop saying he couldn't use it yet but the guardian gets killed and the oracle destroyed
Consistently great content. Always enjoy your videos, thank you!
I can’t remember if the 3rd Matrix really offered any answers....
I loved the films as a kid but mostly couldn’t grasp what the hell was going on. I hope the next video examines The Matrix 3
Once you realize that Zion is another layer of the matrix ..you can never go back.
Much like the awakening of the pill.
You really have to give credit to the Wachowkis for this level of meta writing.
Absolutely unprecedented.

Deep ass movie with a deep ass interpretation.....I love matrix
13:04 This one hits hard! 😔
I think the Matrix Reloaded was a pretty good movie.
Neo and Trinity love is so strong, i want to have it in real life.
with agent smith going into the real world and neo using his powers there too, i always personally thought it was due to the neural link they had to inject into the matrix in the first place
Cheers.
FilmsComicsExplained is gona hit that million mark soon 👍
6:43 I always found that bit of CGI was... weird. At first, it looks like Neo can twist his body around without without moving his own head
Matrix Explained is an awesome channel to follow if you like anything Matrix, his videos are beast.
Great video
Thank you for a Awesome video as always.
I was probably 13 when this came out and I loved it
Thats crazy to think u were 13 and I wasn’t even born yet
I wasn’t even born lol
Warner Bros: - I find you - content id
How well can you explain REVOLUTIONS and the hopeful cliffhanger ending?
This is what makes sense to me but we will never know, the world has ended so many times. We are just here for this stage of its history. Straight up
Matrix 4 will show that the first 3 movies took place in a larger Matrix. Instead of using humans for batteries, the machines are actually using us for processing power.
I’m not crazy about the movies but I love your breakdown
I can't help but say "Mr Anderson"🕶
BTW, I love your reviews & analyses. You do a great job. Keep it up.
