2:42 - "But if writing has ever been a part of your job, you know that 'working' can also mean just staring at a computer screen in frustrated silence." As a novelist, I can confirm this is 100% true. It took me about four years to write my first book, because a lot of it is just trying to get through a writer's block or figuring out how to best word something.
Very relatable. I’m a writer trying to make a living off of it, but I also do need a part time job since I have to because writing is hard to make a living off of it. Anyway tangent aside, I typically write my novels on the fly but due to the frustration I started to outline. Either way I can relate to staring at a screen and getting mad because I can’t think of anything.
That first murder of the innocent neighbor lady legit messed me up when I watched this movie the first time. It’s so realistic and the lady is so desperate to live. It makes you think about real murders and how horrible that last moment must be for the innocent victims.

After getting traumatized by the Belko experiment, the masked man seeks the thrill of the kill by finding helpless victims and trying to restore the trauma of his terrible experience.

I watched this with my friends during a sleepover and we were getting angry. Now I live far away from all of them, I still talk with them. Good sleepover though. We watched Misery as well.
The scene where the man walks into the house and texts Maddie pictures of herself letting her know he was there reminded me of a crime by Richard Ramirez. He was out side with a victim and she just got out of her car when she felt uneasy she started looking around but saw nothing until she heard a hand tap on the car from behind her. Those types of serial killers are called hedonistic serial killers and they like toying with their victims. Those are the type you usually see in slasher films. Like Freddy Krueger or Ghostface (pretty much all of them are hedonistic). While killers like Jason Voorhees are visionary, being told to kill by a voice in their head.

2:42 - "But if writing has ever been a part of your job, you know that 'working' can also mean just staring at a computer screen in frustrated silence."
As a novelist, I can confirm this is 100% true.
