I carry a Glock 17 concealed in Maine I like the full sized gun than the smaller ones adding the mos sight seems not really an option a legal defense shoot is a close range thing if it happens do you really need this option. Great for target shooting my opinion
Why not use the shorter screws that came with the kit to attach the sight to the baseplate and the original screws for the base plate to the slide. You dont need to grind the screws. You just have them backwards
This video dates back a few years, and at that time, the Glock 17 Gen 5 MOS was supplied with 4 adapters from Glock, which is no longer the case here in Europe. In this video, I am using the one that is compatible with the Trijicon RMR No. 02 red dot sight. The screws provided with the SCRD-36 red dot sight from Vector Optics are 6x32 UNC screws and are too long. Therefore, it is necessary to shorten these two screws to prevent them from passing through and protruding from the adapter. The 4 screws provided with the Glock kit are only used to attach the adapter to the pistol slide and are M3x6 type. Consequently, you cannot use the screws from the Glock kit to attach the red dot sight.
This red dot is very similar in size to the Trijicon SRO, and like the SRO the Vector Optics will not fit in my Safariland 6354DO Als hoster without making a modification. Yes it's true, it might be a bit big for gun carry.
@@clintsantos The Vector Optics costs $180 and the Trijicon SRO $700. The Vector Optics is perfect for sports or leisure use while the SRO is suitable for professional use. The SRO is designed to withstand extreme conditions. The choice will depend on your use and the money you have
Only 2 mounting holes on the sleed for the plates.....hmmm....could Glock not have added a 3rd or 4th hole for more stbility? So that 2 screws wouldnt be taking all the force?? :)
Hey.. nice video.. well done.. I've got the same glock.. did you shoot the Vector Optics?! How it did on the range?! can you tell some feedback? I cannot choose which one to buy.. the 1x17x24 or the 1x20x28..! any advice?!
I shoot with the Frenzy 1x22x26 (RMR footprint) on the Glock 17 MOS and with the Frenzy 1x20x28 (Docter footprint) on my CZ Shadow 2. When I mounted the 1x22x26 I thought the large window was an advantage for finding the red dot quickly, but I feel like I am faster with a small window like on the Frenzy-s 1x17x24 (Shield footprint). I think I will make a video on the Frenzy-s 1x17x24 soon. I use my red dot sights for fast shooting on metal targets at a range between 10 and 15 meters.
@@w.r.ongjr9825 That's right, that's the problem on the Glock MOS and some other Optic Ready pistols. I don't have this problem on the CZ Shadow 2 Optic Ready which is better designed on the red dot location. See the Video here: ruclips.net/video/4kt_bt8F9mc/видео.html
@@reddotsight1013 I see. Will check out the video. Thanks for clarifying, I was wondering because the G43x had the screw holes protrude into the extractor channel and that causes loctite and longer screws to jam up and freeze the extractor. Good afternoon! Does this model automatically adjust the light? would it be better to carry? I'm in doubt between the one in the video, the 1x20x28 and 1x17x24…. it would be for concealed wear….. which one would you recommend?
Hello, I advise you the 1x17x24 AUT (SCRD-52), it is the version with the automatic adjustment of the brightness of the red point. Personally I have the impression that it is easier and faster to find the red dot on this version (SCRD-52 / 1x17x24) than on the versions with a large window (SCRD36 / 1X22X26).
@@diogorocha. On the SCRD-52 you will have to remove the red dot sight to change the battery. On the SCRD-50 you do not have to remove the red dot sight to change the battery (it is on the side of the sight). I enjoyed the video...am researching heavily into the option of either going for an optics mounted full size handgun or an optics ready platform with the tedious task of rigging that sight into place. By the way your background music is awesome!
If your project is to equip your gun with a red dot sight, do not hesitate, choose a platform that is "Optic Ready". Example : Glock MOS, CZ Shadow 2 OR, Canik TP9SFX, Beretta APX RDO ...
