- How to Disable the (Fn) Function Key Lock? (Fn Key Lock Remove). Today I accidentally must hit some kind of Function Key Lock (Fn) and I haven't been able to get rid of it again. This prevented me from typing lots of the letters and only got special key functions back. Not even a reboot helped. So I tried a bit around and found the solution by chance. So here's how to remove the Fn key lock! Watch and see!

I chose the wrong title and was close to delete it and then in a sudden 90% of the people found it super helpful and told me pretty much same story as you ... so I guess I leave it here for a while as long as it can help people. Thanks again for the feedback and take care.

I had to replace the AA battery in my BT version 3 keyboard. The damn FN key reset. So I had to find this vid again. I should really mark the numlock key, lol!
Awesome - thanks for the feedback 💖
Darn! No luck here...I wanted to use the Fn with Light Up/Down...(used laptop purchase), it didn't help...AND the HP Elitebook BIOS looks differently, no freaking "keyboard setting" there either, it's just insane! Thanks for your presentation anyway!
Sorry to hear that and thanks for the nice feedback anyway 👍
@@allcheckout
Thanks mate for the inspiration. My used (and nice) laptop config is just insane, I can't even navigate to the "Keyboard settings" in the BIOS, there's NO SUCH THING there, lol, I've never seen such madness. (laptop user since 1998)
I have no other problems with it, except the stupid Fn key that is disabled, tried everything what all the kind RUclipsrs and commenters said, nada. Such a pity for a nice HP Elite 8540 laptop...I could still send it back but I dunno, it's still good otherwise. Thanks again!
@@Aetila Thanks for the info. I'd never buy a HP (again). Too much trouble. Everything in HP PC's is a bit different. Not much standard. Don't see the advantage except from driving customers away ... lol. But of course .. they are built solid ... but still won't buy any more ...
@@allcheckout
Many thanks mate...I still have time to return it, on paper it is great (HP Elitebook 8540 w, quad, 8 Gb ram, 14 FHD display, 2000 USD as new in 2011, now 200 USD)...but now when I checked that stupid problem it made me think, no "Keyboard settings" at all in BIOS (found a manual, no such thing there in the BIOS), it's insane. Others showed that this problem could be solved there by keyb. activation...but I cry with frustration since there are no such settings anywhere that would deal with the keyboard. Thanks for your opinion, I have 10 days to return and lose on the shipping. My old Dell Inspiron E600 never let me down, it's 14 y.o., tired, but works well, never had such a crazy problem with it. You know, I don't like the new laptops either, they started to screw in batteries now, one can't switch them on the go and they overheat...so it a hard choice.
@@Aetila Thanks for the details. I'm not a support PRO or so, so my knowledge is also limited. Is it too late to do a 'reset this pc' (Windows reset / re-install)? It can take a couple of hours and is a bit risky ... or just use "system restore" and restore from a previous backup point (if available)? Not sure if it can help .. but maybe worth trying
Thanks it's very helpful for me
Most welcome 😊
