Growing up in the 70's and 80's was AWESOME!!! I LOVED the Duke Boy's and Soul Train. Life then was enjoying "Culture" It was NOT about tension it was a time of Peace and Love and simple enjoyment. God Bless you.

I can only find two; 1.) Republicans don't want to tax you as much as Democrats, and 2.) At least Republicans want to leave the 2nd Amendment alone.
Other than that, both grow the government and increase regulation. The only difference is pace and volume. Both create inflation and grow the debt. The only difference is that Republicans borrow and spend, while Democrats tax and spend.
Both are soft on illegal immigration, because both are tied to corporate interests and NGOs.

Except for the TV show Maud. And Flo from Mel's Diner really got on my nerves but at least stories back then usually had a storyline and journalism back then at least tried to report the actual news and uphold at least some kind of integrity. I'm not saying they didn't fudge on stuff but clearly not to the level they do today.

John, one of the things that I always tell people who think the Dukes of Hazzard is a "racist" show because of the confederate flag on the roof of the General, is that all the episodes in all the seasons of the Duke contained lessons of doing the right thing and how people should help one another. It always contained lessons about righting any wrongs. For example if the General blew out a tire and took out a fence, Bo and Luke would come back later and fix it. I haven't seen too many shows these days that work to teach the difference between right and wrong. Not once in all the years that The Dukes of Hazzard was on the air,, did I ever see or hear anything racist or demeaning towards anyone, except Roscoe and Boss, but they earned it.
But in the end, they would all have a meal or two together and break bread like a family. Even though on opposite sides you may need help from someone else who you may not like someday or vise versa. Uncle Jesse was just a fictional character, but a very wise man non the less, and he still had value in Boss Hogg as an old friend.

The sad part is that by the 90's we had reached a good equilibrium of race relations on tv, and in culture. That got blown up in the 2k's. The fact that too many people want to emigrant to America and not assimilate into this beautiful culture. The American dream doesn't work if you don't join the melting pot and hold on the the old world divisions.
We're being divided and the country's turning from a multi-ethnic nation into a multicultural one as well, like the Balkans.

Weird. I'm white and was in the Army for a decade on tanks. Pretty much all the NCOs above me were either black or Hispanic. Best damn men I ever knew and they saved me from myself time and time again. I'd go on to emulate their leadership styles myself when I became an NCO. The color of their skin had absolutely *nothing* ever to do with anything. It's how I survived deployments through four different wars. I "grew up" in the Army from the age of 17 to 27 and I'm glad I did it and would do it again in a heartbeat.
When my favorite 1SG announced he was leaving the unit right before we were to deploy I got angry. I went into his office and almost yelled "WTF, TOP!?!?! We need you on this deployment!"
He looked at me, yelled at me to get in parade rest, then smiled and said he would be back for he's being promoted and going off to the Sergeant-Major's Academy at Ft. Bliss.
"Oh...well, that's different First-Sergeant, maybe you should have said that in formation. Congratulations! You deserve it. But you best come back. Don't make me go looking for you."
"If you're not a Staff-Sergeant by the time I get back, SGT Nonya, then I'm going to be angry as hell at my successor."
That 1SG was a hell of a man - tough as nails but fair. If a soldier was screwed up, he turned to the soldier's NCOs and hammered on them just as hard as the soldier. But if you were squared away he'd back you 100% and try to get you promoted to replace messed-up NCOs. I'd go into any war following that man. He was Puerto Rican but that never mattered. We had each others' backs.
Also, I have every episode of "Have Gun Will Travel" on my Plex server - all 225 of them. I love that show and watch it over and over again.
It has good themes in it about honor, keeping your word, and how to treat people and Richard Boone was a great actor. They just don't make his kind anymore. A lot of folks in Hollywood got their start on that show to include Gene Roddenberry, Charles Bronson, John Carradine, Lon Chaney Jr. , DeForest Kelley, George Kennedy, Hal Needham, Harry Morgan, Jack Lord, Lee Van Cleef, etc. When it came to cameos and career launches, it was the Miami Vice of its day.
I've been collecting the old Western TV shows lately and find them fascinating. The only thing that came close to them in these modern times were Firefly and Longmire and even those two shows had their issues.

I bought my husband the entire Dukes series a few years ago on DVD. My mom was a single mom, raising me on her own for the first 7 yrs of my life, my father walked out. I'm also the product of teenage pregnancy in the 70's. My mom taught us family values, morals, etc. My father not so much. My mom did a great job raising 2 kids with an in and out father. I firmly believe it has to do with the examples a person is shown, how they were raised, etc. I've been married 29 yrs and we've done our best to instill these same values in our kids, in todays world and its been hard. Its not been easy when our kids see other parents that don't seem to care and those kids can do whatever never held accountable.
You have a talent for making a point without name calling, or singling out particular individuals. That's a fresh, and satisfying way to approach the issues, and problems facing us today. If we don't address these issues, our children will suffer the consequences when we pass on. This is a great concern to me, and I hope it is all parents, and Americans alike. I'm 54 yrs. old now! I grew up in SW New Hampshire and I'm still here. Beautiful mountains, farms, wildlife, lakes and rivers. Farmers markets and roadside food stands everywhere. I saw the first episode of DOH as a kid and never missed an episode after that! Friday nights at 9pm and my Mom watched Dallas at 10pm. I rode around the neighborhood on my BMX with my friend George. I was Bo and he was Luke. He wanted to be Bo but he had dark curly hair and I had blond hair so I had to be Bo! Plus, I was better looking! lol. The neighbors would get sick of hearing us doing our loud Yeeehaws everywhere while popping wheelies and jumping curbs. Funny that we were hanging Rebel flags up while our friends were calling us confused Yankees! The good ole' days! Thanks John for all the years and still entertaining us today!
Oh and my Mom watched "Snots Landing" on Thursday nights! Alec Baldwin was on that show! We hated him! lol (and his big ears)

That is the key”gone by”… We are hooked on “Perry Mason, Columbo, Green Acres, 3 Stooges etc…. There are a lot of or friends from days growing up who also re- retuning in. We love Dukes also. Star Trek with evening cocktails…. It is our Saturday night tradition. On Sunday, Columbo with Dinner. Can’t beat the lineups. Of course Cartoons, Jetsons and Flintstones. Things have changed over the past 40ish years. I'm an entity who was raised by two loving Christian parents. I was taught that we all are to be treated equally no manner who we are.
I miss living in that area with the small towns and villages where your judged based on your actions.
As a kid you were one of my heroes, because of the adventures you were part of on a TV show. It’s nice to find that, as an adult, you are still one of my heroes, because you honestly (and in earnest) represent the good in the world, our republic, the good ole USA. God bless you John, and thank you.

We have been watching Perry Mason since my husband retired!! Love the old shows. I am on Love, American Style right now...I was born in 62. The shows I watched in the late 60s and 70s showed me more about how we shouldn't be racist and that every person should be accepted on the kind of person they are. I'm not going to say it didn't exist in the 60s-70s but, it didn't exist in my world.
I went to high school ( late 1970s) in a large metropolitan area and as a consequence I had friends from all colors and creeds. It just wasn't a thing.
Somewhere along about 2010 it became a thing again. Don't know what started it but there was a mixed race guy who was President at the time so maybe that had something to do with it.
Obama started it.
We would be just fine if we wasn't bombarded with propaganda, disinformation, misinformation and lies.

I’m a 52 year old white male. I grew up around blacks my whole life. I’ve 2 half black brothers and 2 half black sisters and 1 white brother. Been married to a black lady. I’m very proud of my background. Grew up in small town Kentucky. There were a few racists but not many at all. It’s people like Al Sharpton who are making something out of nothing.

John, we are close to the same age, I used to watch both shows. What you're saying is absolutely 💯 correct and believe that this was put in overdrive a little after 2010. I'm a veteran and LEO, now retired and saw and dealt with such a drastic change around that time. I would NOT want to be a LEO in this day and age, it's toxic and made worse a couple of years ago when the "progressives" came to congress. Most Americans are intelligent enough to know exactly what's going on and why. I hope this changes next Nov and 2 years after that. John check out "The six million dollar man" and "The Bionic woman". Both shows had a lot of good black actors in. The fourth season of Airwolf had a black actor leading the team. Also check out "The greatest American hero". Another show that had a good black actors showing up in the cast. The difference is that back then that they had good parts, and weren't just stuck in for virtue signalling to say this is the first black actor, or the first women to be the star, which we all know is rubbish

I really enjoyed this video, John. Like you, I love watching MeTV because the programming on that channel really is "the good stuff". That said, I think there are things that we still need to be better about when it comes to how we treat our fellow man, black, white or whatever color they may be. MeTV is such a wonderful viewing! We've allowed some pretty horrific TV viewing through the years. I, personally, didn't know about racism, just thugs in the Underground blowing up government buildings to further their cause (Socialism, Communisn, Fascism and cannot forget Progressism). High level - there's "trash" on TV and our young people are being programmed to think and act like these nutjobs. Thank you, john, for being who you are as an example for people everywhere. We've got to take very serious what is or has happened big picture, to our country and how close we are to have our freedoms lost. I've never seen our country so divided as it is now. Our freedoms are granted to us by our Creator, not government or anybody in authority.

I know I'm leaving some out above. Also, not all the ones I listed are *currently* playing on MeTV.
Holy crap, I do that very thing. The older comedy like Amos and Andy. Love those guys. I very watched Magnum PI, The A-Team and Gilligan's Island. Older days were so much better. Thx for the vid John

I think it's obvious why the powers that be are zeroing in on The Dukes of Hazzard these days. One of the key themes of the programs was that authority does not equate to goodness. The Dukes were on the wrong side of the law, but they were the morally unambiguous good guys. Boss Hog, Roscoe, and even Enos, were in this moral gray area where they were doing wrong all the time, but had some redeeming qualities, but in the end, their lack of character showed out. The Authority was morally bankrupt.
As we march headlong into a modern authoritarian state, of course, they will bring out the knives for a program that asks such fundamental questions as "Is Lawfulness equal to goodness?" and "Is obedience to an immoral authority a virtue?"
My father having had a relatively mild stroke, and then a couple of weeks in hospital, he's now at home recovering, and I've taken him some of my DVDs of old TV series for him to watch (or mostly fall asleep in the armchair to!)
The two favourites by far are The Professionals (a '70s/'80s British cop action drama) and of course The Dukes of Hazzard! (I think he's on the second series). You don't have to tell me how friendly, wholesome and healing those programmes are!

I enjoyed lots of shows in my youth. The Dukes of Hazzard gave more sense values then the A Team. When it come to solving problems with out using unnecessary violence, The Dukes of Hazzard was the perfect show.

Picked up the Dukes of Hazzard Complete series DVD boxset a while ago. Figured the show won't be appearing on TV or streaming services anytime soon. Now I can watch it whenever. Loved the series as a kid!
I had the metal lunchbox with the " Dukes of Hazzard" picture on the front of the box and the plastic thermos . Wish I still had it .

I loved Adam-12 when I was young and still watch the re-runs today. It was a great show with valuable lessons. We seem to be more united in the past than today. I spent 6 yrs in the Navy and 6 yrs in the Navy Reserves in the 1980s-1990s and no one cared what race, creed, or color you were. Nor did anyone care about your economic background in which you grew up. We were in it together pulling 8 to 12 hour rotating shifts with little sleep. We would yell at each other, pull pranks on each other but we were united in protecting our country. Today the mainstream media and left polititions are trying to divide us. I refuse to participate in their stupidity. United we stand. Go Navy!!! Go USA!!!

Watch MeTV all the time and you are so right. TELEVISION raised me in the 50s/60s caused parents divorced, both worked. Mrs. Cleaver, Donna Stone, Ozzie and Harriet raised me and did a decent job at that. Kids raised on television today have no one decent to look up to. Thanks John. Oh, can I say, "Let's go Brandon?" Adam 12 was the best police recruit show. I grew up in a neighbourhood where we were mixed...good kids ,good families-John the 70s were a different age.God bless .
Thank you for this. I grew up in this 1960s and the what goes on now did not go on then. In the 1970s we had just about eliminated the use of offensive terms toward everybody, but supposedly the most liberal TV show on the air derailed all of that. And I mean All in the Family. I know people revere Norman Lear, but the offensive remarks made by Archie Bunker were supposed to be so funny that people started repeating them. And once again people got used to using that language. I place the blame squarely at his door. One of my black friends even told me that "Now we know how white people talk about us behind our backs". I have no respect for Norman Lear, as you can clearly see.

As far as MeTv I watch it all the time. I grew up watching those old shows. I have to agree with you. Thank you for bringing this up! I watch a lot of MeTV (mostly because I miss the 20th century! At this point I wish it was 19anything! Lol) I’ve started noticing the same thing with many of the old shows. I never remembered them being racist or exclusionary but if there ever was an episode that showed something undeniably blatant they would use it to show how hurtful it could be to the person and why it was wrong. Especially by the time the 80s came along! Even with all the gluttony of the 1980s it felt like almost every TV show had some sort of moral lesson in the end.
That's the same year my dad taught me how to tear down a television tuner.. get the q tip and alcohol.. clean the contacts and put it back together - really don't need that skill much these days.
That was a good era for TV.. just before Woodstock until just before disco.

Me TV is great! I grew up in the 80's and watched all the classics. Me TV and Decades are great channels to revisit those great shows. The best part is all you need is a good old fashioned antenna to get those channels.

We are less involved in anything racist than anywhere in the world. In 2007 I'd say nobody ever mentioned it. I don't care if you were in nowhere Alabama or Kansas.
