    Well said John. I have no experience with movie or TV sets. I was, however, a police officer for 26 years. I am about as pro-gun as anyone can be, but with that said, I can see no reason why live ammo should ever be allowed on a set for any reason. There is just too much risk of mistakes being made.

    • @harrymills2770
      @harrymills2770 2 года назад +3

      Treats the symptom. You can't control the universe of bullets. You CAN check what's in the gun in your hand. That goes for the person handing the actor the gun and the actor who's using the gun as a prop. Even firing blanks, there's no call to aim at the lady next to the camera.
      That being said, I imagine hiring an ex-cop such as yourself, to check all the ammo he sees and getting rid of anything live, would've saved a life on THAT poorly-run set. In the end, I think it's going to be some kind of negligent homicide, with penalties for how they hired WHOM they hired. They went as cheap as they possibly could, and got a firearms manager (or whatever they call 'em) who was willing to do the whole job by herself, when it was a job for a team that the skinflint movie makers weren't willing or able to budget for. They went on the cheap and things turned to shit.
      Or at least that's what I heard when researching the story when it first came out. I'm not sure, but I think Baldwin's one of the producers and the mistakes made may lie at his doorstep, for being too cheap to follow professional standards and protocols, which is what I think Schneider is saying. There've been thousands of gun fights filmed in Hollywood. People dying of gunshot wounds is extremely rare. You've got to majorly f*** up for this to happen, and the producers of the movie cut a lot of corners.

      @@harrymills2770 When the original armored left he was replaced by a 24 year old woman who was quoted as saying that the scariest thing she ever did was load blanks into a gun. @@harrymills2770 "Treats the symptom." Oversimplification. It adds another level of safety to what NEEDS to be a safe action.
      "You can't control the universe of bullets." Hyperbolic. Even though it is true that you can't control the "universe" of bullets you have FUILL CONTROL over a movie set.
      "You CAN check what's in the gun in your hand." Which everyone who handled that gun, including alec, should have done. ANYONE who handled that gun prior to this mistake could have broken the accident chain simply by being responsible.
      "Even firing blanks, there's no call to aim at the lady next to the camera." This isn't giving credit to blanks for how nasty they can be. Even if that had been blanks instead of live rounds at that range that would have done some significant damage.
      "In the end, I think it's going to be some kind of negligent homicide, with penalties for how they hired WHOM they hired." Agreed on the charge and if they bring it back to the hiring procedure this leads right back to alec. He was one of the head honchos on the set.
      "They went as cheap as they possibly could, and got a firearms manager (or whatever they call 'em) who was willing to do the whole job by herself, when it was a job for a team that the skinflint movie makers weren't willing or able to budget for." Which doesn't relieve that woman of responsibility in this case. If it was too much to handle and she stated so and nothing changed YOU QUIT. If you stick around for the pay check or the chance to build a name in the community you ACCEPT the outcome. It was her choice to stay. That isn't to say it absolves alec either. They can both go down for this needless loss of life.

      No live ammo or 100 boxes of live ammo nearby, it is irrelevant. Of course, there is no place for live ammo on a filmset, but still, it is irrelevant. Simple fact is that the gun was not cleared when it changed hands and that is unforgivable. If the gun changes hands back and forth 100 times, it needs to be cleared 100 times, it is the first lesson when introduced to firearms and drilled so much that it should become an automatic response.

  • @sylviaking8866

    From what I can see Baldwin totally ignored safety protocols. He then hired an inexperienced young girl to be in charge of the weapons. She herself stated she did not feel qualified to do it. And yes Baldwin did pull the trigger. The gun did not go off by itself. I think there's something fundamentally off with Baldwin's mentality for him to even have considered pulling the trigger while the gun was pointing at people.

    • @brucemoose9587
      @brucemoose9587 2 года назад +2

      totally agree,,,, but Baldwin is not "mental" cuz he pointed a gun at someone and pulled the trigger,,, he was aiming at the CAMERA, where a person (Choreographer and Vice-Dir were)
      he is "mental" to say he did not pull the trigger, when, in fact, he surely did,,, and he aimed it at the camera, but also at a person besides the cam, in close proximity
      BALDWIN should be CHARGED criminally,,, for hiring an inexperienced armorer/gun controller, for not checking the weapon that was given to him, before he was about to use it, and for surely looking down the barrel of this COLT gun, while cocking/pulling the trigger, and not seeing that there was some bullets or blanks loaded in the chamber; and esp for saying he doesn't know how real ammo got onto the set,, when clearly some staff were shooting off that gun and some others with REAL BULLETS prior to this so-called accident

I have read a book years ago about all the crazy things that have happened on movie sets that killed people or seriously injured them that were never brought up to the media or sort of swept under the rug, until the Big accident that killed Vic Morrow and those two kids. someone screwed up or(Maybe and maybe i'm out in left field) someone wanted someone to die and thought they could sneak it in; although from what i'm heard about the nice lady I can't imagine that being the case)

    Keep harping John, you are the voice of reason and knowledge. Please answer this, what I don't understand about this "accident". From the aerial photo of the outdoor set, that church building where I understand (maybe I'm, wrong?) the shooting took place is teeny tiny. I've only seen TV and movie sets on TV and in the movies - but they always show different cameras shooting at different angles on dollies, a row of lights up by the ceiling, more lights on poles. a sound gizmo above the set, the director's chair, etc., etc. Please tell me how they could have gotten ALL that equipment inside that tiny church!! It defies possibility. Don't forget the rows of pews taking up most of the interior, so only the alter area and entrance could be used to set up the cameras, etc..
    NOW... Here comes the blatant lie that reveals the cover-up, and the intent to commit murder.... According to news reports, the assistant director shouted "Cold Gun!" before Baldwin picked it up and fired the fatal shot. if logic prevails and they were NOT actually filming inside that tiny church -- he would have NO REASON to shout out "Cold Gun!", because they weren't actually filming. So if it was the assistant director himself who admitted calling it out - that proves he is a liar as he would've known they were only sitting in the church talking or taking a break- not shooting a scene in it.
    I saw the Baldwin statement he was giving outside his house. He looked very disheveled and distraught. I predict that by next week he will have signed himself into an exclusive Beverly Hills Private Psych Hospital;/Rest Facility. His publicist will issue a statement saying he is near a breakdown and can not be interviewed "at this time" by detectives. The young girl who was in charge of the prop guns and received NO TRAINING will be blamed for carelessness.

      @@luminatrixfanfiction That is one of the problems. We don't need better protocols, we don't need more rules. The protocols that already exist were not followed, making more can not fix it when they are not followed. So I respectfully disagree with you. Yes, it was tragic and we never want it to happen again. What some "law makers" do every time there is a tragic event is say we need more laws so this can never happen again and all it ends up doing is hurting lawful people, it makes it harder to do something, or costs more to do something for those who are trying to do what they should. Then the same type of thing happens again and they say we need more laws and more restrictions. It needs to stop, what should be done is look at what laws already apply. I am pretty sure it is already illegal to kill someone so passing more laws to say it is unlawful to kill someone doesn't help. Watch John's video on the gun protocols if those protocols where followed then it would be impossible for the mistake to have been made. This wasn't some far out situation that flawed protocols allowed to happen, it was carelessness. They need to be held accountable for not following the rules not making more rules.

    • @luminatrixfanfiction

      @@beetle442002 I'm not talking about removing guns or restrictions or more rules. By protocols, I mean that Rust production didn't even have any protocols. Did you know there were 3 prior misfires involving accidents in days leading up to the tragedy?
      I'm not against guns, I just think that everyone should follow the number 1 rule: The gun is loaded until it's not.

    • @beetle442002
      @beetle442002 2 года назад +2

      @@luminatrixfanfiction I think I see what your saying and I agree. It's not just guns It's everything. There was a car crash and went flying out, so now we have to seat belts in all cars. There was another car crash and people weren't wearing a seat belt, so now we have a law on that. Then air bags, now cars have to be designed with crush zones, and anti lock breaks, and all these required safety systems. And stricter and stricter speed limits. And more and more laws on drinking and alcohol and smoking. I am not saying they are all bad things. But at what point is the line for what the "government" or who ever is allowed to tell others what they can and cannot do? Traffic cameras, public security cameras, tracking phones, compiling profiles from social media, data from credit card companies, now they want direct reporting from your bank on transactions. Almost every time something happens it is said "this is horrible how can we make sure this never happens again what more can we do?" Rarely do you ever hear they broke the law, people were pushed too far, they were ignored, they are at fault because they were careless. I would bet that there is no individual in the whole country that could name all the laws and policies that apply to them even while they are standing in their own home. There are too many laws and written in language that normal people don't understand and I am sure many laws that overlap and many laws that are "on the books" that aren't enforced anymore. Wouldn't it be better to simplify the laws we have so that everyone can understand them and know what they are rather than adding more useless laws? People have been allowed to claim "it wasn't my fault" far too much when it really was their fault, they just didn't mean for it to happen. People should not be controlled by the government, they need to be taught to respect each other and be responsible. Laws only suppress the law abiding citizens it does not stop people who brake the laws.

    Don’t stop harping. You are absolutely correct to do it to keep attention on the responsibility of those involved and justice be done. We live in a day when no one is at fault. I love what you’re doing because it is important. God bless you.👍😊

    Once an error gets into a system that is designed to have multiple checks and the parties down the line make the assumption that those before have verified the situation, things get sloppy and errors become evident as in this case. You know what happens when you make assumptions...

    I keep hearing about the protocol, but I've hardly heard anything about the implementation. In a different video of yours I asked the question is this an industry standard that every person who touches a weapon checks it and declares it to be cold or hot? Or is it selective and depends on the set? If it is the latter, then this case should be used as the precedent for making it not only a protocol but a requirement on every set with jail time being the punishment for not following it whether somebody dies or not. If it is the former, then every person who touched that gun and declared it to be cold when it wasn't should be facing jail time.

    I stand with you John! Dont let it fade from the publics eye. My sister was murdered by her husband Dr Tod Lawhon Christmas Eve 2020. I am fighting to keep the victims face out there! He hasn't spent 1 day in jail bc he's friends with EVERYONE PROMINENT. I pray for her loved ones and that there's Justice for her and some form of peace for her family. Keep doing what you're doing.

    John is a gun owner and a seasoned professional entertainer who has been on many sets. As Baldwin even stated, these things just don't happen. I understand John's frustration. 🤔👍

    John...you're just like SO many other American citizens/patriots. We're FED UP with ALL the injustice that is so abundant these days. Enough is enough. It's PAST time for action to be taken to right the wrongs. Anything worth fighting for is never easy. Do what's right and you'll never go wrong! 👍

    I like harps and you are right. I saw another interview with the dad who lost his daughter on the Midnight Rider set. ( Georgia, Greg Allman story, scrapped) it’s called justice for Sarah ( think that’s the name) and have made it a mission to new safety standards.
    Agree, someone should be held libel. To the degree, I cannot say.

    I agree with you John !! I trust you and your opinion on this issue !!! Knowing if you belong to certain societies you can get away with all kinds of crimes !! At least on earth, but they will never get away with it in the end!! Judgement will come and they will have to confess it one day in eternity !! Harp on it all you want !!! I will listen !!!
