  • Emily Bear captivated the world with her piano talent at just six years old. Now, at 23, she’s already a Grammy and Emmy-winning composer, producer, arranger, pianist, and singer-songwriter. Recently, she became the youngest person to score a feature film and is currently working on Moana 2.
In 2022, Emily won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album for The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical, which she co-wrote with Abigail Barlow live on social media. The album soared to #1 on the U.S. iTunes pop charts within 1.5 hours of its release and reached the top 5 albums worldwide. This year, she toured as the pianist for Beyoncé's Renaissance tour.
    Today, Emily shares:
The surprising moment her talent was discovered-and why she shies away from the “child prodigy” label.
Leaving home at 16 to chase her dreams in LA: the challenges, the courage, and the adventure.
How a life-changing meeting led to Quincy Jones becoming her mentor.
The journey to becoming Beyoncé’s pianist on the Renaissance Tour-and the one terrifying moment she’ll never forget.
An unexpected lesson from Beyoncé that reshaped her approach to music and performance.
The story behind The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical, and why winning a Grammy was the last thing she expected.
The struggle to be taken seriously as a young musician-and why that respect mattered to her.
Why she aims to move people to tears with her music.
Creating her own path when gigs weren’t coming-and her advice for others who want to do the same.
Breaking barriers as a woman composer-and why she proudly performs with colorful nail polish and heels!

Emily is so humble! She has talent to spare, and can't wait until a movie comes out with her writing and playing the piano!

So glad she is scoring Moana 2. Emily is so talented and her music is so moving. She has an even more exciting and amazing career ahead of her. Thank you for the in-depth interview!

We have a rare event here where the interviewer is seriously prepared and creates a real rapport with her subject, letting us see Emily more clearly than before. I have followed a handful of performers closely for many years, including Emily, and can report that this almost never happens. The people who pay Danielle Robay need to give her a raise. We are treated to smart research and smart questions. Danielle shined a light on Emily brighter than anyone ever has.

I think every one who sits in the chair across from me deserves to be seen and I try my very best to make sure I can shine a light on their greatness. THANK YOU for this Bruce. Hope you have a wonderful week!x

So incredible to hear her talk about her composing work and breaking the mold. Watching Karina Canellakis conduct Janacek while very pregnant forever altered my brain chemistry.

Thank you, one way, or antother, she is going to make it (even bigger) ! And Emily if you read this, I have this tip. I listened to the intro of Dog Gone and it is beatuifull, but you used 8 great themes in 1:41 and therefore I can't remember it. Use a bit more Hanz Zimmer ;)

I've been an Emily fan for years.... She's awesome...
(and she really doesn't need to use expletives when she speaks. She far too intelligent for that...)

It seems she's "going with the flow" when it comes to conversational speech.

The use of expletives doesn't diminish someone's intelligence in my opinion. Considering what she has done before the age of 30, she can say fuck all she wants and I will still find her brilliant and inspiring.💫
