- Today, we put the Lake Country UDOS 5 in 1 polisher through the Apex Detail Review Process! The UDOS 51E, by LC Power Tools, a subsidiary of Lake Country Manufacturing, is a buffer unlike you've ever seen before. The unique, patented design of the UDOS 51E allows this versatile tool to operate as both a dual action/random orbital as well as a direct-drive rotary. Not only that, the UDOS 51E has the first-ever User Defined Orbital Stroke. What does that mean? Simply put, by pulling up on the locking collar near the head of the tool, you're able to change the stroke from 8 mm, 12 mm, 15, and 21 mm as well as a direct-drive rotary/circular action. The UDOS 51E is actually 5 tools in 1!
Lake Country UDOS 51E Polisher.....www.mckees37.c...
Specs:
110 volts
1200 watt 10 amp motor
Variable speed trigger with lock
Includes 5 inch hook and loop backing plate
LC Power Tools has spent the last several years designing the UDOS 51E to ensure it meets Lake Country's stringent quality standards. The UDOS 51E is an extremely smooth, balanced tool that reduces fatigue during extended polishing sessions thanks to its ergonomic design.
Use the UDOS 51E as a sander with the 8 mm stroke; a polisher with the 12, 15, and 21 mm strokes, and as a tool of serious correcting ability with the direct-drive rotary action. Regardless of the task, from removing sanding marks to polishing to a high gloss, the UDOS 51E is equipped for the job.

Great video and great tool. Only 1 drawback is that if you have a problem you have lost all tools. So I might get it even though I have all the other tools, but use it only if I am mobile detailing. Thank again Master Brian
Boy! That's a beautiful machine! Really the only polisher you'll ever need. Unfortunately, I could probably only afford the shipping on it. 😆 But I can dream, can't I? 😆 Thanks Brian!
Yes Sir! Glad You got to do this! cant wait for You to take it apart and see what makes it tics! $100 /lbs loll! surprised its only 1 yr waranty.. i wont go rushing to the store for that one just yet~~!! Thanks! ;-)
Thank you Mr. Brian, seems it hit's all the marks. So not just a jack of all and master of none.
Mr. Brian, I forgot to add in my comments I contacted Lake Country about 3 weeks ago. Asked if it would work with their HDO and the SDO lines of pads along with Euro fiber 50/50 and finishers. I was told they wouldn't do quite do as well as the UDOS Special designed one. By approximately 15 - 20%. I think you Blew that theory out of the air. Just pushing product? Thanks for sharing all you do!
Been waiting for this one brian!!! Thank you!!
Likewise!
Nice machine and excellent of you to show this ✊
Interesting and versatile tool. Nice review. Thanks Brian!
Great polisher I would rather take the 700 and buy multiple tools in case that one fails you have multiple tools
A Maxshine M15 Pro II and Griot's Garage G8 covers the needs for me. I might get that SPTA Micro polisher to round it out.
@@Twiztid_Metal I just have the G8 and my thinking on my next step(s) was to do exactly this set up, M15 and the SPTA micro. I'm just a driveway hack but think I could get more for my efforts with this set up...
@@danmulvaney4580 you'll definitely speed up your process significantly with a 15mm DA and 5in backing plate. Get some Buff & Shine or Lake Country HDO pads too, you'll be set for awhile.
@@Twiztid_Metal I am using Hex Logic pads and the Uro Fiber in both 5" and 6". Basically use 5" on the wife and daughters sedans, and 6' for my 4Runner. I bought the Hex logic when I first started getting serious detaling our vehicles but am due for some new pads. Will definitely look into the LC pads... I initially was watching videos and learning from Chemical Guys, but have learned so much more from Brian, Pan, Ammo, and all the other youtube detailing guys. What a great service they provide. Brian at Apex is THE MAN when it comes to providing great content. Amazing how polished he has become over the years in front of the camera...
I was wondering if the LC stalled on any of the settings for dual action? Didn't appear that it did. Washer modification needed?
I saw this at MTE Orlando like 2 years ago when it was still being developed. Loved the idea. $700 but it replaces about $1000 in equipment. My concern is the durability and abuse it can take before it craps out
That's my concern too. Having 5 separate machines can possibly mean 5 times the longevity. Also if one machine breaks one of the other 4 machines can substitute. The convenience is of course the main selling point of the 5in1 though.
Thank you!!! Looked a bit wobbly at times. 🤷🏻♂️
The review I’ve been waiting for thanks.
True it is a great tool for a detailer. As for the enthusiasts too steep for me. However I agree with you guaranteed or warranty should be extended at least for 3 to 5 years. It would be more desirable to purchase the unit. 😬
Definitely an interesting concept!
great for the mobile detailer. Excellent video Brian!!
Was waiting for this , thanks Brian.
Thanks Brian, been anxious to see you get some time with this polisher. Can't wait for the part 2 teardown! How stall prone is it in DA modes at both low and high speeds?
👍👌✌
The same as most polishers. no more no less.
@@apexdetail85 Did you find the speed not enough? Top OPM on this is 2400
Thanks for the video and demo! I enjoy using Lake Country pads but I've never been a big fan of "all in one" type items no matter what it is.
It's like saying I'm a jack of all trades but a master of none. Not to mention, if this machine goes down you're relying on old fashioned elbow grease to finish the job. Finally, a one year warranty is lame. Most machines are just getting broke in at that point and everyone knows they always break 3 days after the warranty runs out :)
Great Video Brian, I got to try a prototype at MTE earlier this year and was impressed by it.
Another top notch review!
Now pull it apart ;) muhahhaah
Thanks 🙏
Thanks Brian something to think about.
Very nice looking.
Oh man I was just looking into one of these
Your channel rocks B! Great video!
Hey Brian, the Maxshine M8 and Griots G9 are 8mm throw polishers, you mentioned they are 12mm.
Too much pad stalling for me, the only setting work fine on that video is the 21mm
How sensitive is it to pressure and tilt?
It's not stalling it's just how the frames are in the video.
I agree. I watched this video 3 times and noticed that on p1 was stalling out like crazy. P2 not as much and P3 have little to no stalling.
If it's for you cool but just my opinion
Thanks Brian for that review, I was waiting for that. Here in Canada it’s more than 850$...it’s a lot of money for a beginner like me but I understand it make 5 machines in 1. I think it’s really good for a mobile detailer but like some other says in comment, in the shop (or even on the road) if it fail, you’re in sh.. trouble. So I think I will be just fine with my rotary and my new 9mm DA polisher that is coming next week.
Nice! Thanks!
Interesting tool, I'm curious to see the tear down of it. I agree on a tool like this a one year warranty is terrible, the big reason, if that selector mechanism fails you are out 5 tools, and possibly waiting weeks for repair which after one year you are paying for, plus shipping both ways, if it's your livelihood you'll more than likely be purchasing replacement tools so you can keep working. Maybe it's better to spend a little more and buy each tool separately.
If it had a 3-5 year warranty I would buy it immediately. Was pretty excited about it. But a 1 year warranty ain't gunna cut it.
😂👌
Have you reviewed or used the Makita PO6000C? Its dual function/switchable, I think you'd like it. Normally I'm against 'multi tool' type implements because it creates more room for failure but Makita has a simple knob switch that seems robust and has very simple mechanism.
I have to say I've been very impressed about the polisher! But it's a little to pricey? But to buy all of the other separate products can be over the price? I agree with you Brian! About the 1 year warranty? Thanks for giving us the close up opportunity and your great advice and knowledge!
great video and product review good friend. way to pricy 4 me.im sure it's lighter than drill master rotary polisher. thanks again buddy. 🍻🍻🍻🍻
Love this tool but 700 bucks i don't think ill get one of these anytime soon.
I'll wait for the break down of the machine. There maybe be a reason for such a short warranty. Or at least wait for some other manufacturer to offer simular product and create some competition and bring down the cost.
Always wait for the second generation LOL deafly gonna be waiting for the udos 2.0
$700 is going to be a bit much for most detailers...but for experienced guys who have been at it for years, this would be golden.
Hi Brian....I've been looking for the video where you showed how to make your own windshield wiper wash fluid (you also spoke of tablets as well). I can't find it...could you go over your recipe again?
Great video Brian! I was wondering how is the power delivery on this thing. I noticed the OPM is very low with a max of 2400OPM/RPM
Give me some feedback because I'm about to buy it, do you like it 2 years later or is it gimmicky? I want to buy it as my ultimate tool but I'm not gonna use it 40 hours a week like you guys
Another..... awesome video! I’m going to pass for the moment. I have 6 polishers and they all still work. Maybe after a couple croak 🐸 I’ll look at it again. Pretty cool engineering tho.
1st from Puerto Rico 👍🇵🇷

Hello. :)
brian good show the specs great from mexico
I read that if you buy a product with an AMEX card they will double up on the warranty. Just a thought.
Interesting concept! But it looks bulky and heavy, I also seem to notice that it has a wobble when polishing? It doesn't seem like it gives a smooth polish.. but maybe I'm seeing it wrong of course
But it could be an option if you want a 5 in 1. But what if you wanna use 3 to 1 inch pads ;) hmm so you need another tool besides this one for the smaller pads, I can recommend the FLEX PXE 80 :D, it's awesome.
Appreciate you demonstrating this piece of equipment Brian, great video!
A little wobble here and there...but quite smooth otherwise.
Brian, a terrific review as always. I'm still looking for the polisher with the least amount of vibrations. I was getting close to buying the Rules until seeing your show tonight. Brian is this the one I'm looking for? It sure looks like it is. Please let me know. Thank you so much.
Flex Polishers are very smooth...as well as Rupes and this. Find the best buy.
would you still find yourself reaching for a smaller tool to polish the underside of moldings, do you think? Or some other situation where all 7 lbs of the polisher would be working against you?
Other than the price issue, for that money a tool like that better be cordless. The more "features" something has, like a car, the more prone to failure it will be. And like others have said, it might be 5 in 1, so when this fails you are out of everything instead of just 1 bad and 4 good tools.
The versatility is pretty cool...and comparing its price to the price of the 5 machines it replaces makes it reasonable....BUT it's still $700 and only a 1 year warranty??.…compare that to going all griots with a lifetime warranty and it quickly becomes less of a bargain....
Hey Brian the udos seems to shake a lot, is a rupes lhr15 or a flex more comfortable to work with less vibration or is the udos around the same kind of rate of vibration?
Thanks
Great tool with an unfriendly price.
Super unfriendly lmaoo
Great review Brian. Thorough as always. Have you tried or reviewed any cordless dual action machines ?
I highly recommend the dewalt cordless DA, been using it for last 3 months without any problems. Plenty of power great battery life. I'm able to do a 1 step correction with 1 and a half 6 amp batteries.
Eloi Batista yes. I have been looking at them. 3 year warranty too. I know that will please Brian. I’d love his opinion because I trust his judgment. Are you a pro or hobbyists buddy?
@@alankelly1542 more hobby these days, i used to detail for dealerships, but went down a different career path. Now I just do it on the side for family and friends and some referrals, so on average one car a month.
Not yet....on the way
I can't wait until you get few corrections under your belt with this machine and report back
Hi, I remember that you upload a video about a polish or compound product from Extreme solutions, that doesn’t shave the clear coat very much , I think it was a 2 in one polish and sealent, with not so powerful bite on clearcoat but strong enough to remove scratches can you put a link here , can’t find the video you have hundreds
Search for the video! Use the search bar!! I do that all day lol
Hank's Detailing i did no luck forget the name of the product
pedro Gonzalez I found the playlist. ruclips.net/p/PLaKlp9sktcgFDkcf5-0i0LjnTXyZajGxl
Was it the FPS of the video or was there little to no backing plate rotation? (rotation, not oscillation)
I noticed that too. Other reviews of the machine said it really needs to be maxed out for optimal rotation on DA settings. It looked like our boy Brian had it on speed setting 4? 🤷♂️
@@Ike-yq3gf Stalling highly likely if that's the case. Could be a difficult machine to use on panels with any concave.
GlumdogTrillionaire I noticed that too. I saw little to no rotation on some of the polishing settings
I have this machine and I notice pad stall is very evident especially in the lower throw settings. I still grab my Rupes 21mm over this polisher.
@@adamkwasnaza Interesting. Any other feedback you'd be happy to share? Also, why did you decide to buy it, just to be first in?
Great video thank you. What do you think the lifespan is on this. Seems like they added more parts to break for $700?
To put it this way...I never buy the first model of anything.🙂
Okay I always say the same thing also.lol
Great video but I didn't hear you say that this polisher out performs all others. with a price tag that steep it would have to really have too for me to add it to my arsenal. The problem I see is, if you just have this tool and it fails your out of business. If you spend the extra $186 dollars to buy the 5 tools you mentioned and one goes down you can still finish the job.
Performs the same as other polishers.
Love the concept and I have to give credit to lake country for being the first to bring one to market. However I’m sure that the big polisher brands like flex n rup will be quick to add their concepts of a machine with multiple selections in the near future if this is the way the industry is headed. I’ve just never been one to except first generation items. I’m sure in time this type of machine will be the way to go. Can’t thank you enough Brian for showing us the latest in technology within our industry!
Better have a lifetime warranty 😂 keep it
Where is it manufactured?
Wisconsin
@@patricktuggles4815 Thank you, not imported from China via Wisconsin?
@@usi9fl nope they manufacturer it at their warehouse in Wisconsin
Do I see a Powr-flite vacuum?
I’ll be waiting for the UDOS 2.0... never buy first gen products in my opinion
It sounds pretty quiet on head phones. Does this run pretty quiet?
Also what's the spin down speed? Looks like it has an electric brake for the pad.
Quiet and smooth. I will dig into the internals when we tear it down.
Forced rotation I assume with it having a rotary setting?
No
@@thecarproconnoisseur5412 so this is free spinning?? That's very disappointing.
@@94muddertrucker why would u want gear driven? They don’t finish down like free spinning, and I’ve never seen one that has more than a 6mm throw...I own one... I never use it...
The frame rate makes it look like the pads barely spinning. Too bad I bought 4 polishes before I know about this unit. Maybe on the 2nd version or maybe rupes version which they are working on which also may be battery and corded like the ibrid nano.
So the rotary doesn’t leave holograms or is that due to the pad? Then polishing takes it out if there is holograms?
Some harsh wool pads will leave holograms...polish out with finish pad and polish.
Apex Detail thanks you
Is the vibration greatly reduced bs other polishers? Or is it more or less the same?
A little less obvious ...I believe its heft absorbs most of the vibration.
as brian was saying use this one tool to replace all others the only bad thing about that is this machine stops working then have nothing if you have a few and one stops working then you have a backup ....not impressed spending all that money for a one year warranty
regarding stalling how is the performance on curves from the 3 da settings?
No better or worse than other polishers available.
Thanks for the great video, as always!! I was wondering, the motor is also brushed or brushless? Thanks.
I will find out when we tear it down.
@@apexdetail85 thank you!!!
It as 4 throws including an 8 mm
It’s a sanding function...it doesn’t rotate like a normal polisher
14:52 Though you had some sort of R2D2 in the stable.
😂👍
Only 700 bucks, I'll have 6 please
Hmmm is this an answer to a question nobody asked...
Someday🤤 lol

$700? You shitting me
it's almost kafkaesque to read the comments or the emperor's New Clothes! Are you all bribed by lake country, the machine is completely useless as a da polisher.Must be the worst machine I've seen, it should have been stopped at the drawing board
Great Vid as always
