Hi Everyone and Welcome to Promethean Sewing Machines, where I am unashamedly rebelliously creative when it comes to taking old forgotten sewing machines and bringing them back to life in a beautiful way.
Meet my new project:
Should I have broken this down into a few different videos. Maybe, probably, but I didn't. I ran out of editing juice and it is what it is. So grab a drink and a snack, pause it when you need to, and come along with me on this journey.
Thanks!
Marie

Great find & amazing transformation... She really did clean up well! Thanks for sharing... Great job!
I’m so glad toy were able to keep the original decals on this one.
This is fascinating! ❤
Nice looking machine
Beautiful
No, I really can't imagine myself doing this work in a factory for hours everyday!
SWEET!!!!!!!! I love love love that decal set
I know right!
I've been watching this in snippets during the day. It's been a fun way of spacing out chores; I finish cleaning or mending something then a break with a cuppa to watch your fiddly struggles and successes. Well done to us both. I even finally replaced the washers in leaky shower and sinks, only been 5 months😅. I'm also ignoring 4 Singers that need heavy TLC, thanks for your videos, I learn a lot and gain motivation. Lastly, if I was a drinking woman I'd play the shots game everytime the cock crows (imagine the hangover!!), instead I occasionally crow back, which made my other half jump today, so double thanks, got to keep em guessing and on their toes 😂
That's so funny! You know, I don't even hear the chickens anymore, they are just such a constant sound around here. But a drinking game would be funny.
What a beautiful restoration job you've done. The way you explained everything as you went along was great. It really does make you realise just how clever and inventive the generation that built these machines and other industrial marvels were we think we're so much more smarter these days but we had their ingenuity as a foundation they had nothing but grit and determination. We owe the industrial inventors much more credit than they are given. Thank you for all your hard work keeping these machines from obsolescence. X
They are really amazing machines. I am fascinated at how they were able to make something so complicated, also so beautiful, and so strong. All the superlatives for old machines :)
@@prometheansewingmachines I've loved the old singers since I used one in sewing class in the late 60s early 70s.
This old film might be of interest to you it shows you the birth of the singer machines from RUclips. I've watched it a few times.

In these parts the world for those decal sets are rather rare, and with the decals in such good condition as that? Unheard of... So lovely to see and hear her sewing so well again too! (It may even be the first time she's sewn this well.) Good rescue, Marie - it was indeed an epic, but worth every minute of watching. I could feel your frustration with that bobbin winder, I always get a sore thumb from that little spring - it's stronger than a team of elephants! :-)
Hi Megan! Thank you. She is beautiful. I was so shocked when I found her. She's one of those machines that even though she is up for sale, if she doesn't it wouldn't break my heart.
I have been looking for a beautiful old machine with original decals. I had no idea you had another channel. I was watching your video discussing viewer comments. I watch the whole video, but I think I need this machine in my life.
She's for sale 😁😁
I love your work. I have an 1893 "dogrose" improved family that I would love to use. How do I protect the decoration from further ware and tear?
❤
I think you're doing just fine.I think the bearing seized up on the motor i'm not sure but that's what it sounds libecause the back of the cap doesn't wanna go any further
Great video Marie. Can you please tell me what the solution is in the ultrasonic cleaner? You said something called purple. Thanks so much. She is beautiful. I have not used GOJO yet on a machine. Maybe one day I will need to. Thanks.
Hi Terie! this is a link:
amzn.to/3y70PB4
It's called purple power and you can usually get it in auto parts places. I go about half and half with water.
@@prometheansewingmachines Hi Marie. Thanks so much. Will be trying it out. Have a great weekend. Stay safe.
😂😊😊😊😊❤
What would be the issue with using Gojo? Why would others object?
People are funny. There are those who have a preferred method, be it sewing machine oil, or alcohol, or water, or q-tips only, or microfiber only, etc etc and anything outside of that they see as a travesty. To me, find what works for you and go for it, whatever it may be.
