Hi Everyone and Welcome to Promethean Sewing Machines, where I am unashamedly rebelliously creative when it comes to taking old forgotten sewing machines and bringing them back to life in a beautiful way.
    Meet my new project:
This is a family machine, belonging to a great grandmother of my client. She is in need of a makeover so of course the first step is to take her apart as far as I need, to be able to clean her and paint. I hope you like it!

Thank you for doing this type of video. The take apart, clean up, put together process is so informative. Watching you gave me the courage to tackle, tear down, and restore a couple of my very vintage Singers. I've actually passed on buying other brands because I knew nothing about them, even when they had potential to be beautiful and productive. Thanks !

You just take on the beasts!!! I have never worked on a DAVIS. Maybe some day. Thanks for showing this. And I have been defeated by some very non- compliant screws. You work around it when you can. Thanks so much for sharing. Have a good one.

Marie, the plate screw is not missing. There is a screw that goes there for the attachments. I didn’t send it because the end is shaped like a butterfly and I didn’t want it to get broken off.

Another great project! What's the back story... How did you acquire this machine? What's the story of this brand... Haven't ever heard of them before? I assume it's a treadle machine? Just curious.
Always enjoy your remakes...can't wait to see what creative way you bring it to life.

I think I mentioned it in the painting video that I posted after this one, sorry. The machine is my customer"s great grandmother's named Celia after her. Davis had different models, not very common but they are out there. :)
