  • To me it sounds as though the algorithms are the same in each (except shimmer), but the additional parameters on the DD-200 do take it a lot further. At 1:08 I dial up the additional parameters on the DD-200 to illustrate this.
Yellow LED on the A/B switcher means ME-90 is engaged, red LED for the DD-200.
Guitar was running through an Engl tube preamp 530 for both the clean and distorted sections, and both pedals recorded in stereo.
    0:00 bypass transparency test
    0:19 standard digital delay (dirty)
    0:52 standard digital delay (clean)
    1:32 analog mode
    2:37 reverse mode
    3:31 tera echo
    4:45 tera echo oscillation comparison
    5:28 shimmer mode

why we can't get ping pong style delays on those units? I mean...if it's stereo out I assume we could pan delays. I'm under the impression that we can hear it happening only on the tera echo mode.

My best guess is it's purposeful product-feature segregation i.e only the most expensive Boss products get proper stereo capabilities (even though the lowly DD-7 had switchable output modes and full ping pong delays... As does my GX-700 from 1996...) Perhaps it keeps the production cost down having one less D>A converter on the output 🤷

It makes sense. But it sounds dumb to me in the actual market Boss don't actually think about these details@@PedalScience

I think the boss uses the same technology in all his devices like ME-90, GX-100, GT-1, GT-1000, Katana etc. Before that it was COSM. . they also had the same everywhere. . . Roland Cube combos, ME-80 etc . . .

The katana doesn't use any AIRD technology. It uses some COSM though.

Doesn't sound bad but yeah in a side by side I'm honestly surprised at how noticeable it is

Does it have a ping Pong delay or paning option
