My local one closed under a year after opening. It used to be a Ruby Tuesday. My parents never really liked Denny’s because they thought of it as gross, since it was open 24 hours.
What a waste! Not even a year old and it closed. I'll say that I've been to a Denny's outside of Cleveland, OH years ago after a concert that wasn't the best. It was kind of dirty and the service was not very good. I guess it just depends on location and people working. One I go to near me in Pittsburgh's North Hills is very nice. I go there once in a while. Never a bad experience.
WallieB26 It may have something to do with it being kinda out of the way from the main business district. The road to get to it leads to Walmart, but the actual plaza it’s in only has a bank. Restaurants tend to struggle in that area due to high rent also.
There is a former circuit city that is now an electronics express in Spring Hill TN. Everything from the circuit city is still in there, so you might want to check it out
Dennys in Weatherford was NEVER very good. I'm from here.. Occasionally you'd get employees who cared about their job. But in reality you can't really blame the employees who didn't. They got paid less than $7 hourly (at best) to deal with picky, neurotic people determined to make the waiters life worse. I saw it multiple times. My husband & I were in our early-mid 20's back when this place was open. (Its been a LONG time).. I always felt sorry for the employees & tipped them well. But the place never caught on. Plus it's honestly in a shit location. Nobody FROM HERE wants to deal with the traffic around Walmart & I-20. It's horrific.
Late nights & booze. Other than whataburger it's the only place open 24hrs. They don't generally call the police on the drunks. Last time I went there, there was a man laid face down directly outside the front doors. I called an ambulance just to check on him bc he didn't move when I poked him. The cops took half an hr to get there. It's a common occurrence.
At least its becoming something new and will be able to provide jobs. Though most places like that are family owned and run by family members or close friends.
We lived in Weatherford and even ate there too.. There is a history of companies coming and going i.e. Kincaids.. that left really early after opening up... i do think it has to do with the owners leasing the buildings charging way to much plus the taxes in Weatherford went up during the same time frame as these restaurants closing their doors.. maybe a combination of it all... still very sad.. we need more restaurants and less Emergency clinics, banks and storage places... uhg...
Yes! Weatherford has the monopoly on electricity here. So, if you live within city limits your only choice is Weatherford Electric. Therefore, your bill will be outrageous regardless of the measures you take to keep it down.. On top of the sky high rent. It's insane for such a "small" town.
@@JB-fl4wk I live just north of Weatherford Lake and it's blowing up so fast out here. We live just outside of Weatherford. One of the biggest reasons we don’t eat out in Weatherford is because of the water. It’s horrid. Can ruin a meal very easily. Requires a lot of filtering and equipment furnished by the restaurant to help it. But even after that, you can still get the taste. Until the city rectifies this, restaurants will continue to suffer the effects.
