  • Exploring An Abandoned McDonald's. In this video we check out this older McDonald's location that didnt update but instead closed so a new one could be built and opened a couple of miles up the road. That said, this one has sat abandoned, vandalized, and accessible.

But that's about it. I saw a splatter on the wall at one point, but that is just someone throwing something against the wall. Probably employees right after they emptied it out just having fun.

Most McDonald's built prior to the 1980's had basements used for storing stock and the employee break room ( which was the first room with the green wallpaper). This is definitely a very old store possibly from the late1960's since the freezer was out in the parking lot.

I grew up in this town and frequented this McDonalds more times than I can count. This whole area is prone to flooding which I believe ultimately led to the relocation. The flooding you’re seeing here has to be from Ida last year. The Play Place transformed a couple different times over the years. It was a big ball pit when I was a kid, then it was a big plastic tunnel jungle gym, then just a picnic area. It’s sad to see it in this condition but I can understand that it had to be abandoned. The major floods have been too numerous over the years. Great video! Thanks for shedding light on this vintage McDonalds.

The tiny floating particles in the basement very likely carried mold. Even when visually undetectable, it's still possible to ingest mold via mouth, eyes, ears, hair and uncovered skin. Plus, those mold particles will stick to clothing---until they're washed thoroughly.

One of my McDonald's at home got completely rebuilt all the way back in like 2006, making it one of the first post red roof design McDonald's. They ended up remodeling the inside of it again in 2020 or so, so that's now gone. It seems to be getting more and more rare to see older style locations these days. 6:37 those plugs used to power the bun toasters as well as the warming table if I remember correctly. You can see those old Ethernet and VGA cables which were used for the grill monitors to show what orders were coming in.
8:31 that board being held up by that chain on your right hand side would have been used for offloading stock from truck order into the walk in downstairs. One of the locations I worked at used their basement for the pop syrups as well as dry storage.

@@memyselfandi1300 Prior to the cook to order system they have used since the early 2000's there were actually microwaves called "Q-ing ovens". After building a batch of sandwiches they would go in for like 10 to 30 seconds depending on how many you had. Then they were placed in the sandwich bin until sold or expired. Nobody ever threw out the sandwiches when they expired which is why they got rid of the bin. I remember we would get in trouble if we said the word "microwave".

We had that one little hot box that kept the moisture in the patties that was built into where we threw all the condiments on the burgers. (Maybe it's the same thing but we just use something a bit different?)

The old McDonalds in my town was one of first and was originally a drive in. It was later enclosed with glass. They used to have birthday parties in the basement. It has since been rebuilt to the modern version on same lot.

I used to live in a Flood-Prone Area here in Charlotte, N.C. when I lived in an Apartment and the Hurricane from 2006 did similar damage to part of one of the complexes - i.e. 5'2" Flood Damage to the lower 1st Level. Mold damage to all of the Sheetrock on the 1st Floor Apartments --- Insurance totalled the place out and once the State also even agreed to contribute to a "Demo" Fee, the Rest was very quickly History and the Complex on the left side of the Property ultimately came down. This Building needs to be levelled. It cannot be saved.

@@marcboulware6242 Yep once black mold infiltrates the cinder blocks and the wood, it's all over. Aside from jacking up the whole building and replacing the entire foundation, Tearing it down and starting all over is pretty much the only option.

3:22 - There was a leaking water pipe after the store had closed.
The doors had such good weather-seals, the flooding water filled the floor and basement, not leaking outside.

Out of the three Mcdonalds. The last one was torn down and rebuilt due to the floor started to cave into the basement. From my understanding it was built in 1978. Then the other two was remodeled into a box.

The end was funny. It reminds me of my old neighborhood MCD. They had a canopy over the play land. I remember the olde4 ladies would clean it in the morning and always smelled like Bleach. They wouldn’t let us in until it dried. Yeah, this will probably be torn down. Thanks for showing the basement but you should carry a N95 regardless.

When I was 7 years old that I was in Brownies with my sister and the troop. We went into a McDonald’s during the 70’s it had a basement in it. I do missed the old school McDonald’s. Just the exterior of it. I do liked the modern interior of these 2 McDonald’s that I go to that I have to drive to. Only one of them that I liked a little bit more than the other one because the employees are a little bit more friendly than the other one. I both liked going through the drive thru at both places. One of them the entire restaurant was torn down and rebuilt in this modern design. The other one was remodeled inside and out. I remembered the old one in using this one door near the restroom my family good to used. We never got anyone to say anything to us. This was in the old McDonald’s. When I was little there wasn’t a play area in McDonald’s restaurants and each one has a different interior in each one that I have been into. I remembered this one McDonald’s had 6 Flags theme inside of it since it was so close to a 6 Flags. Another one had a 1950’s looked interior which that I liked. Even looking liked Star Wars that what my mother said. Even a typical McDonald’s with that 1970’s vibe inside when I was little. Even the early 90’s. I have a lot of memories of going to McDonald’s. It was a fun place to go with family when I was little.
