    Since this guy is a beginner, here's what's wrong in this video:
    The input level switch should be set to Lo when using RCA sub pre-outs from your deck. If you don't have RCA amp pre-outs from the deck, then you connect the sub from the speakers in your car that make the most bass and set the input level switch to Hi.
    On the power connector you have power, ground and remote. You want to use remote turn on and set the Auto On switch to REM if your deck has a remote turn on wire. If it doesn't, the preferred method is to install a toggle switch near the dash that runs +12V to the sub on the remote input, then you can turn on the sub manually. If you don't have a remote wire on the deck and don't want to rig up a switch then you can use Audio or DC Offset to turn on the sub, but as he said in the video that might not be as reliable. You can also run the remote turn on wire from the sub to a fused 12v wire that turns on when your ignition is turned on, but make sure there's a fuse as close to the power source as possible.
    Make sure sub is grounded and tight with as thick of a wire as your power wire. You want the ground as close to the sub as you can.
    When running power wire through the firewall if you can't fit the wire alongside the factory harness in the center of the grommet, try to drill a hole in the grommet or notch the grommet on the top so the power wire isn't resting against the metal of the car. This can wear through the wire and if your fuse is a cheap Chinese fuse with incorrect amperage rating, or too high of an amperage, you'll have a real smoke show or a car fire.

      Pinning your comment here! I've learned quite a bit from this video and am planning to remaster it at some point.

    Thanks for the video installing that same setup right now and had no idea I didn’t need to wire the speaker wire to my head unit saved me a lot of time!

    What wire kit did you get, I’m looking around and I’m only dining the subwoofer connection and can find a kit that has the power/ground/fuse with it

    So… I unplugged mine ( exact same subwoofer ) as in just the “remote” plug and the audio input. Then I plugged it back in and I don’t have any bass. But when I unplug “remote” cord the bass comes on but it sounds different and not in a good way ( not in tune with the music )
    Not sure why…

      I'm so sorry, I don't understand what you're asking here! What time stamp in the video did you see molex?

    does it work well without running a signal wire or do you think it is worth running it

    • @theflynnerd7179
      @theflynnerd7179  Год назад

      If you mean a REM wire, then absolutely yes. Even with my car off, it is still picking up some sort of background noise, so the sub never turns off. If your head unit has the REM port then go for it.

      @@theflynnerd7179 I was having the same issue it would turn on with the music but not off. I ended up taping into a fuse with the remote wire and it worked well. didn’t wanna open my dash back up haha

    Do you have to have that fuse on the power wire?

      no but it’s very recommended.

      Yes, you have to, or if you wreck your car the wire will light on fire and total your car even in a minor crash

      Yes, as close the battery as possible. Do you know what happens when an 8-10 gauge wire shorts out in a car without a fuse? You don't want to find out.

    HEY DUDE, your ground is LOOSE, thats for sure and sloppily hooked up into the sub connector
    ALSO, using a aftermarket head unit with SUB OUTS, shouldnt your powered sub woofer be using the low level input selector ?
    Im using hi level and audio sense but im hooking into factor rear 6x9 speaker wires for signal input.

    Why did you not use the middle part of the connector to the sub?

    • @theflynnerd7179
      @theflynnerd7179  Год назад +1

      That is, as far as I know, never used in a car installation. Ground goes to negative, positive goes to positive. Never touch the middle. It won't break anything if you did put it there, the sub just won't turn on.

    • @chef_yt
      @chef_yt 7 месяцев назад

      that’s not right, you connect that to a source of +12 volts when the car is on and 0 volts when the car is off. Then the sub turns on and off automatically. There are multiple ways to turn on and off automatically, so it’s not necessary, it’s just technically the most reliable remote turn-on method

    Will the speaker work if I don't have a fuse

    • @Slowboi335xi
      @Slowboi335xi Год назад

      You can over amp it and blow it. Or start a fire. Put a damn fuse

    • @theflynnerd7179
      @theflynnerd7179  Год назад +2

      If you do this, it is almost guaranteed that upon electrical failure, you will destroy both the sounds system and electrical system of your car. This will happen because the wire will short and melt with the unconstrained energy flowing through it.

    which one good REM or Audio?

    • @badcrcz
      @badcrcz 4 месяца назад

      If your deck has a remote turn on wire you connect that to the sub and switch to REM. If you don't have a remove turn on wire, you can rig up a switch on your dash with +12v to the sub to turn it on and switch to REM. If you don't have a remote turn on wire and don't want to rig up a switch then you can use Audio sense or DC offset.
