I spent the day thrifting by myself at a number of thrift stores. I didn't have much luck at Community Aid this time around, but I did load up at Goodwill.

What anyone does with thrift items after they buy them is NOBODY'S BUSINESS. Reselling or not, Thrift stores get this stuff for FREE. Resellers and upcyclers support these stores regularly often buying things nobody else would use. It is a shame to cut us out of the thrifting "food chain." A prime example is that Mid century stereo unit. It will sit there until it is absolutely worthless because smart re-sellers know it's worth. We have also created our own market to make something like that desirable to our buyers. Grrrrrr. %end rant% Thank you for sharing.
Jen Fk These thrift stores like Goodwill do not support local programs like charities do! They are retail machines/corporations that are fueled by greed. This crap that they hire workers that no one else would is just garbage. Most states subsidize these worker’s salaries with your tax dollars. Goodwills are mega regional corporations! They have good paying middle management jobs just like all corporations do. The real workers are just cheap labor. 99% of the public could care less as long as they have a dump site for their unwanted items. Start a non-profit in your area that will pick up unwanted items, uses volunteer help, and see what happens to Goodwill.
A Habitat for Humanity store near me has a new manager. He goes through the albums, jewelry, glassware and antiques and up prices them! His philosophy is that someone will resell it. Without the re sellers all this stuff would still be sitting there or in the landfill. All their inventory was donated. I get it that their profits go to charity. Any amount above free is profit.

@@Skywatcher_57 It is the same at one of my locals. Sadly it used to be one of the best in the area. The problem with this store is that most of the volunteers there are also collectors. It is the whole reason they volunteer there to begin with. The good vintage stuff goes home with them and the crappy stuff gets marked ultra high and sits on the shelves for months. I know this is fact as I know one of the volunteers. They only keep afloat because they sell so many clothes and even those are over priced. I no longer go in and neither do a lot of other people. it is notorious in the are now for the most expensive op shop on the peninsula. It is cheaper to go buy new at K Mart.
A charity thrift store near me tried raising their prices last year when they realized thrifting was the “popular” thing. They lost a lot of customers and now I’ve realized they’ve dropped their prices back down again🙄
Thrifting is definitely getting harder where I live. When you find a used item dearer than an identical new one buying second hand doesn't seem the best option. Our local salvation army lists things on eBay and researches prices so there are no bargains. I'm not a reseller, just someone who can't afford new very often, now I can't afford thrift store prices either. I'm all for supporting their causes but their thrift outlets are supposed to be affordable for low income people and families who are struggling financially and that's simply no longer the case
@@jaclyng7022 Statistically speaking the number of resellers is small across the board. They raise prices to keep up with overhead and personal profit with an edge of gouging because they know they can. The reality is they're hip to the game and despite policy you don't have to be a fly on the wall to know who gets 1st pick.

@@jaclyng7022 To discriminate and raise prices on your best customers to make a bit more money off of them actually has the opposite effect on their business as they price even the resellers out of the store. If they continued to keep their prices reasonable they could not only continue to provide affordable items to the lower income bracket but actually increase their business with resellers making them much more money than those few items they priced high, often like what happened with the stereo in the video overpriced items sit for so long they end up broken and in the landfill. I resell but I don't go for the obvious brand names or items, it's about knowledge. I can walk right behind another (typical) reseller and make more money from the things they ignored than what they will make from the obvious (and overpriced) items they pick.
If that ship mug is the "Mayflower" it may be worth holding on to till next year for The 400th Anniversary.
I work as a donation attendant, and I can tell you that the employees are not happy at the prices going up. I end up throwing away a ton of nice stuff because it won’t sell. Couple that with the actual trash I get (I’ve gotten used plungers) and I spend a good portion of my day by the dumpster.
IronVincas I support St Vincent de Paul because they get the stuff priced to move. They do not want to sit on anything. They have so much for $.50-$1. They go nuts on very few items. They do have volunteer help that keeps prices way down. I never understood why Goodwill will not have a markdown section as opposed to throwing things away.

I worked at a Good Will, before.The amount of waste, there was astronomical.After a certain amount of time, if an item, isn't sold, it either gets pitched, for example books, or bagged up, clothes, and resold, by the pound.Glassware, is either, thrown in a caged dumpster, or wrapped, in linens, and sent, to ''the bins'.Staff weren't allowed to buy, for resale purposes, for fear of being found out, and fired.I didn't last long there, but I do shop there. I can always tell, when management is out, because I am able to score some good deals
@@adorableadornments1101 We have a "sorter" for housewares and a lot of stuff they throw in the trash is either already broken (figurines with pieces broken off or chipped dishes) or since they have to move fast it gets broken. We also within the last couple of months got a dumpster that locks so people can't go through it. though i have pulled some stuff out that could be sold one of which was possibly an actual LBJ campaign button.
I feel these things were donated and they should be glad to get people in there buying their junk! what people do with it after its sold is no ones business....
For starters, I love your channel - I watch you with my coffee every morning :) And I''m so much more observant at the thrift store now (I don't resell, I just love to rummage). The thing with the "good causes" behind these companies (some of them), is that the main benefit to the community is where they provide items at lower prices for to help families live an affordable life and keep things out of landfills. But if they start jacking up prices to spite resellers, they're only hurting themselves, their customers and the community. Take the stereo cabinet - that was overpriced, got damaged, got reduced, and maybe will end up at the dump after all that. And for what purpose? It's nobody's business what you do with the items once you leave the store - you pay your money just like everyone else.
exactly!!! no ones business! if someone wants to keep an item that they paid for or sell it and someone else wants to pay more for it.. that's all on the people buying... :) at least resellers buy their items.

I don't understand why a thrift store would try to push out resellers. The store gets stuff donated for free...and ressellers give them money for their products (which is a pure profit for the store). It should be a symbiotic relationship....
The purpose of the thrift store is to sell things for a thrifty price. The purpose of a reseller is to find sellable items to sell to a specific audience. There are no toes getting stepped on...that Community Thrift be trippin'. The fact that they are raising their prices so high shows how uncommunity oriented they really are.
Mercurial Pierrot Pure profit? What about the cost of renting, heating, n staff for the part that isnt subsidised. Im not saying that what they do is ok( dont know any details, im not from the USA) but its not as simple as u put it . . . Right?
U r right...there’s overhead but some of these thrift stores are ran purely by volunteers...there might be one paid person overseeing it but most are volunteers...then they’re tax exempt because they file the 5013c as a non profit...their overhead is much much less then normal...but they’ll figure it out before too long when business slows down for them because of it....they have to leave something for a profit margin for resellers since that’s a good portion of their customer base...look at retail stores...they started putting out less expensive brands like Walmart actually putting $3 bras on the racks and it’s done very well...regular price for a bra is $12-$15 for a plain old bra...Some people can’t spend that much for something so basic...and they figured that out..give it time lol
@@w8what575 Actually I think just about everyone in the larger thrift stores is paid staff. Small stores in churches and retirement homes may have volunteers, but not Goodwill, Savers, Value Village or any place like that.
I’ve heard from someone in my family (who knows about how “it’s”run) that the ceo of one chain of thrift stores are pocketing most of the money... maybe 10-15% if that of their total income goes back into the community- most goes into the big wigs pockets. It’s a nation wide chain too. That’s my concern with prices being raised.
Most big, well known, thrift stores are making A LOT of money but we (the pple who support them- give them our stuff to sell) can’t see where all the money goes???
I don’t trust them. Simple.

@@dawnrinkydinkfinds5337 It's good to find out more about each store that you shop in. Some are "for profit", like Value Village and, I guess Savers. They benefit the community by buying donated items by the pound from a charity's pick-up service (at least that's how it works where I live). I think they're pretty transparent about being a for profit business. Others like Goodwill and Salvation Army are supposedly using most of their profit for their "good works". I agree about the concerns over prices being raised. It serves everyone better to keep prices low and sell more stuff!
It is all about greed. A lot of the times I find that I can go to Walmart and buy similar items for less money granted it’s new but still...... I think these big “non profit” organizations are cutting out the resellers but it is also affecting the folks that need assistance in buying discounted, still nice useable household items and clothing, Which is what the thrift stores are supposed to be geared towards anyway. The items being sold are donated to help people and the community so I’m not sure why this is happening, it’s not like they pay for the shelves being stocked. Theses non profits are totally losing sight of what they were originally set up to accomplish. In the long run I think they are cutting off their nose to spite their face. I hope so anyway. Really makes me angry 😡. Also, so much of the overpriced items are being dumped in the landfill, which makes me even angrier. 😡

Minnesota gal that’s possible. I have written to my Gov about things that are usable being tossed in a landfill and about recycling. It upsets me terribly. I saw a video today where a young girl was dumpster diving at a thrift store. There were items in that dumpster that were purposely destroyed so people couldn’t use the trashed items. It’s getting ridiculous.
@@minnesotagal507 Customers at Walmart buy a lot of stuff because it's "cheap". Now I don't want to tell someone what they really need and what they don't need, but a lot of stuff at purchased at Walmart (and other places, I admit) is junk and there's nothing cheap about it in the broader sense of the word. Think before you buy or much of your purchases will end up in a landfill or the trash. Btw, thrift stores don't owe resellers a thing. I applaud resellers for saving nice and useful items, but thrift stores weren't set up to help some people to make a living or earn a few extra bucks.
Debbie Woolard----I agree. And the salaries of the CEOs of these organizations are eye opening! I can't name one person who has been directly helped...ie....maybe being given free items after their house burned....from any of the organizations who purport to "help others." I refuse to donate to, or buy from, them. My donations go to help animal rescues........And even then, some of the national animal rescues only use about 2 cents from each dollar to actually help animals. It's the epitome of GREED.
n adams St. Vincent de Paul stores in my area give things away all the time to needy families. They truly are a thrift store with thrift store prices.
Charity thrift stores need to stay charitable on all levels.

@@TheRozzyRozz I agree they should be there for the needy & under privileged. One day a lady with a handful of items was at the cash register to checkout. She asked the manager if she could discount the items because she had lost all of her property in a house fire. The manager laughed & said , " No this ain't the Salvation Army...we don't don't help the needy...no reduction of price. I gave the lady a few bucks so she could buy the towel & washcloths. It would not have hurt the manager to give her the items or at least sell them for cheap.

Prices here have been sort of high but my favorite thrift store just jacked up anything vintage of value to eBay prices. I left the last two times empty handed and crossed them off my list as a waste of time. Are they going to be making any more money if no one will buy it? If they want to be a Thrift store, prices should reflect that. If they want to be an antique shop, they need to take "thrift" off their door.

P L except now garage sale people don’t put prices on their stuff, want you to tell them what you’ll pay and then after the offer, will saysomething like “no, I looked that up on eBay and it’s going for twice that”
@@maryd2768 That's when I tell them that people on ebay can ask what they like. What they get is another story. I have educated many people on SOLD LISTINGS. I also refuse to make offers. They give me a price or I don't but it for sure.
Tracey Hunts Treasure I always say that it’s only worth what someone is willing to pay. I went to a flea market a couple weeks ago. It was winding down and pouring rain outside. I’d pick something up and ask what the best price would be on that item. Some people would lower the price but one lady said “it already is the best price. I don’t negotiate”. It made perfect sense why she still had 4 tables full of stuff getting rained on. I’m thinking she was a new seller.
Mary Hill I'm from Decatur and the prices started going up about 5 years ago. I'm not a reseller but things I used to be able to get inexpensively are ridiculously priced now. I don't know how folks like CLL are going to profit for much.
The popularity of your channel has drawn massive attention to the Harrisburg and Hanover Community Aids---POSTITIVE attention and FREE advertising for them. I think it's completely fair that you comment on the jacked up prices. Perhaps cast your net wider and let them flounder into obscurity once again.

treasure rescue I was in Salv army thrift and their radio was blasting Dancing Queen by ABBA this old man was next to me singing out loud the line DANCING QUEEN YOUNG AND SWEET ONLY 17....kinda creepy but funny...in a creepy way🙄🤦🏽♀️
The same thing is happening in thrift shops that happened in real estate in Greenwich Village and the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. Artists and musicians made them neighborhoods people wanted to live in then developers came in and jacked the rent up so high they drove out the people who made the place. Same with the resellers. They brought a lot of business into the thrift shops and now the shops realize they can get more for the products and decided to get that money for themselves instead of the resellers making the money off the items, With a dwindling market of collectors and people knowing what they have and pricing accordingly as well as the number of people selling vs the number of people wanting to buy I think the days of being a reseller are numbered. The younger generation for the most part seem to have little interest in antiques these days and even reasonably priced antique shops in the area seem to be closing down or have empty booths in them, Same with the flea market where I live. Fewer and fewer vendors making enough money to have tables there on weekends now, I find most of the good items these days at estate sales from people born in the 40s. They collected all this old stuff and with the lack of a market for these items in my area the prices are pretty low, They are there to liquidate not do a ebay price sale,
Look at other smaller thrift stores in your area too. Our cancer society store has some good prices. The ladies there take a lot of pride in what they do too. They wash and steam all the clothing. I find sometimes the smaller venues have better deals, at least in my area it’s better quality donations as well.
I remarked to one of the ladies working that they had very fare pricing and she said well it’s all donated. We want to make money and have it be a value to others as well. I think big corps sort of forget that. :(
I agree. The smaller independent stores have better prices. Goodwill stores are trying to grab some of that reseller profit for themselves. I can just imagine the discussions that go on in the Goodwill corporate offices about how to maximize their profits. There's your corporate mentality vs the mentality at the smaller independent storea.

Crystal Caffrey that’s amazing!! I I’m usually have to wash clothes 3 times & have them soak over night. Doesn’t matter the baking soda or vinegar. It’s hard getting smells out.
Crystal Caffrey my town has a small thrift store that raises money for the children’s hospital. It is very small, but really well staged. They have the worst parking lot in town though. It is hard to get in and out of, and usually full. There is decent parking across the street though.
Yes, I went to a small Thrift Store in Gulf Breeze and the prices were awesome. I complimented the owner for the pricing and she said "Well you will never see me hike the prices. I don't care what Ebay does." So yes, definitely support the smaller stores.
People are ditching the thrift shops and sourcing at garage sales on the weekend.

Glad you saved the sleeping kitty! I made so many ceramic pieces in the ‘80’s and gave most of them away as gifts. Sometimes I wonder what happened to those pieces. So much work, time and love was put into some of those things and the thought that they might end up donated to Goodwill breaks my heart!
I opened my vintage store 6 years ago- I used to find things at thrift stores to sell there. Now I’m cheaper than thrift stores and I pay for everything that I sell

I've found the same thing in thrift stores lately- less merchandise; higher prices. I think donations may be down. Now that people don't need to donate to itemize deductions at a certain level on their taxes, I predicted that donations would go down. That could be one reason for higher prices. At least you still have your flea market sources! People can also go to garage sales and estate sales. We just have to find other ways to get our stuff other than depending on the thrift store. I had a friend who was an antique/collectibles dealer. She was purposely vague about where she was finding her stuff. I understand now. If everyone knows about your sources, you will compete with them for things for sale there.
That dog planter is sitting in my window sill. It was my mother’s from the 50’s and I adore it. Being that is was my mom’s makes it priceless❤️
I have to say that I don't go thrifting at the larger stores here in Australia, Salvos, Goodwill, RedCross, Savers etc as the prices are astronomical. It's all garage sale, church op shops, Gumtree and FB Market Place now. I think it's something that is happening everywhere
My mother in law worked in one before she retired and she said that they had budgets to meet... and the one store she worked at turned over a quarter of a million dollars for one store ! Times that my thousands of stores 😳
I agree about oz, a water jug selling for $1 with the lid in target is $3 with no lid in an op shop.
Tops in cheap shops and on sale new are priced at twice that in thrift stores, faded and used looking. When I go out of town to visit friends I like to go around the thrift shops there and sadly when I went last month, they had a lot of the same overpriced stuff still on shelves from 6 months ago.
Yeah, on my last Goodwill trip I saw Dollar Tree Items marked for $1.97 and even $2.97. I couldn’t believe it! And some Vera Bradley purses in the case were also very high for a used purse. They had a wallet marked for $12.97.

The good will in my town has raised the prices so much I cant believe it, they also got rid of the half off day.
I felt so bad when you got in the car from Community Aid, you had tears in your eyes. Mean people suck! Looks like you scored at Goodwill, that store made me happy. "The Squeaky Cart" a new scary movie just out for for Halloween viewing pleasure.
I felt the same . You could feel Jocelyns "confusion " as to why someone was mean. I even told my sister it was a sad video. It made my heart hurt for her. She's probably not as bugged as her followers, we don't want people to be mean to Jocelyn. She is such a beautiful soul. Inside and out.

One Goodwill manager told me that they want the prices of certain items the same in all the GW stores ( per district ) . Example ladies jeans $ 6.00, ladies shoes $ 4.00, ladies boots $ 10.00, ladies blouses $ 4.00.. I would like to hope that there are still some treasures for some of us to find in the household & in the paintings & maybe the jewelry section. I feel the jewelry is mostly picked over before it comes out to be sold. Thrift stores put the fine jewelry on line to be auctioned off.
I was told that GW actually has a person to pull the valuable items out to sell on their ebay store, for charity of course, but I'm guessing that they aren't experts.
It is something how much their CEO makes a year and they get all their Store items for free..... and because some people come for the deals, they aren’t happy & want to raise prices
My Goodwill is now standard prices. No color of week, no sales, etc. They got way too greedy.
@@susanfontaine5214 Our Goodwill still have the sales on certain colored tags but they pull most of those sale items....so very few items are on sale Monday thru Friday & on weekends nothing is on sale. I'm thinking they're going back to the days of no 50% off items....Just full over priced items. I will be buying less like many of my friends who only buy 1- 3 items per visit. They used to buy a cart load twice a week. Thrift stores see others making profit on line & they figure they can make more $$$ too. These increased prices take fun out of thrifting. I'll still go thrifting & have some fun but buying fewer items. Good Luck everyone hope you find treasures.

Its a double edged sword... I enjoy the reselling channels like yours, however its the channels that are driving the prices up. You guys have brought so many people into the business.. You are also educating the companies like Good Will... I have being "picking" as a hobby business for 35 years... Since I was 13-14... Before RUclips there were far fewer people in the business.... The golden years of eBay were 1998-2007...

Totally agree. I used to pick from Thrift Stores (Charity Shops in the UK) and Flea Markets in the 1990s when there was no Google, no online comps, no eBay, no RUclips... in fact no internet really lol. You had to really know your onions and sift the gems from trash. We ran an antique store from 1990-1997 and then started selling online when eBay started. Buying for a profit from Thrift Stores in the last year has become impossible since the popularity of Reseller RUclipsrs has risen as more people enter the market (thinking its easy pickings) and prices escalate. Soon resellers will outstrip buyers!
I think social media ruins everything... I used to coupon and used to pay $7 for a lot of stuff and sell it at my yard sales. Once people started to share it on Instagram and RUclips then everyone started to do it. Then manufacturer changed their coupons. Its harder now. I think its better to not share and let people figure it out on their own.
Good will gets free stuff and sells them.. the resellers pay for the stuff.. what they do with it after is their business. Also if Good will is a "thrift store" they need to sell items at thrift prices since they got them for nothing.

I found a nice painting for my guest room, it had a label on the back with the painter and date, 1971. It just sort of made me smile, the story it might tell of how it got from Falls Church, VA to Gig Harbor, WA , what it was doing for those 48 years. It was $6, I think for art if you are willing to wait and shop regularly it is a good place to shop. Got it at Goodwill.
A sale is a sale. They will find they have ALOT of stock just sitting on the shelves.

Hi, The Pottery Basket you initially picked up is Early Haeger Pottery in the Mauve Agate glaze c1930-40s. Agreed the prices are going up and as others have commented they forget we the resellers are their main supporters. Great video as always!!👍😍😍😍

I am located on the east coast and I am thoroughly convinced that at least Goodwills and probably other thrift stores are not even setting out the majority of the items that are being donated. We were told by one Goodwill employee in our area that 80-90 percent of donated items are sent directly to the Outlets and/or are being auctioned off there or online. We even heard, don't know how much truth there is to this, but that employees in many thrift stores are keeping the higher priced items for themselves and reselling them.

Our St Vincent's store has not only raised prices...the donations have really sucked for sometime..I don't know what happened but it takes the fun out of thrifting
Think about it, Jocelyn. For years, resellers quietly made their profit on thrift store finds. Now many of those sellers are making videos about it. Certainly Goodwill execs are looking for ways to increase their bottom lines, and they've decided to take some of the resellers' profits for themselves. It's interesting that many YT thrifters are still finding good deals in their areas while many subscribers comment that they find nothing in their local stores. Clearly there are regional differences, but the higher prices do seem to be encroaching everywhere. It's unfortunate for all of us who want to re-use and do so at a good price.
My area has been overpriced for a while. But it’s also so random. Yesterday I picked up a gorgeous Siamese Cat turned it over expecting to see 8.99 and it was marked 1.99💁🏻♀️. I think as long as people are buying they are going to price it higher. Hopefully if they see items just sitting they will eventually come back down. Although much like that stereo it means things will get damaged too.

I’ve learned I just need to go after different stuff. I’ve had some luck with art. Silverware picking out mid century pieces. I found a set of silver ware I bought for $11. I’ve been piecing it out and I’m up to $75 and still have about $20 left.,
It is getting harder but I try to just look at it as a challenge:)
I think they do compensate for half off days.

I think they match the prices things sell for on ebay. This happened a long time ago in Europe. Charity shops are for the most part relatively expensive here.
In the last few years in the UK . Our charity shops sell all the good stuff directly on Ebay. The shops have the left overs, marked high. I often see items for sale higher than the original selling price. I had to laugh last week, they had a vase from Next for sale.
The vase still had the sticker on it for £24, the charity shop had it up for £35 !
Yet while I was there they where turning down donations because they didn't have room for it !
UK here too and I had a piece of furniture go for firewood because all the local charities who do furniture said they had no space for more donations while sitting packed with stuff priced far too high.

It IS happening!! I live in a little town in Idaho and just 1 year ago prices at the local thrift store, Goodwill and even the little church thrift stores were very low in price and fun to go and find stuff. I don't resell. NOW, just a year later they all, even the little Methodist thrift store has tripled and quadrupled their prices.... ALL of them! They are GREEDY, that is it. Thrifts are getting in on the profits being made with on line selling. GREED. It's terrible. Used to be so much fun to go with $5.00 and find fun stuff

Really enjoying your videos. I sell all manner of things too over here in the UK, including china, paintings, some toys and clothing, but it is such a refreshing change to watch someone picking up and showing different items too. Many of the videos out there are all clothing or media items. Thanks for sharing these with us.
We are feeling the price increase here in Tennessee also.
Most of the thrift stores where I live always overpriced. I find dollar tree stuff for 3 or 4 dollars sometimes. There is one goodwill that has a little better prices then the rest but they always overpriced anything they feel is valuable. I only buy for myself but still won't pay what they want. I always feel lucky when I manage to find something valuable that they missed.
Yeah, when I see Dollar Tree pieces at Goodwill for 99 cents and it still has the Dollar Tree sticker on it, I can't understand what the pricers are thinking.

I found a new Goodwill in my area it's new to me, not new in the area lol but the manager cashed me out and I told her I love her store so much more latky her quality of items are a lot nicer. She told me since it's her store she gets first pick on what comes in. I wonder how that all works.
I just recently discovered your channel and really enjoy shopping with you! I also have anxiety concerning loud noises and too many people, so it's nice to see I am not alone! Sisters in heart-pounding, shortness of breath and all tha good stuff! I don't take medication for it. One time I had a doozy of an anxiety atack and had to leave the opera,mid aria. My boyfriend was not happy. But anyway I also enjoy your channel because I can educate myself on the items. I don't resale but would if I was about 20 years younger. What a great counter. I need those huge lime green earrings. The silver flying bird I think is a Porteous, well known a lil north of you guys. They always had major tough backs, as they were for lady’s jackets. They go great on denim jackets even, I went into the countryside and into the woods, up a decrepit old fire tower for my husband to take pictures of goldfinch. My Porteous pin was not even scratched. In the college library I took off said jacket, went to get a book, came back, no more pin! Maybe that’s the one! Anyway, durable and cool,probably not a great flip though.
You gotta come picking and detecting here in Maine, I have a very similar wreath, 75 cents at a Saturday year round flea. Once a guy offered his entire table full for ten dollars! I kid you not.

Prices increase with time, regardless of resellers. If they make more money because of higher prices, great for them, but it can only last for so long. Resellers get the prices that they do for items, because the buyer is paying for the price of the hunt. Your average thrift patron will not pay those higher prices and if the business is run well, they will readjust their prices to their market. At the end of the day, you have to be smarter than the thrift, or move on to a new market. Just keep adjusting your business to whatever comes your way! Happens to all of us ❤️
The Goodwill and the homeless aide, Karm Stores, have been way high for a few years in my area. I was amazed at your great prices.
Goodwill in my area is also very overpriced. I try to go to smaller local thrift stores when I can that are run by churches or local charities.

That fish shaped dish looked like an aspic mould, or at least a decorative version of one. You steam (salmon usually), put it in the dish and pour aspic over it, then when it is set you tip it out and surround it with decorative salad or something.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets sentimental items. I have a bird painting that a grandpa did of his parakeet and the grandma write a note on the back to the grandson. I could not leave it behind. 😀

What the people pricing are not realizing is that EBay works with those higher prices because they have a global or national market. The chance of finding someone locally who wants that blue bowl for that price is actually pretty low.
Well, I think Resellers/Reselling has put the "kabosh" on for regular thrifters in general. Way too many Resellers and reselling internet sites have saturated the market. So what happens to the regular family that shops for their kids clothes or just plain housewares for their home?? Shopping at thrift stores for us regular folks is going to be a thing of the past soon. Sad.

Prices in my area have been high for a couple years now and almost impossible to make a profit. And now the church sales and charities are complaining the interest is down. Between the high prices and the fact most places take the best for there own online sales they are hurting them selves. Wish we had half off days.

I have your Ebay store stored as a favorite on my Ebay page. I also sell on Ebay. Because of the popularity of this RUclips channel, you are selling more things and for way more money than if I were to list the same item. Half the stuff you sell on yours wouldn't sell on mine. Great video!! Your stores are cleaner and better stocked and arranged than my stores. You also have more interesting items in your stores. I swear mine has had the same stuff for at least 3 years. I’m sure they haven’t, but that’s how it feels. Also, they put their mugs three deep on pegs on a board. Awkward. Prices are getting higher, but there are always the flea markets. I noticed you video almost everyday, I use to hit 4 thrift stores in 1 day once a week and I stay on one side of town then I would hit 4 stores on the other side of town a few days later. And then I notice a bigger change when I pop in. Or consider driving a little farther out ... I love watching thank you for sharing.
Here in Northern CA, I don't have any "chain" thrift stores nearby. But I do have lots of animal-charity thrift stores and some for hospice, cancer aid and the homeless. These are singles, or a multiple, county-only group of stores. The prices are all across the board, as is quality and selection - but most have half-off days and friendly staff. I shop one weekend a month and generally find a good range of items at great prices (new shoes for $2-$5 a pair, shirts and sweaters for $1.75 each, etc). I have more luck with these little, local charity stores than with the larger, state or nation-wide chains, and encourage folks to seek out those little shops in their area.
