Reject Modernity, Embrace Masculinity: When Toxicity Is Masked As Positivity

- Recently, I’ve been seeing these “Reject Modernity, Embrace Masculinity” videos popping up, a trend, along with its multiple variations, that has seemed to catch on over the past few months and felt compelled to make a short video to discuss.
While the “embrace masculinity” portions are for the most part fine, the "reject modernity" sections mostly consist of just making fun of fat people and not so thinly veiled homophobia and transphobia. Let's discuss...

@@wadless1712 This seems like an emotional response. Not very masculine. I’d simply encourage him to improve himself and cheer him on during his journey to become healthier. I would never mock him for being overweight. That is a pretty poor way to motivate others.
@CJ P. Tough love is usually in regard to telling someone you care about harsh advice that they need to hear, the idea being that you want them to better themselves. In this case, these vids aren't meant to reach out to the men being mocked to try and encourage them to choose a different path they are just... being mocked.
@@wadless1712 Something I have noticed with a lot of men is that, while they believe that being "stoic" is masculine, the reality is that many men don't have much control over their emotions, thus they fluctuate between extremes, either severe harshness or intense despair. However, the irony is that these men are not masculine at all as they are constantly battling their emotions. Being needlessly harsh to someone more often than not only leads to them becoming more down on themselves, thus, making it more likely they will just give up. By being honest, but also optimistic and supportive, that is what leads to desired results.

That’s a pretty poor system. In that case you are still letting others influence you, thus you are still a sheep. You should make up your own mind based on facts and logic as opposed to what others think.
@@MacabreStorytelling I think it's called motivation and it's not bad to be motivated. Using your logic, why are you letting videos influence how you feel? I've also never come across someone who uses the word "sheep" to describe someone unironically.
Except numerous studies have shown negative motivation isn't nearly as effective in the long term as positive motivation. Hence why I find the second halves of the vids to be great, but the first halves to be pretty pathetic.
The videos didn't necessarily make me feel all that much, however it is sad to see so many men who are truly starved for motivation have to settle for this sort of crap because, like yourself, they seem to lack actual positive and supportive people in their life.

Zyzz has been gone for 10 years, yet he remains relevant. A true bodybuilding icon.

A true bodybuilding icon? What you know about bodybuilding?
More like the most overrated fitness influencer/icon, with all the due respect. His legend is almost exclusively based on looks, gimmicks, a few cool catchphrases and basic motivational quotes, which shows how shallow he actually was, and how shallow his fans are too, which is funny considering how most of them will also bash girls for being shallow and dance semi naked in front of a camera...oh wait.
His fitness habits, outside his workouts, were literally non existent: he took doses of juice that would have scared pro bodybuilders, did drugs, partied, whored and boozed like there was no tomorrow, ate like shit, didn't do cardio and rarely slept enough. He basically relied on his gifted height, baby face and muscle insertions to do the magic, he slacked on everything else...yet his 4chan fanboys like to claim he was one of them, a looser with shitty genetics who became a god solely on hard work. His gimmicky persona where he pretended to be a resentful former nerd who shamed girls he considered ugly was also taken too seriously by his incelly fanboys, even if he, at least, rarely ever put men down.
There are far better fitness influencers out there with actually substantial content and actual positive attitude, the kind you can't turn into cringy, bigoted, toxic memes. His fanboys made him be a larger than life figure, when he would been fine as little more than an aesthetic Ricardo Milos.
@@cybermidas3973 nobody says he’s perfect, as you’ve explained he’s far from it, but when he was here he was a source of inspiration for hundreds, the story of a scrawny kid making it and changing his life, a lot of young men looked up to a figure who seemed larger then life and he made them want to change there lives for the better
his personality, his wit, his outlook on life, and his cocky charismatic charm, its what grew his infamy, and why he’s remember greatly, you can bring up how not great he himself was as a person, he wasn’t perfect at all, but that doesn’t change the flame of inspiration he set a blaze in people, the blaze that continues to burn today

@@MacabreStorytelling great question thanks for asking, but think about it. Anytime masculinity is praised is only when is being dismantled. By putting others down you are only gonna get a fleeting sense of superiority, fellas, you are never gonna get to the root of your insecurities this way. You wanna be men? Then actually face your fears instead of acting like cowards. Someone who has real confidence in themselves does not go around comparing themselves to others. You just gotta realise that you are worth as much as any other person, just by being yourself. Much love, hope you'all get your heads out of your own asses.
The whole point wasn’t to put down others but say” dont follow this path” it would have the same meaning if there were drunks or alcoholics or doomers in the beginning of the edits as well
The point of these videos is not to push down others. It is to reveal a different path that has been lost and deemed toxic due to the shift of the media being shoved in our feed. These videos help men gain confidence and discipline. The people that comment hating on others are not part of us as they are most likely just trolls without any confidence nor discipline trying to gain attention.

First off, getting offended on the internet is like seeing a dog turd in the yard and instead of walking around it, stepping in it and then complaining about it. Secondly, since when is fitness, self-improvement, and motivation bad things?
No one said those were bad things. That’s your emotions talking. And this is ignoring that those who make these cringe videos are the ones who got triggered in the first place.
@@MacabreStorytelling - A few thoughts.
Firstly, not everyone has the same goals or objectives, or definitions for what success is. If those people want to live such as they are, then they are free to do so. No one is "attacking" them as you seem to suggest. But, others are certainly free to use them as examples of what "not" to be. And you simply being of a different opinion, does not make you morally superior in any regard.
The second, is that you seem perturbed at others success. To that I ask, what is it to you how others live their lives? What business is it of yours, how they train themselves, or what motivates them to do so? If you might take advice from a stranger, friend, perhaps if you focused less on what others are saying and doing, and focus on yourself and your own goals instead, you might realize them.
The third, is that using such persons as examples for motivation to improve themselves, is not being "triggered." For men who do not wish to be obese, mentally flaccid, physically weak, or feminine do no harm in observing or highlighting those that are. At no point in any of the video has there been any statements to the contrary. You are simply assuming there.
Lastly, if anyone is triggered in this scenario, that would be you. Personally, I feel no sympathy or empathy for anyone in their situation who lack the motivation or willpower to better themselves, and those that do have such characteristics, are hardly the villain's in the situation.
I tire of this "glorifying weakness," that has become the new standard in society. No longer is physical strength or mental resilience hallmarks or goals to achieve, but instead have become as you illustrate, "bad examples." If such men become the new "norm," then I would ask where precisely would you expect society to end up? Not for the better, I assure you.
I would add that despite our disagreement on this issue, I do wish you all the best in life, no matter what path you happen to walk.
Cheers.

Grass is a type of plant with narrow leaves growing from the base. A common kind of grass is used to cover the ground in places such as lawns and parks. Grass is usually the color/colour ‘green’. Grasses are monocotyledon herbaceous plants.

Grass
The grasses include the "grass" of the family Poaceae. This family is also called Gramineae. The family also include some of the sedges (Cyperaceae) and the rushes (Juncaceae).[1] These three families are not closely related but all of them belong to clades in the order Poales. They are similar adaptations to a common life-style.
The true grasses include cereals, bamboo and the grasses of lawns (turf) and grassland. Uses for graminoids include food (as grain, sprouted grain, shoots or rhizomes), drink (beer, whisky), pasture for livestock, thatching thatch, paper, fuel, clothing, insulation, construction, sports turf, basket weaving and many others.
Many grasses are short, but some grasses can grow very tall, such as Bamboo. Plants from the grass family can grow in many places and make grasslands, including areas which are very arid or cold. There are several other plants that look similar to grass and are referred to as such, but are not members of the grass family. These plants include rushes, reeds, papyrus and water chestnut. Seagrass is a monocot in the order Alismatales.
Grasses are an important food for many animals, such as deer, buffalo, cattle, mice, grasshoppers, caterpillars and many other grazers. Unlike other plants, grasses grow from the bottom, so when animals eat grass they usually do not destroy the part that grows.[2] This is a part of why the plants are successful. Without grass, soil may wash away into rivers (erosion).

No
Woah, an actually good take. I keep saying it, masculinity is strength, confidence, security, self assured, with powerful leadership qualities. you can't lead anyone by mocking them! a dude wearing a dress doesn't affect anyone else, if it does that's an internal problem they haven't worked on. it is easier to bash someone else than to fix oneself
masculine men don't need to approve of or encourage feminine guys, just a simple "skirts aren't for me, I can't help but laugh when I see a guy in a skirt but to each their own" will suffice. but these dudes are so insecure they feel the need to tear into the core personality of others that they don't agree with, it makes it so obvious that they are grasping at validation for themselves and something lacking in their own masculinity.

I see the "Embrace masculinity" as a way to become a better version of yourself as a man, no matter what kind of man you are.
Straight, gay, or whichever orientation you choose to be. To me being masculine is to be kind, respectful, look out after other people and encourage other men to enjoy the life they choose.
If a man wants to wear a skirt let them, it's their life and if they're happy with it and with their conception of masculinity who am I to say they cannot enjoy it. As a fellow man is my responsibility to protect his right to enjoy who he is.
Being a man is not about being a swole dude. To me being a man is to support your fellow men. And to be someone who loves himself.
You cannot be gay and masculine at the same time, they are antithetical, even if the homosexual fits the mold in appearance and actions. One of the most vital components to masculinity is attraction to women and the siring of offspring
@@masrr3678 I don't think that being attracted to women and sire children is the core of masculinity. Discipline, strength both of body and mind and the desire to provide and protect.
@@falloutrains2641 so if a woman has discipline, strength of body and mind, and also the desire to protect her loved ones, that is a masculine woman? Or a woman exhibiting masculine traits? Of course not, those are surface level human traits. And if you claim that "no, those are/can be feminine traits also" okay then but in that case what is the difference between masculinity and femininity? These are not fabricated constructs and the proof of that is the historic roles men and women have played in general, and the biological differences.. What are those differences? Well to start, the attraction to the opposite sex is chief among them, it is inherently masculine to have an attraction to women, the second would be the desire to create a progeny and an heir. After these you can then incorporate those more basic things you mentioned that males are more inclined towards.
@@masrr3678 I disagree. But to each their own I guess
@@masrr3678 it makes no sense to say masculinity is based on attraction to women. What are bisexuals then? Neither masculine nor femenin?. What you describe is being heterosexual
Also why masculine and femenine has to be absolutes. Some people are more masculine than others and that seems fine to mr
I don't see anything wrong in embracing masculinity. The problem today is masculinity is treated as something bad, something men should be ashamed of, something that needs to be changed. And that agenda is being pushed to such an extent that it's being brainwashed right from kindergarten. When people blindly reject masculinity labeling it as toxic, there will always be those who reject that idea. It's only recently that such videos about "reject modernity" has come in because there is lot of hate for masculinity that is being pushed in the society. Embrace masculinity but always respect those (trans, gays etc) who respect you. Never respect some shitty fat activist who calls you fat phobic for going to a gym, being fat is always unhealthy, no second thoughts about it.
I irony is that by mocking more than ideas in these vids and focusing their ire at other men who are doing them no harm, they are in effect proving those who shame masculinity right.

Some just can't differentiate the fear of being weak with the love in finding strength.
👆👆👆
@Matthew1157 because if you fear you really aren’t strong. If a dude is so worried about what others think of him that isn’t strength.
@Matthew1157 that’s a separate issue. If you are only doing something because you fear a bad outcome that isn’t necessarily a trait of confidence since depending on what your afraid of that fear can control you. I see a lot of men be driven into certain behaviors they don’t like because they think not doing so will lead to something bad happening.
@Matthew1157 "Wouldn't doing something you don't actually want to do because you predict a bad outcome just be a smart thing to do?"
This is implying there would be a bad outcome. If you are a dude and you want to paint your nails or knit, no one literally gives a shit.
"That fear of being a loser and being at the bottom needs to be there to encourage you to not be a loser but become to opposite and it's only after you being to see results to you then have something worthy of feeling confident about."
Eh, I find this to be a naive way to look at things. The issue is that it always makes your actions dependent on fear and spite, so even if you have good outcomes, you really aren't in control of them as much as the people you fear or hold spite to do. This is the issue with the whole "I'll prove them wrong" attitude. It can be effective in the short term, but deadly in the long term.
"And in my opinion if that means you have to be fearful and "insecure" about your position on the hierarchy in order to force yourself to push your limits then so be it."
Except the entire point is that you don't have to. I make YT vids because I really enjoy it, not because I am after people will laugh at me if I don't. While it is true that there seems to be biological precedents as to this, what most people miss is how a particular society will take that variation and extrapolate it vastly. For example, boys may innately be more drawn to say toy trucks and girls to dolls, but then when you put them in a society that exacerbates that, that certain toys are for ONLY boys and girls, we see that rift widen, based not only on biological factors.
"If you get the expresion that these people say too much how man are better than women its because today we are just overwlemed with this feminism and progressivesness which doesnt realy help anyone and there ar ediffernt kinds of women some are the ideal mother and housewife some are the more open and confident type we just dont gotta go to the extreme"
But the answer is to call out those you believe are doing something wrong, not emulate them on the other side to try and balance out the equation in a sense.
I do believe there are some out there who do try to push feminism or progressivism to a ridiculous extent, thus we should call them out... but being just as ridiculous in the opposite direction is a very silly way to go about combating it.

Neomarxism is in part a rejection of postmodern neolib values, which is also something that these "embrace masculinity" videos are critical of. Maybe look into what neomarxism actually is instead of throwing around buzzwords lmao
@@officialmasqq_594 neomarxism seeks to destroy cultural values via critical theory which these fatphobia types have pigeonholed themselves into. Maybe understand the ideology before issuing mindless platitudes? Sure these things go hand in glove with the neoliberal corporatists that want to create people who lost the ability to say no but so do any central planners ie. neomarxists. Although, I do agree that the neoliberal is a loathsome creature, they simply don't have the intellectual capacity or sobriety to come up with something so culturally destructive. They can only ride the wave.
@@drhjhulsebos at its core these anti-fatphobic types are championing the type of self care that neoliberalism seeks to capitalize upon through a "sure why not treat yourself" kind of mentality. "No man should be an amateur in the matter of physical training, it is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable." - Socrates
In the current day and age, we can for the most part live fine without requiring physical strength, so I don't see why people see it as objectively bad to not work out and be really strong and stuff like that. Sure you can work out and be strong if you want to, and if you do want to then that's absolutely fine, but to me it's more of an optional skill that you can learn if you want to (like being good at chess, solving a rubik's cube, being able to jump really high) but you won't normally need in life so it's not absolutely required.
@@thewierdragonbaby4843 Its not just about physical strength to move boulders from A to B.
Its about health, mindset, discipline (not just for gaining but also keeping the body shape). And those things are timeless, even colonialists on Mars will do it. Heck, physical training on space stations is even *mandatory* because otherwise you will get so weak that it will risk your physical health.
You also don't need to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Just prove to yourself that you have the (self)discipline and self-worth to do it. You are also less likely to get common modern-day illnesses like diabetes, high or low blood pressure, low stamina and ofc overweight.

Fatphobia isn't a thing. If it is, its like Cigarette- phobia or Drunk driving phobia.
Unhealthy lifestyle should always be looked down.
Be it a smoker or an obese person.
Facts
There is a difference between saying something it bad whether it being overweight or smoking and shaming someone who is overweight or who smokes. These are two different things that the videos don’t seem to understand.
@@MacabreStorytelling if someone does something bad or unhealthy im going to shame them. i expect people to do the same for me. stride to get better, not stay the same or go backward.
@@abegrable6105 Nah, that doesn’t work. Statistics show positive motivation works infinitely better than negative. Most guys who deny that just like asserting themselves over others. It’s cringe.
@@MacabreStorytelling How are they different. Both are unhealthy lifestyle choices people make.
A smoker who can't quit is the same as an obese person who can't lose weight.
Addictions will always be looked down by the average person , no matter how hard you try to normalise unhealthy lifestyle.
Niggas in comments really do be pretending that Macabre is denouncing lifting and gaining strenght.
Ironically they are being quite emotion and unreasonable... traits they would say are the antithesis of being masculine.

Reject modernity , embrace maculinity 🔱
At the end of the day, I don’t care what these femboys do but I don’t think it should be encouraged to be a feminine man and these videos are mainly to motivate you to become strong and successful
Which plenty of other trends are able to do without putting other men down. These videos just come off as catty and non-masculine.
I don’t think either should be encouraged. Both vids are heavily cringe as fuck. Be who the fuck you want. No one cares bro. I’m sorry but watching “embrace tradition” vids aren’t gonna make you successful. They aren’t. 99% of the men that promote those masculinity vids are fat and haven’t left their internet for years

The thing is being weak and unhealthy and sad isn't the issue . Staying weak unhealthy and sad is....
I agree. The issue is that putting others down does nothing to make you stronger, healthier, and happier.
My man got so triggered about these edits that he’s been responding to every comment, for a year straight- I can’t imagine being so insecure.
Like you?
Like you, dude?
Ironic
Remember seeing what all the lgbtq tictokers would say before they start the video? 'I'll be expressing my beliefs and hobbies and if you don't like it keep scrolling'.
If you don't like what you see, keep scrolling shim.
Also dude got abliterated in the comments on his own vid 🤦♂️
That’s a very weak argument. If something is cringe you should be man enough to call it out.
Do you view a lot of Tik Tok?

Objectively speaking. Masculinity only means having attributes associated with men. If a person were to ask what does it mean to be a man the only correct answer is to be an adult male. Loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, personal courage, or any other quality that a person may associate with masculinity is false. These, I believe, are qualities of a good person regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, or creed.
Observing Macrabe's reactions to opinions that they deem wrong or that insult them appears to consist of emotional and immature reactions. "Lol." "Gey." "Cope." "Cringe." "2 edgi 4 me." Along with deeming anyone who does not wish to "debate" them on their platform (Homefield advantage) to be cowardly. Is strange since they consider themselves to be a man yet act in contradiction to what they consider to be masculine. I understand the difficulty of being respectful in the face of disrespect, but we should rise above and have the discipline to be better, not contribute to unnecessary suffering.
The home field advantage is a complete cop out. It’s always just me and the person I invite on and I am often very charitable with those who do have the courage to come on even though their arguments fall apart under the most basic of scrutiny. As for those who refuse, despite their myriad of excuses, the truth is that they simply don’t have the fortitude to defend or challenge the ideas they hold aka they are ideologues not intellectuals. I have no patience for the former and don’t show them respect as they are not worthy of such. And their opinions are not so much ones that I just believe are wrong but once again don’t hold up to any basic scrutiny. Holding onto your ideas because they make you comfortable regardless of the harm them may cause or plurality of evidence you have to ignore is not worthy of respect. That is a child’s mentality.

@Fenrir Who are you referring to?
@Fenrir That's what I thought you said, I just wasn't sure. But I completely agree. I've literally had "debates" with him in his own goddamn comment section where I consistently got more likes & approval from his own freaking fanbase. Going so far as ppl saying they felt he "exposed" his true nature in the comments & were losing respect for him (which literally made him lose his mind & clearly pissed him off severely).
He's just a typical pseudo-intellectual. I mean, just the mere fact that he refers to himself as such is just ridiculous levels of cringe. All he does is perpetuate scientifically illeterate feminist/woke talking points about men & masculinity & delude himself into believing he's all about "facts".
I remember scrolling through his Twitter fee one time just to be amazed at how hilariously corrupt & out of touch this dude really is. And then he always responds with the same nonsense. "Oh, you're unhinged, oh you're so emotional. Debate me coward! You are so un-masculine for not agreeing to come unto me pissing contest live streams".... "live streams" btw, which he literally said he's used to educate "stupid people" despite giving them "the chance to make their case" or something along those lines. He's a narcissist & a bully & no one with a shred of intellectual honesty would ever take this fraud seriously.
