Great video, thank you. Question: can I simply power off the light switch that controls the light fixture I want to test or do I really need to turn off the circuit breaker? I ask because I want to avoid dismounting the fixture from the wall nor do I want to remove the wiring prior to testing.
We're glad this was helpful! If you're going to test a fixture you need to make sure the power is off to the fixture. The safest way to do this is to turn off the power at the electrical panel.
I think the meter is set for diode testing? Should it be set for resistance instead, unless a meter has a specific setting for continuity? (I like ones that beep. I had to clean the probes on my new meter to get good contact to get a stead beep.)
