Great reaction! Thanks for letting me relive such a great movie that I haven't seen in ages. And a side note, I adore those dogs. I have a nine month old American Bully XL and she reminds me a lot of Drogo, big and soft, but a total goofball. Love brother!
I love Hellboy in large part for Ron Perlman's performance and partly because he kinda comes off as an everyman sort of hero. Like Jay noted, he isn't actually a great fighter, taking more of the Homer Simpson route to victory in that he will just take punishment until he either wears you out or can find a weakness, and he can't really shoot worth a shit, but in both cases when he does finally hit, it tends to be devastating. He's just a guy, doing his job the best he can and that upbringing really sort of acted as an anathema to the destiny he was supposedly created to fulfill. I also like him because he's so utterly dedicated to the love of his life. As arguably dysfunctional as it is, nobody come before Liz in his estimation, with the possible exception of his father. After all, he was willing to burn down all of creation for Liz...but he was willing to restrain that desire only for the memory of his father and the man he tried to mold him into. Ultimately, my only real complaint with the both films (in spite of a number of deviations from the comic, specifically in terms of Big Red and Sparky being an item, which was not part of the source material) is that Hellboy has human legs in the films instead of the goat-like demon legs that he has in the comics. I can only assume that adding that element would have unfairly tapped out the effects budget of the film and they decided not to take that route. Would have loved to have seen that frankly in any of of the movies, but even the David Harbour reimagining didn't go that way, even after nearly 20 years of special effects progression, which is a bit disappointing. (not that I feel like that would have saved that film, but I would have appreciated the effort).
You are unfortunately right about the goat legs - while I think digitigrade stilts had been invented by that point, they're ridiculously dangerous, so there's not really any feasible practical options. CGing in goat legs while the actor moves normally would be incredibly difficult to work around, especially for stunts. As cool as it would be, there's just not a good way to go about it unless you do the whole film animated (which is an option, but one that Hollywood seems to be reluctant to turn to for anything that's not for children). CGI also tends to age badly - the main reason this looks so good is because it's majority practical effects, with minimal CG. And that seems to be the way to go.
Perlman came to my town for a movie and hung out at the local cigar shop. It was weird after watching him play Beast in the TV Show and Hellboy to be pretty slight and not a huge ripped dude. Move magic, I guess.
One of my favorite superhero movies! I wish that they had made a third film in the series, but instead they made a reboot in 2019 that wasn't well received by critics or fans.
Baby Ruths are awesome. Been a fan of them since I could remember. I believe it was due to my mom while pregnant with me. From what I recall she loved Baby Ruth candy bars when she was pregnant with me. Well as for him having one i forgot why beside he liked them and had them along with him on that mission. Actually during WWII a Hershey chocolate bar was a part of military rations (i believe K-Rations mainly). Thet was 4oz bars (nearly 3 current sized Hershey bars). It was part of the ration for 2 main reasons. 1: high energy, 2: for morale boost. It was also small pocket sized and easy to carry.
Baby Ruth is not only the best baseball player named (way better than a Reggie! bar) candy bars, but it's one of the best, period. Arguably better than a Chunky . . . Yeah, I said it.
@5:41 Chocolate was actually a common ration for soldiers during WW2. Baby Ruth is a bit different but ration chocolate was packed with oats and vitamins so it could give you about 600 calories per serving. The sugar gives you a boost of energy too.
Loved your reaction, J! Hellboy and Hellboy 2 are a couple of my favorite flicks, and Hellboy is one of my favorite comic book characters. I can't believe, you being a comic book geek, that you've never read any of the comics. Get thee to a comic book store now and start grabbing some of the trade paperback collections! You'll be glad you did. And I'm sure you'll love creator Mike Mignola's work.
Baby Ruth is fie-yer. I always keep one around in my cadre of king-size quick snacks-Baby Ruth, KitKat, Zero, and Butterfinger. (I might have some black licorice floating around somewhere here, too.)
I've never read the comics, but I think that's the idea. Hellboy gets wailed on and tossed around, but he just keeps going. It's not pretty and there's a ton of property damage, but at least he usually gets results.
Baby ruth Nuts nougat and caramel chocolate covering Pretty good I prefer O. Henry bars...Same thing but it's Fudge nougat, Can't find them in America I have to order them from Canada Amazon... They've been around as long as babe ruth almost

Man, Ron Perlman was born to play Hellboy. He made it very difficult for someone else to play that character. As we've seen. And I like David Harbour. But I don't blame him for the 3rd HB movie. The writing and makeup sunk that film. And J, how can you sit there and say that you've never had a Baby Ruth in your life? I can tell you as a candy bar specialist, they're good. Especially if you freeze them first. I freeze my Snickers and Twix bars too. And I refrigerate my Reese's. And if you get Hostess cakes like Twinkies or Ding Dongs, freeze them too. It changes the texture and the whole game. Give it a try.
Loved your reaction as always. You should watch society of the snow. It's a great movie and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one. If you do watch it I recommend the original language with subtitles, the acting was amazing

Perlman came to my town for a movie and hung out at the local cigar shop. It was weird after watching him play Beast in the TV Show and Hellboy to be pretty slight and not a huge ripped dude. Move magic, I guess.
Miss the beard not gonna lie I thought you were sick for a minute. Good to see you healthy brother. Keep up the great content!
A bonding point for me and my son.
Great movie. I am here for your reactions and commentary during the movie😂😂
One of my favorite superhero movies!
I wish that they had made a third film in the series, but instead they made a reboot in 2019 that wasn't well received by critics or fans.
That’s because it was badly written and the young actor lacked the gravitas of Ron Perlman.
Will someone please get this man a Baby Ruth!
That giant swinging hammer that destroyed the bridge is supposed to be Mjolnir, Thor's hammer. Director commentary explains it.
One of my favorite movies when i was a child.
Yes it's the same song from Scream.
The animated Hellboy movies are worth a watch. Much of the original cast reprises their roles for both animated films.
Great reaction bro! 👍🏿
Didn’t care for this movie the very first time I watched it, but once I was forced to watch it again, I loved it.
The way the comics are drawn is mad crazy
Baby Ruth is fie-yer.
I always keep one around in my cadre of king-size quick snacks-Baby Ruth, KitKat, Zero, and Butterfinger.
(I might have some black licorice floating around somewhere here, too.)
Actually J that was your song from scream. U also hear red right hand in screams version.
J go to literally any gas station and buy a baby ruth come on they are amazing!
I've never read the comics, but I think that's the idea. Hellboy gets wailed on and tossed around, but he just keeps going. It's not pretty and there's a ton of property damage, but at least he usually gets results.
Great movie. I always love your honesty and self-awareness, J. The amount of shit you nope the fuck out of speaks to me. XD ♥
The second one is good too! A lot more creatures and in my opinion a much more interesting villain!
One of my favorite movies! Yay!
I looked on your channel to see if you had watched Deadpool.. I didn't see it
Lol. "Toxic" @ rasputin's intro.
12:39 LMAO "shut up!"
Baby ruth Nuts nougat and caramel chocolate covering Pretty good I prefer O. Henry bars...Same thing but it's Fudge nougat, Can't find them in America I have to order them from Canada Amazon... They've been around as long as babe ruth almost
there wil be "StFu" on the Way ;-)
Appreciate your channel and I've shared it with several other friends and family members I know they have a good sense of humor and will like your reactions. I just started watching so I'm curious as to if you will recognize the guy from alien who had the creature bust out of his chest btw love your pups pal
Awesome reaction of my superhero movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊

Cthulhu in his crystal prison awaits....
Give it a try.
..castle wolfenstine .. 🤔🤷♂️ older video game.. random thought. 👍
Love this movie man
The sequel is pretty good as well
He ain't dead but he in that pit til that gear get off him
The Golden Army stomps
Baby Ruth is lumpy looking chocolate and peanuts, its true power lies in getting the public pool shut down for the rest of the day
Baby Ruth and Snickers are basically the same thing, only the proportions of the ingredients are different.
A Baby Ruth is a Snickers with peanut tumors.
If you like peanuts and carmel, a baby ruth may be for you. I love em
"What the other hole for?"
🤣 too easy.... lol
What Hellboy lacks in grace he makes up you can't kill him
Loved your reaction as always. You should watch society of the snow. It's a great movie and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one. If you do watch it I recommend the original language with subtitles, the acting was amazing
Baby Ruth is only good when there isnt a Snickers or PayDay bar
