I love this free motion pattern you did in the charity quilt. The fabrics are so cheerful and will certainly make someone happy. Thanks Beth. You have a generous heart.
I learn something new from nearly everyone of your videos. Gorgeous quilt that will hopefully find a new home where it will be loved. 🥰 Thanks for taking us with you Beth. 👏👍🇬🇧
Love the irregular patchwork that the previous quilter used to put together her pattern. Your swirl design and backing/binding sets it off perfectly. Good to see the swirl demonstrated for us newbies. Love watching you work. So restful. Nice of the guild to make these quilts for people who need them. Someone will have a lifetime keepsake. Very inspiring.
I love the quilting community for how generous they are. I am one who worries about you not using gloves, must be such strain on your neck and shoulders. My solution to that issue was that I cut the top of the thumb and forefinger off my gloves so I am still able to do things 👍🏻 Keep up the fantastic work and Happy New Year for 2022
That is great that your guild does that. Your quilting is so uniform it almost looks edge to edge. I am so jealous. My quilting does not come out that uniform for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely! One of my favorite patterns for free motion quilting. I practice on paper first, then I use scraps of unbleached muslin and batting to make a quilt top for a pet pillow dog bed that I fill with fabric scraps and stuffing. That way there's no waste and the shelter benefits too ☺️
Workout gloves have open fingers and grippy palms. They are comfortable and effective. I got the idea from seeing a custom glove maker (for quilting) demonstrate the gloves. I was in Tuesday Morning and saw workout gloves and decided to experiment. Working from the palm and getting off the fingertips reduced strain. I gave it a try this weekend. Very comfortable and complete finger freedom. Wrist closure also provided hand support.
That’s a very happy quilt and your quilting really sets it off. I just wish I could get my stitches as beautiful as yours. I end up with eyelashes every time I fm and just cannot get the rhythm my little brother machine requires for regular stitches. So I just straight line quilt.
Thank you for your tutorials. I am looking at lower priced (under $1000) sewing machines that will allow me to free stitch my own tops and have watched a lot of videos on this machine you used. I'm very nervous if I can do it and really appreciate your encouragement.
Beautiful flowers, colors and Idea! Someone is gonna be sooooo thrilled to have that! Made with LOVE! Everything has a place, kindness the great gift! Enjoy your day , what a nice beginning! Lis
Another beauty! Thanks Beth. Wanted to voice my opinion if that’s ok. I agree whole heartedly that quilting gloves most definitely help with the fmq however I originally started with the cheaper gardening gloves and although they did work better then not wearing gloves - IMO- there isn’t any comparison between actual quilting gloves and gardening gloves. The gardening gloves are not nearly as comfortable nor do the fit “like a glove” to your hands. I found them cumbersome. For the price of the fmq gloves the cost increase is really very little. It is very possible to purchase actual quilting gloves for under $10. I also tend to add on an extra pair of fmq gloves when placing an order and just need a few more dollars to be eligible for free shipping 😘. I don’t know if you have had the opportunity to try the actual quilting gloves- but if not, you may really like them and not find them as annoying and cumbersome. Loved your video and sew enjoy your channel !
Beth im wondering why you dont do a fold over binding from the backing. It looks like you have enough on most of your quilts. Inside im saying No! Dont cut it off, Beth!😊 Love all your quilting videos. And you always serm to "make do". We coukd all learn so much from you! Keep up the good work! Bless you and Happy Easter 🐰🐣💐😊
Hello, I want to say thank you for the ways to do free motion quilting at home ,but also how you get the information for the place you mentioned to do the quilting for charity t
Quilting guilds are the place to begin if you’re looking for a place to donate for charity. There is also an organization called project Linus. Happy sewing
You can. You have to develop muscle memory. There is a series called Quilting with Jeanne. You can find on RUclips. She does one poppy design that is all over and easy to do. Take a look. Consider thrift store sheets to make practice sandwich.
@@notesfromleisa-land Thank you so much for the suggestions. I think I have been intimidated by others ease of use. I will look up the quilting series.
@@francesnesbitt8825 Lots of videos out there to be sure--none a substitute for our getting out there and doing it ourselves. Don't underestimate the power of doodling your design too as demonstrated. So many good videos. Really the hardest part is maneuvering the @#$%$@%^%^&* quilt on a regular domestic!
I love this one! I’m going to practice it! When you start in the middle do you stitch in rows or go around in a circle. Thank you for demonstrating this. Love your videos. 🇦🇺❤️
@@bethshibleyquilts I basted my quilt on my design wall for the first time this weekend. I use homemade basting spray or fusible web. I bought basting spray for first time. The dreaded chore was much easier. I have a 96 by 96 design wall. I will use this method for all future quilts. I used June tailor basting spray (requires cotton everything to was out). Great price point and effective.
When you are doing your binding, at 7:28-29, you do it differently than I have seen before. It looks like you fold the first sewn end at a 45 angle, then tuck the last end into it and finish attaching it. Then you do the front. Is that all there is to it?
On a busy pattern like that how do you see where you're going or where you've been? I still have to draw out my patterns on the fabric but I hit points where I can't see where the line is or where I need to go.
I have my gloves just learned how to motion quilt on my machine. Love the designs ty
Love your videos, I could sit and what you quilt for hours, with the music you choose it is so relaxing
Very creative!
Wow!
Even the back of quilt was pretty.
Thank you Beth! You are an inspiration!
Bright and beautiful. Sure to bring a smile to the lucky recipient.

it is always nice to sew with friends 💌 Thanks Beth
What a gift for a person in the hospital or in need to receive a quilt made with hands and love! ❤️ beautiful
Thanks Beth, so relaxing watching you. That’s also my go-to for quilting, and I find quite therapeutic 😄 Your music is lovely too. 💖🇦🇺

A pretty quilting design. Thank you for sharing. 🤗

Beautiful quilting Beth! It’s so kind of your Guild to make quilts for those in need.
This is a cool quilting design!
This was a great simple all over design. I'm going to practice this as an alternative to the loops I usually do.
Good job 👍 looks great on the back as well.❤️
Such a lovely quilting design! Thanks for sharing!
Nice job Beth, I can’t quit master this yet. Hopefully in time.
Great job with your new doodle. You make it look so easy. Beautiful quilt will be treasured by the recipient.❤🇦🇺
Love your videos
Hello Beth nice pattern on this quilt thanks for sharing.
This is an awesome pattern…I will try to practice it as you recommended Beth🪡🔆✂️🧵❤️

No shame in straight line quilting.

Thank you for info!
The quilt pattern looks like Turning Twenty by Tricia Cribbs. I have a Turning Twenty Again quilt hanging in my living room.
If you need to, cutting the tips of the thumb and index of the glove on your dominant hand will help with needle threading.
Not for the expensive gloves though.....
It is beautiful
Beautiful
Thanks for sharing this great pattern. I also belong to a guild that gives members kits to put together and quilt. I will give this pattern a try!

If you get gardening gloves, make sure your fingers reach all the way to the top 🤭 I have sewn a pair or two on a quilt by accident... 🤣🤣
I love this one! I’m going to practice it! When you start in the middle do you stitch in rows or go around in a circle. Thank you for demonstrating this. Love your videos. 🇦🇺❤️
On this quilt I worked around the center just like I did with the pen and paper at the beginning of video.
Hello Beth, I love 😍how you put your quilts together. I must ask you, do you use basting spray. Thanks 😊 have a good day
Yes...I almost always use quilting spray. Happy sewing!

Yes👌
Very nice!! Does the tension need to be adjusted? My practice free motion has spots of “eye lashes.” Am I moving the fabric too fast?
I don’t adjust tension
It’s hard to diagnose your problem. Sorry
💝👍🥰 Chris
Would it be easier to quilt on the solid side? Less busy? I’m just a beginner!!!
For me....it’s easier to quilt on top of the quilt top....not the backing. Maybe someone else will chime in. 😉
Did you spray baste? Which kind of batting did you use?
I used 505 basting spray on this
On a busy pattern like that how do you see where you're going or where you've been? I still have to draw out my patterns on the fabric but I hit points where I can't see where the line is or where I need to go.
I have to stop every now and then to see where I’m going. 👍
Do you have to adjust your tension much when you FMQ?
Usually no. Every machine has it’s own “temperment”.
Do u start quilting in the centre,❤
typically yes
