A ton of confused people in the comments. The E60 M5 makes 500HP to the CRANK from factory. We used a dyno to measure my M5's power at the WHEELS (Not crank). If you factor in drivetrain loss, my M5 is probably making around 550HP+ to the crank. Hope that clears things up.
It should still pull 400+ hp at wheels.

Sorry but I disagree I think it’s known to be the standard in the German big sedan for a while . There’s so many videos of ii, drag racing and doing pulls against a lot of other big German sedans. There’s so much coverage on RUclips of this platform , and here in la/lbc there’s actually quite a bit , a few of the reasons I became disinterested in getting one.
I test drive one and was t impressed personally just too little torque and sounded like an infinity g35 from inside the cabin

criminally underrated? Its literally the most known fucking engine platfrom. When you ask any bimmer guy whats your favourite engine the first answer that comes up is "S85". A criminally underrated German big engine would be the 5.5 NA V8 in the early 2006-2012 Mercs, CL500,S500,CLS500, E500. They get absolutely no coverage when its one of if not the most bulletproof Merc NA V8 .

One of my buddies got a manual e60 m5 a few years back. He’s put so much money into it that he could’ve bought an f80 like me in the end lol. But when it runs it’s amazing. Everytime I get to putt around in it I wish I had the money to maintain and purchase one myself. 😂

I own a BMW M6 V10, it had 545hp on the dyno after a tune up. When i installed a Straightpipe it dropped around 50hp, although it sounds phenomenal it lost power
You need to retune it for exhaust and you will actually gain power.

Needs Hartge classic II wheels , a Hamann front lip , Dinmann rear diffuser , Hartge boot spoiler , stock LCI Headlights also someone should really really consider trying to figure out how to code and make a F10 M5 guage cluster work in a E60 M5 doesn't matter if it'll need a piggyback so it makes the car think it's on a stock guage cluster , also someone should really consider trying to make a F10 M6 infotainment system work on a E60 M5 and make it be a replaceable part to the OEM infotainment there's a market for these things and people aren't hopping on it kinda weird most people wanna upgrade the cluster but not these gimmicky ones people want stock looking clusters to fit their cars imagine how perfect a F10 cluster and infotainment would look in a E60 M5 both in E60 stock location
Also i would like to add people should stop talking shit about the S65 and S85 being unreliable because it's not with regular maintenance these cars take the abuse up untill it's major engine rebuild which takes a very very long time to come when you service the car way way before the recommended times these cars are like F1 cars not meant to be daily drivers meant to be driven at the limiter for all those laps then after gets a engine rebuild or a new engine these cars literally have engines built to go racing it was never meant to be a be put in a road car people should be happy BMW decided to put these engines into these cars , also these cars get horrible reviews because of Americans because nobody else in the world would you see probably countless S65 and S85 motors being sold because the car it was in was written off or in a wreck nowhere else will you see E9x M3's or E60 M5's at junkyards maybe you'd see one or two but i guarentee in America there's a gigantic amount being left to rot being crushed getting just treated horrifically via the owners of these cars you americans can't look after things it's very apparent you people literally got 5000 VW Golf 5 R32's and the only place I've seen horrible ones are in america the only place I've seen people treat them like normal cars are in america the only place I've seen them with rust is america , America is literally filled with pieces of garbage called americans

For the people talking about 478 to the wheel do you realise that RWD has around 25 28% loss from crank to the wheels? Which in simple math means this 15 year old car pushes with mods tho almost 590 on the engine at worst.

Not sure the model. But they are ESR wheels.
Was it in M mode because E60 is meant to make 507HP stock so I expected it to be ore than stock not less than stock considering the mods.
This run is measured at the wheels not crank.

How come the e60 has suck lil torque?
Because it has more revs. High revving engines must have lower torque than lower reving engines with same HP. HP is final number that respresents its power/acceleration and is calculated from revs and torque. Horsepower (HP) = (Torque × RPM) / 5252. Dont look on torque on cars, HP is what matters and cars are geared for staying in peak HP zone. TORQUE = DAMAGE PER HIT, REVS = HITS PER MINUTE, HP = TOTAL DAMAGE. Do you understand now?

Well the good news, putting it through the calculator that means your 458hp to the wheel should be an estimated 564BHP.

@@alexwalsh31 acceleration on the E60 M5 is more enjoyable because it's linear and because of the high RMP redline. Obviously the M5 packs more of a punch because it's immediate torque.
