I heard about the new JHS Packrat pedal and the first thing I thought was... 'I wonder how Shawn will demo this pedal.' 🤔 And then there you were. It's a wonderful day 🙂
I have the Bonsai and the Muffeletta so I guess I'm gonna have to get this one too now. Seriously, these multi-version pedals are really great for the small studio trying to offer the most tones for the money.
Shawn. You have rejuvenated my appreciation of progressive rock. I mean really. Love your groove , style and control. I am still struggling to get my speed. Would come to Nashville for a quick lesson or zoom with you $$$. If available . Thanks for what you do and share with us players. Keep on jamming. When your touring starts, will Miss these videos.
Thanks very much for the kind words and I'm glad you're being inspired. I don't do in-person lessons but I do have a lesson pack with sound slice if you'd like to check it out. www.soundslice.com/store/demolition-guided-tour/
Some other demos don't do a RAT type pedal justice but this is one the best I have seen. There is a sweet spot on the filter knob for all guitar/amp combinations with a RAT and this is a superb demonstration of how it sounds when it's setup well and you have a bit of ambiance (I am not too fond of the super dry demos, it's very rare for a recorded guitar tone to have zero reverb or delay)
Okay Shawn. This tack is so f…….. killer. It just grooves. Love the stereo spread of the guitar parts. I am definitely sold on this pedal. It is a must have for Christmas. Gigs are starting to pick up😀😀😀😀😀🎸🎸🎸🎸 I got to have this pedal. So many tonal options that sound amazing. Thanks for the video. Cheers
nice, mine should be here this week, for now i listen to you..i tried to get a vintage rat off ebay but got ripped off..100 bucks..found the rat on my pod xt years ago and fell in love, i'm all about the og but some of the new ones could be cool too, can't wait thanks eh.
Thanks for another good video The “ TRB “ means trouble No I’m just kidding TRB means turbo Thanks for talking us through it Some Demos they don’t speak
Awesome Thanks Shawn, Did you tell us what amp and how the amp was set ( clean , dirty , high headroom, etc. ) I really like this pedal into a Marshall JCM 800 type circuit on the edge of or lightly breaking up Thanks , love your demos, playing , personality . ..what amp though.. peace , love
The rodent has been on a walk about. Looks like Josh has popped one out of the park on this one. Gain is nice and stable through the circle, I have never dipped into the rat, thanks for the deep dive Mr Tubbs! Might be time for a friend to the tube driver!
it's very hard to find a distortion that doesn't have a fuzz behind it still think the jackhammer and govnor are the best dist overdrive to be the best nice vid though
I bought that guitar back when I was touring with Carrie Underwood to cover a song in the set. I think for the money it's pretty hard to beat in that right out of the box the way it plays and intonates is spot on. If you're going for more of a "vintage" baritone thing this guitar may not be right for you. A Jerry Jones or something along those lines might be better.
This is about inane, but I just clicked thumb-up number 300 on the last video I watched, Phil McKnight playing the Crush 120, then I got here and posted thumb-up number 301. 🤔not so extraordinary but surreal, almost.
This might be a cool pedal, but its made by a youtuber, not a pedalmaker. If someday JHS wants to make pedals again, instead of dumb youtube videos, maybe I will purchase something from him.
@@RyTheFly Hey not interested in a dude who is cheating on his wife with a 20 something or younger musician, and making pedals about young female musicians he is fliriting with. Because THATS accountable right?
love those Scott Henderson runs on the Tyler!

I love this pedal because it seems to capture Josh’s sense of humor really well. 😂 Great video!
...lovely, purposeful playing!
Pedal sounds (and looks) awesome; killer intro track and playing!
Have played and loved rats for 35+ years. I really want one of these. This would cover any amp.
Shawn, besides the fact the pedal sounds really good that track is also a really good groove just amazing,Great playing and video and as always!!!
Thanks very much!

As always, your playing is kicking my ass and making great use of a killer little pedal. I May have to grab one.
Thanks so much, Stephen! I hope you're doing well!
Always have my RAT 2 on the board :)
Lovely tone and playing 👍
O M G. So damn great! Also, the pedal is pretty awesome, too.
Your overall perspective and thoughts on the individual sounds were gee at

Amazing review!!! (I really love your new space). Thank you Swan. Mordi.
Thanks Mordi!!
Damn bro that's some serious Jeff Beck tone Great playing....I think he used to use one Great demo Thanks
Thanks very much!!
When I saw him on the there and back tour he had a big box ( OG )rat on his board..
you are correct
Not only cats, but rats have nine lives too now...!!
Nice Comment!! ;>
You’ve probably gotten this question a lot, but you gotta tell me about the experience playing with the STP on their unplugged.
It was certainly one of the best experiences of my life!
Man, Dean has good taste in guitar players.
Shawn that some classic you my guitar brotha! Noice!
Oh , you did say ..!!!$& my bad
Amp clean , pedal doing all the work
This pedal is tits for anything like punk, blues, heavy rock, hell even country. Defiantly getting this after this review
Really missed the boat on calling that a Rodentry Knob for the modes.
Ha! I did indeed miss that boat.
FYI.....Shawn uses King of Tone shampoo and Divided by 13 Conditioner. You don't get session work on great chops alone.
Thanks for another good video
The “ TRB “ means trouble
No I’m just kidding
TRB means turbo
Thanks for talking us through it
Some Demos they don’t speak
This pedal would be perfect if it was just the two or three early ones and the JHS modd with a 2 stackable function
I was thinking the same it's almost overkill... Or is it?
Awesome
Thanks Shawn,
Did you tell us what amp and how the amp was set
( clean , dirty , high headroom, etc. )
I really like this pedal into a Marshall JCM 800 type circuit on the edge of or lightly breaking up

That was my Suhr Bella dialed clean.

Shawn had contractors doubling the size of the room while the curtains were up. What sorcery
Haha!
🔥🔥🔥
What was the amp used in this demo ? I liked the OG setting
Thanks for watching. I used my Suhr Bella.
Are you in the new place?
Hey Chris! Yeah, we're all moved in.
Tasty!
Love the Intro riff,,,alot can be done with one 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Stranger things vibe!

Hey Shawn, Did i see you used a PRS Baritone in the clip? How do you like that guitar? I'm looking at getting a Baritone myself!

@@ShawnTubbs Thanks for the reply Shawn… Prob wouldn’t do the spaghetti western thing then ? 😂
@@lukedavismusic Yeah, I would do with a Dan Electro or something along those lines for sure.
Sloppy? Where is the sloppy playing that your saying on 5:23? 😂😂 you are absolute pro pro!
Was the name Ratking taken as gross as those are it seems like the perfect name for a multi rat?
How does ones tail get tied to another’s?? 😳
Yeah probably some copy write stuff
Is it a noisy pedal ?
Rat pedals in general tend to have a bit of noise floor but I didn't find the JHS to be overly noisy.
@@ShawnTubbs Thanks , Shwan !
If I was gay, I would def have a crush on Shawn! The pedal is dope
You coming out bro? Sounds like you're pretty gay 😂
@@drjay927 not today 😏
"sloppy playing" lol, good joke!

Rat of Pack.. Cool. Like a six pack of Rat.. Imbibe the rodent!
Get rid of the shitty PRS and everything would sound better.
Wut?
Oh c'mon now!! I love that guitar but it's to each his or her own.
I love that you use lots of different guitars , not just a Gibson and a fender., plus it’s says a lot about your versatility

I'd like to hear a discussion between you and Josh about pedal making, circuitry on his RUclips channel. See what you have to bring to the table...🤣

Ok somebody besides me loves Jeff Beck.
