- The video in full. As I've said before, between me and A&M we managed to cock up the styling, and I might have been better shooting all against green screen instead of wafting a terrified Patty around fifty feet in the air on a cherry picker....but watching this for the first time in years, I kind of like it again. I love the infra-red stuff.
Anyway, go and look Patty up. She's fantastic, and the album "Living With Ghosts" is one that becomes a big feature of your life once you've discovered it.
Another thing: you might be puzzled by the "winter room". That is a reference which came from a line in the album version. I made it the centrepiece of the video, only for the record company to subsequently do a radio edit, which cut that verse.
That's the crazy world of popvideoland. Видеоклипы
it just doesn't matter how many times i listen to this album ..... every single track still knocks me down with the rawness and power of her vocals.... ANYTHING by this artist will amaze you but this debut album is STILL my favorite since it released waaaaaay back when
Still, 15 years later, one of the best numbers I have ever seen and heard by the amazing Patty Griffin
The chord progression right from the very beginning is downright cool. I can also feel the utter frustration this song evokes. Patty's brilliant. All soul, that one.
This is the first song I ever heard by Patty that made me sit up and go "Who the hell is that amazing woman?!" Freaking brilliant!
She played at my store in Atlanta with Jann Arden and Billy Mann when this album first came out. She was the opener and blew everyone else away. I've been a fan ever since.
Living with Ghosts is one of my favorite CDs ever.
Patty Griffin has to be the most powerful voice in women's music today, and "Living With Ghosts" is far and away my favorite of her albums, followed closely by "A Kiss In Time". I keep coming back to "Ghosts" for its power and purity, with just Patty and her guitar. So many great tracks here, my favorites being Forgiveness with that great little Hendrix like riff, Poor Man's House, Time Will Do The Talking... Hell, they're all great. Hope to see her live someday soon.
First heard Patty in 1996. Every time I hear her voice it brings me back to times of good friends, good wine and a wonderful time in Sharpsburg, GA.
I remember seeing Patty many, many years ago, when she still had beautiful natural red hair.
It's great to see her so well known now,I really love her music!!
I only discovered Patty last summer when I heard Kelly Clarkson mention her and now I'm a huge fan. It's been something of a nightmare trying to get all her cds (I'm in Ireland), but now I'm awaiting the arrival of Children Running Through :) Her stuff is so inspiring it's ridiculous. Roll on a world tour!
This is the radio edit, living with ghosts is a masterpiece.....and thats an understatement
This is actually the video edit. The radio version that went out from the label is actually a full band recording. Most stations just played the album version instead
That's my favorite line too!!! Patty Griffin is a Goddess of Lyrics and Music.
Great memories of my kids playing guitar and singing this song......You are the most fabulous singer/songwriter!!!!
I fell in love the first time I heard her sing, and what I love about her is her music is real and has nothing to do with sex and shaking bootie, god i'm so sick of that shit, We need more of this type of music. Every person I have let know about her music, love it too. :)
I remember when the song was released and where I was when I heard it. I was sitting I. The grocery store parking lot high.
Heard this on WXPN driving around Philly sometime in the winter of 1996. I took an immediate detour to the nearest Tower Records to buy the CD. I don't think it left my player for two months.
She is a national treasure. More people need to know.
Freakin' amazing! Thanks for the post!
I just LOVE this!!
Patty where have you been all my life. What an excellent song.
Real emotion here! Nothing is forced! I love Patty, she's so real, nothing pretentious about her!
When she sings it's like when she talks to you: her and you almost have a conversation!
One of the very best. Unique. Special. She has so much good stuff.
I saw her in LA with Billy Mann and Jann Arden as well...huge fan ever since as well!
Awesome song! Sends chills down my spine! Brings back memories of L.A.'s Finest Rock, 101.9!
I have found my new love. She passed Sheryl Crow on my goddess list. So glad I got introduced. She moves me and her lyrics are all the things I've felt. Like she wrote it for me personally. SALUTE
I wrote most of them, fairly surely not dispensation if some other guys story…if not always exclusively mine…?
@@ronaldjaybelin520 ok?? Not sure exactly how to take that but ok.
“Of some other guy’s story” should have read…anyone can adopt a scenario, I lived these 3 or 5
Yes, and she makes them music
“If I am able in all of my travels to make these memories quit “ is a favorite jumble of mine= I really don’t see Patti pulling up roots and hitting the road to stop memories …but she tells the story so convincingly.
love this
I just love this song! So glad I found Patty Griffin. Thanks to Pandora!
pretty sick, its refreshing to see videos that aren't sucky and shallow like everything thats popular now
This entire album is more than just music - it's an experience. You may think I'm cheesy or sentimental (and I probably am) but get it and try to disagree. That said - I keep watching for someone to put up "Forgiveness"....
THANK YOU.
love this song!!!
I love this song!
chills
Well, let's hope that Children Running Through is the album that launches Patty properly into the conciousness of the huge International audience she deserves.
I love you, Patty.
She still needs to release the radio version of this so that people can buy it and stream it
I think I could listen tot his song for the rest of my life...
She has now past Sheryl Crow on my Goddess list. Wow, I'm so glad I was introduced. She moves me.
luv you patty!!
this song is my favourite one!
EVERY FUCKING LITTLE BIT
well done.
If that voice does not make the hair stand up on the back of your neck... you better check if you still have a pulse.
This was the only video made for that album, and it was never released. "Forgiveness" is a blinding song that conjures a video up in my head every time I hear it. Some day, when I have the dough,I might just make that video anyway.
There's still time! :)
Forgiveness doesn’t hold much back it’s true
Genius
My storyline
I second that. No hiding we've all lived our own versions of these songs. Forgiveness provides balance...maybe 'frame' is a better word to Every Little Bit so you don't drive yourself crazy.
(So yeah, no rush or anything!)
patty rocks my socks off.. look up shawn irwin harmonica. you'll love him. it's amazing
I lovw her music. Every bit of ¡T !?¿
what happened to the line.."you never got within a 100 million miles of my soul?" This isn't the album version right? I'm confused. That's my favorite line of Patty's and it's not in this song...am I wrong?????
wording is different than on cd.
Just one spot.
You and me both
I can never understand her lyrics!! What does it all mean?
Weirdly, it's my least favourite on the album, but then the other songs are all of such high class, that it's no slurr.
I'm not a female, but I know that this song is about a one night stand.
will a female in the crowd give a male some insight into this song? i think i know, but i'm curious what you all think. thanks.
now that she has passed its not so nice
liam boehne She died?
JoshDone No she didn't!
this song is my favourite one!
?¿!
