About a decade ago I worked for an AD that carried Rolex, Patek Philippe , Breitling and a few others. There was an Emergency in the case. I thought it was a cool watch. I was always a little nervous to mess with it. I had an irrational fear of setting off the homing beacon. I imagined emergency response teams busting through the glass windows of the jewelry store.
I own an Emergency Mission Black Dial, and use it while flying either as PIC or when traveling and boating. It is a tool, I know how to use it properly and am glad I have it.
This is one cool watch. FYI to save you time looking up the price, It's $15K for the model II & up depending on design. The used price is $3K to 10K used depending on model I or II. The model I will actually still work from my cursory read of one article. However, they have updated the watch to a higher frequency that allows for more precise information, and this is the current main frequency used for rescue operations. All this info is garnered from a quick look on Google just to give an idea of what the watch will cost you, and what it does. If serious, I suggest you read up yourself for more verifiable info. ✌
This watch would be perfect if it had a stronger water resistance toqualify as the ultimate tool watch : 200m would be nice. one more question : Once the antenna are used can they be put back ?
As Mark said, it's free of charge to put it back into service providing it was used in a real emergency and you tell them your story and give them permission to use your story in future marketing if they need to. You also get a free servicing of the watch, new warranty and if the watch is beyond repair they will replace it with like for like also for free. Pretty good deal if you ask me.
Ok, fair point. This is cool. But, working from a desk, I dont think i'd ever use it. I wish I was the kind of person who would find this useful though!
I have the first model in black. It is thicker than I would like and very expensive to have the batteries replaced. I kinda wish Breithling had a exchange program for the one that works on the new freq.
I have always thought this was a good looking watch. If you know does the emergency one frequency still work if you bought a used one or are they only using the emergency two for the signal now?
Just so everyone knows, There's a plastic seal on the antenna crown. If that's broken Breitling will void the warranty and likely bill you for a replacement antenna. so no touching the forbidden screwcap.
@@CrownandCaliber I watched your last 3 watch collection video and it made me think of what I would pick. I always thought it would be a great formal/evening watch.
Sir Richard Branson's Breitling Emergency worn by Steve Fosset on his record breaking flight in Virgin Atlantic Global Flyer was up for sale on E-Bay. All proceeds went to the eye charity ORBIS. Not sure what sold for .... interesting though ..... so bought one for my eight year old - he often gets lost on way to school ...... joke

I thought it had to be registered after purchase to activate
@@soulure you might be right. I just remembered being told not to unscrew the antenna. Then ofcourse that's all I could think about when I saw it.

When your kid decides to pull the crawn out at home and the emergency team leaves you with a $20k bill.... Worth it.

The UK Top Gear TV show did an episode with this watch which Richard used when lost in the US snow.
I completely forgot about that, will have to go re-watch that episode. -Mark
It’s so cool, I have 3 of them.
Amazing. I’m looking for my first and only one. Which one is the higher end? Thx…. I like the emergency 2
Hidden. Emergency. HAHA. I see what you did there.
Great video as always!
You took a sip!!
took the first sip on camera, not the first sip taken -Mark
@@CrownandCaliber HAHAHA
Excellent video. I was curious about this watch and how it worked.
Respect for Breitling

Breitling does it free of charge if it was used in a real emergency situation.

You did it again. I see the watch and think, "Ahhh, nahh. I know about that watch and it is NOT that cool." and then you prove me wrong.
Wow! Impressive tool watch! Good to know that something like this exists. Thank for sharing this info!
Thank you for watching - Mark
Hopefully, Boba Fett activated his Breitling when he was eaten by that darn Sarlacc thing.
Probably how he survived and went on to help baby Yoda. -Mark
@@CrownandCaliber (Spoiler) Its how Luke found them to rescue baby Yoda!
When the antennas are pulled out is it still WR?

I was always interested in this watch but does something happen if i activate the antenna at home?
A team will come looking for you, and then will leave you with a rather large bill, please only activate if truly in need of rescue. -Mark
Always been fascinated by this watch!!
Cheers mark mate - really enjoyed this !!!! 🥃
Than you, happy you enjoyed it! - Mark
Great storytelling!! Thanks!!

Basil Haydens in the back :-D
Good eye, that spot on the tray changes with what is in the glass. -Mark

The Emergency 1 signal is still monitored inside the U.S. just always make sure to change the battery when needed. - Mark
So cool, wish my wrist where big enough to wear one.

I would like to suggest a Rolex Caliber 5443/9 for hidden gems. It's a favorite of mine and most people probably don't know it exists.
That is an odd ball in the Rolex lineup, I will have to do some research on it, thank you for pointing it out. -Mark

I would spend all day thinking about pulling out the antenna just to see what’d happen.
Breitling says it's only waterproof to 50m. You should correct that in your video.
The emergency mission is 200m water resistant.
The first titanium version is 30m and the emergency II is 50m
@@markolachapelle9489 The Ememgency Mission depth rating is 100m, not 200m.
i am selling one whit avrything box and papers love the watch
I need this when I go to Afghanistan to fight the Nephs
