Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester - 200 Years of the Bus: Fares Please - Heritage Bus Runs

My visit to the Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester in Cheetham Hill to the '200 Years of the Bus' event on Saturday 1st June 2024.
In 1824, Salford toll keeper John Greenwood started a horse bus service between Pendleton and Manchester, five years before anything similar happened in London. This event celebrates the 1940s and the 1950s with heritage buses running between the museum and Manchester city centre and to Belle Vue running along part of the original number 53 route.

Nostalgia is a funny thing, we drive our new cars to travel on buses we couldn’t wait to get rid of when we got a car.

very true - although my car is 20 years old so probably not far off vintage! But the same with life. As teenagers we desperately want to be adults and then when we become adults we want to be teenagers again.
