I put new tires on my Rhino and one was leaking. Purchased a different brand from AutoZone for $13 that has the same warning, “for professional use only.” Followed your directions and it worked perfectly. Still at the same psi a week later. You saved me $150. I was in the process of purchasing a new rim. I thought the rim was bent. Wish they sold smaller cans. I have enough to last two of my lifetimes.
Just had to do this recently. Damn 2019 Civic and their rims. Had 3 tires that developed leaks at the rim. Had to fill them up once every two weeks. But in the winter, it was like once every 3 days because of the cold temps. Didn't have the tools to do it myself so I brought it to my Uncle's garage. Once they sealed the rims, no more slow leak. Treads were still good so it saved me a few hundred bucks on new tires for another year or two.
Well a metric crap ton of Grease and a 3-in ratchet strap later and I'm going to the auto parts store to pick up some of this bead sealer. My riding mower tire resisted both of those attempts hopefully your tip works, thank you for making this video sir
Good tip, next time I have to do tires on either my families utility trailer, or yard equipment, I plan to go buy irons and do my own tires. The local chain tire shop charged me more than buying new wheels would have cost when I had the utility trailer tires done. I will just do them myself next time, and save the money.
It’s getting pretty expensive. If you have that manual tire changer from HF, and are a little practiced, you could probably do tires faster than the shop will do it and (in my area) it’ll save you $25/tire. So an extra $100 in mounting fees at least.
We always took tires up no more than double the rated PSI to set the bead and then brought it back down to operating pressure. That’s the way I was taught anyway.
Chassis grease works better in my opinion and it doesn't create more cleanup work the next time you have to dismount the tire. It seals and helps prevent rusting. Been doing it on car / pickup tires as well. It also prevents aluminum wheels from corrosion associated with road salt. I have heard people say that "Petroleum based products deteriorate the rubber". I call BS on that. I have been using grease for over 20 years now and have dismounted tires several years later and the rubber was perfectly fine. May not be "right" according to the armchair quarterbacks who tend to comment on things they have no experience with but I can say that it works great for me and all my friends and neighbors I do tire work for in my personal shop.
If I do this and let's say it doesn't stop the leak and I have to replace the rims, would the tires be damaged or not able to go on new rims cause of the paste? I got my tires replaced and now it's leaking and Discount Tire is telling me a need new rims. I want to try this. Also I am talking about on a car not tractor or anything.
Had the same problem. Installed brand new tires 11 x 4.00 - 5 and they are real tiny after a few days I noticed it was real low. Pumped it to 40psi and checked it for leaks. The leaks were only on the back side and they were really micro bubbles it looked like foam after awhile. I pulled out my rubber mallet and beat it silly everywhere around the tire giving the leaky area special attention, Checked the pressure still at 40psi and checked it for leaks. Wellah! But if I have a more serious leak I'll keep your tar paint in mind. Thanks for putting this up!
I just bought used tires and the edge is torn and can't put air in. Does this solidify in some way to fill the edge that was torned? Thanks I khave used for mags that were leaking.
Would this help to seat the bead in the first place? I can’t tell if my bead is seated, never heard a pop but it looks good to the eye. Sprayed some soapy water and found that air was leaking around the rim.
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects I have a little bit bigger tire, like bigger than this one but smaller than a car tire. I have bead sealer from when I fixed a little caster wheel but I don't have any way to break the bead on a tire that size, I didn't think it would work without breaking the bead

Life saver. I was ready to spend 125 for a new rim and tire. 14.00 15 minutes and good to go
Thanks man.

Thanks for watching. Glad it could help.
Good tip, Derek. I remember this greenish crap we used when mounting tires at a service station I worked at years ago, probably the same thing.

You put 30 psi in a 15 psi tire! You definitely worked in a tire shop lol! I am afraid to do that because I am afraid the tire will blow off the rim.

Worked great! Used the same stuff on my tire after watching video and no more leaks. Thank you

I didn't think this was possible without breaking the bead first ... I will certainly give it a try.
Hi I just put new Michelin tires on my motorcycle, and its leaking. I have a a bead buster and extra seal. Thanks for your tip.

Thanks for the video, saved me from bringing a riding mower tire in for repair.
Thanks for watching!
What will it be like in the future if I have to change the tire?
Will it be difficult?
Does it ruin the rim like fix a flat etc. also is it possible to get the tire off in the future if needed? I want to evaluate this vs a tube
Doesn’t ruin a rim. It’s possible to get the tire off in the future, yes.
How long does it last
Good info.. my guy reseals my one rim once a year or so… I’ll tell him to use that . Thanks

Thanks Derek for letting everyone know you have a wife who bought you the sealant....😅
Thanks for this option I was unaware of it. My tiller is bubbling basically all way around seal on both sides.
If bead sealer doesnt work for you can add green grease also it'll work thank me later
Would this help to seat the bead in the first place? I can’t tell if my bead is seated, never heard a pop but it looks good to the eye. Sprayed some soapy water and found that air was leaking around the rim.
Also, what’s the difference between doing this and inserting sealant into the tube with a syringe?
Thank you!!!! Fixed my issue and got the lawn mowed
Why do you need to remove the valve
You don’t have to, it just keeps air from being a problem with breaking to tire down.
You can do this without breaking the bead?
Breakin the bead is preferable.

Great info, I didn't know this product existed
I only do from working at a tire shop. Thanks for watching.
can i use this on a car tire?
Yes. Everything at your own risk though!
Not me watching w/ my eyes squinted thinking the overinflated tire will blow up. Lol
You mention the product, but didnt put the name or link in the description. That would help to people with english as second language
I apologize, here is a link - amzn.to/3e9sbZG

Thank you!
Works great
My wife gave me a rim job. It didn't fix the leak but it sure felt good.
was it schloopy?
I bet you leaked even more...
will this work on a solid tire?
Solid tires don't have leaks.
Thanks!
is it a permanent fix ?!
.......or can i separate the rim & tyre later on if i want to ?!
Definitely can separate them. Its not like its a glue. Just a sealant more like it.
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects thxs
Inner tube ..problem solved
Actually a good idea 😎
Thanks man!
use honey?
That’s a sloppy job didn’t even wire Brush the rim or Brush off the bead of the tire 1-10 1 is for trying. I would pay money to see you mount a tire .
That was a brand new tire on a freshly painted rim. Cleaning the tire and rim was already done when I mounted the tire.
Why are you so rude man you got some issues back at home ?😂
His dog was cheating and wife ran away.@@justjbran4804
