_AWESOME!_ Thanks Steve. My lawn tractor had 1 tire that was completly flat this morning, and wouldn't keep any air in because it had separated from the rim. I was so bummed out until I found this video. This worked in like 1 minute. Thank you!
Pounded my head on the wall for 2 hours with a small tire that I could not get to seat and the rope trick worked in about 30 seconds. Thanks for the video. A+
I don't do alot of commenting on videos, but i thought i would say thank you for this trick. I've been on a tire for an hour now with no luck, and the rope trick came in like a champ!
Thanks, I've been using tie-down straps and bungee cords on my lawn equipment tires, but this will be simpler and faster. Just tonight, I was looking online for pneumatic bead expanders like my father had. I expected them to cost a few bucks, but they're well over $100.
I always visit this chanel when I have some issues with my small engines. And there are plenty of them. But today was the first time I couldn't fix it with Steve's help. Keep on going. Sometimes I watch only for fun because it's a great chanel.
Steve, your videos are always extremely helpful. Here's a tip I discovered... The front tires on my Kubota compact tractor would go flat after about a week and I found that air was escaping around the rim. Twice, I took care to ensure the rims were clean of all grease, dirt, etc., and inflated properly but still leaked. Not wanting to spend $30 + for bead sealant, I sprayed some CRC belt conditioner on the outer edge of the tires and have held air for six months now. This also worked on my trailer spare.
Great tip, Steve! I’ve used a ratchet strap in the past for motorcycle and golf cart tires, but the rope trick is so simple in comparison. Sometimes with real stiff walled tires I’ve removed the valve and used a rubber tipped nozzle on the air to fill faster and seat a difficult bead.
I rarely ever comment on videos, but i have to say thank you to Steve, worked like a charm in no time. The tire I used was so disformed and nothing but round and with the pump running, simultaneously rotate the tire and push the middle tread in with my thumbs, it filled right up. Thanks again Steve! And all the people making bad comments, probably dont know what side of the screwdriver to use anyway. Dont listen to them hoss. Great video.
@@StevesSmallEngineSaloon Not to dig a vid up from the past but I had the same problem as the original poster. Used a motorcycle strap and was done in minutes. Thanks!
I was a bit skeptical when you started with the Busch, but the trick worked liked an f-ing charm ! Thanks, I had been jerking around for 1/2 hour trying to seat the tire with no success prior to watching the video.
I had a wheel barrow wheel that was leaking air around the rim. It would go flat in about 3 minutes. I cleaned up the area around the rim of the wheel that was cRusty and attempted to put the tire back on. The temperatures dropped over here and the bead did not want to seat being so ridged from the cold. So I used fire and that worked beautifully except I couldn't get the air into the tire soon enough so the bead would back off becuz the air would contract and broke the seal once again. But I also noticed the tire was pretty warm and malleable. So I wondered and went back to using your method using a rachet strap instead of rope and to my delight it sealed it well enough for me to put air into it and confetti was flying everywhere. (meaning I was successful and actually this whole scenario just played out just last night) I've actually been using your method for decades. It's very very handy. Thanks for putting this up!
Man, you saved me again. Your channel is gold. The tire on my riding mower went flat and the bead was unseated from one side. I attached ratchet straps to the edge that was unseated with some tension and BAM it allowed the bead to be seated. Now I can mow while I wait for the replacement tire to come in.
I have to say thanks!! 2022, February.....we're in the middle of the biggest snow this season and my snowthrower had a flat! I got it fixed thanks to you my friend.
My front tire came off rim today and I used a bungee cord to get the bead to hold. Your tip was great just 3 hours late. I'm pooped. Hardest part was jacking up the mower. Thanks for all the great tips. Have a great werk.
Thank you. I spent 2 hours trying to get mine to seat. I finally realized someone on RUclips had to know an easier way or "trick" to do this. Your help was invaluable and again thanxs for taking the time to share your knowledge
Thanks for the advice on the new tire. I have used that method for a long time. I also put a small bead of grease around the rim to make the tire grip the rim a bit better. It works for me.
Wow, you probably just saved my life. I was gonna do the “ether” method that I seen on RUclips. I’ve been watching your videos I said you know what trust in this guy🙏
Just did a 12" tire using a tie down strap and a metal rod... With a tire that's sat around for a year and wasn't close to sealing up on its own. Worked perfectly first try! Oh, clean up the wheel rim so you get a good seal.
This was extremely helpful, I had to do this with one of my riding mower's front tire and it works!!! I sprayed some soapy water on the tire at the bead and that helped to seat the bead to the rim.
I used a ratchet strap and your technique worked great on a tire that had gone flat enough to break the beads. The tire was on a push leaf blower only used for a few weeks each fall. I was prepping it for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, I learned why the tire went so flat- a small split in the tread. Oh well, learning was achieved! Thank you. Your videos are well done.
I have this problem with my snow thrower tires which the tires are away from the wheel and not filling up with air - now looking at this video of yours I am going to give this a try using the rope method - sure hope it works like your tire did - thanks for this tip .
Watching your video got my attention when seeing the beer going on tells all , What do I mean I always trust a man who drinks a good cold beer cheers, Keep the good work up
Very smart! I did the same thing yesterday with an old belt. Just pulled it as tight as I could. Luckily I didn't have to take the tire off to fill it.
The KISS method! Keep It Simple Stupid! Works every time. There’s enough detail to understand and not too much to confuse. Doesn’t hurt that it’s set up and edited well. From one Steve to another GOOD JOB!
Before my computer even "went to sleep", with your brilliant technique, got it done and mounted in a few minutes. Snowmobile trailer ready to go. Thanks!! Awesome vid. Time for a beer!
I am glad that you showed me how to do the tire inflations with a string and strew driver. Because I generally take my lawnmower tires to a tire shop. Now I can do it myself. Thank you so much 👍🏽👍🏽
Great videos Steve! What a pain it is to remove and replace tires. I would add that sometimes it helps to remove the valve stem needle to initially seat the bead, I even use a simple blow gun with a rubber nozzle on the valve stem to get the pressure needed. Once it seats add the needle valve back in and inflate. Good luck guys!
Steve, your tips are ingenious. It looks like the rope tip should work nicely with the tire on the improvised chainsaw wrench-vice tire change tip you showed on the tube replacement video.
Kick ass. The ratchet strap works great. Just watch out when u release the ratchet. Little to much air. Came back n bit me. Tires full of air. Thanks!!
Ok.... this is genius. I just found my snowblower tire is off its bead and, with this method, I don't even have to take the wheel off the blower! Thanks Steve!
Thanks Steve ! And that method works well on car tires as well,as I found out just now when I dragged my car out of a snowbank, sideways, and popped the inside of one tire bead off. [ The back side of mag wheels often don't have a very secure seat on the tire at the best of times.] I used your rope method and it worked awesome ! !
OMG I've been taking this to the tire shop every time and they hate me for taking these small cheap Chinese tires can't wait to try it on my girls small ATV thanks
personally i like the starter fluid trick i have a air hose end that locks to the stem so that when i light the starter fluid and the beads are set i am automatically filling the tire with air has worked for me on a 6 inch lawnmower tire and a 72 inch wheel loader tire
This is only if you have an air compressor. Try taking out the valve and giving it the full blast. That mostly works, especially on small mower tyres. If it doesn't, go for the rope trick! . I see Canadians spell tyre with an 'i" too. Another great tip.Cheers
Tried that method on a new tire no go it did bring it close enough. Had to use break cleaner and a torch. Set it instantly. A lot of these new tires are compressed for shipping and the sidewall sags terribly.
This only works if your bead is pretty close to the rim. I just bought new tires and the bead is about two and a half inches away from the rim. I'm having to put the tire on a stand and jump on the rim to seat one side and then pull the tire to The other side by hand to help it come closer to the rim. It's a major pain.
Steve, I enjoy your videos very much. I have 3 ideas for videos. 1.using the (oregon electric bench stone type grinders to sharpen the cutters on the chain.2. Sharpening carbide chain saw teeth. 3 sharpening the chain to do rip cuts. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with us.
