Simon still does that sexy cross bit. As a front man, as a lyricist, as a vocalist……SO F!CKING UNDERRATED.
THIS is the reason for Duran Duran!!!!
That John Taylor bassline... 😍 I still love it to this day 💯
I love John Taylor
Aria pro II SB 1000 👍😉
Me too!
The critics and haters constantly referred the them as "pretty boy teeny bopper band"... John Taylor, a bassist underrated laid some incredibly funky bass lines, Andy Taylor was a fiery guitarist, Roger Taylor was an extremely solid drummer, Nick Rhodes may not have been a keyboardist along the likes of Elton John or Howard Jones but he created a sound of layers and layers that fit the music while Simon Le Bon's lyrics were at times left for the listener to decipher.... One of the 80's bands that were better live than on record. Get them where they rightfully belong: ROCK -N- ROLL HALL OF FAME!!!
you're on point on everything except for Nick. composition-wise he's on top. Check the chords for The Seventh Stranger
Nick Rhodes more of a tapes and sequencer keyboardist than a pure keyboardist. Most of his comtributions were mostly pre recorded and add in some sine wave keys in live performances.
@@lifecycles6368 nah u dont understand things
Duran Duran since Hollywood Birmingham 1978...❤
@@paolofcb I've seen Duran Duran perform live. I have seen The Jackson Victory Tour. Comparing the two concerts is like comparing a match to the sun. Duran Duran's show left The Jacksons' in the rearview mirror.
One of my favourite Duran songs! Love Andy and Johns guitar work in this. I’m only 25, but they’re one of my favourite bands ever! Thanks mum and dad, who lived through the 80’s as teens! 😃
I love the track Andy did with Power Station for the end of credits song for the movie-Commando called We Fight For Love.
Me too
"One" of my favorite bands as a teenager in the 80's -- just Wow. I'm so glad that this was what I was obsessing about as a kid. Serious musicianship.
That makes two of us!! I remember having a huge crush on Simon. I still adore him❤️🥰!!!!!
Very good
Everybody talks about the Bass (which is brilliant, of course). But listen to the guitarwork!! So many different styles in one song. Creativity as its best.
Yeh, Andy Taylor's guitar work is the standout for me. Just brilliant.
The Bass line by John Taylor is simply Amazing!!
It wasn't until many years
later that I realized this. Completely underrated.
Yeah I dont believe he s a british lad, too much funky.
Agreed. Have always loved his bass playing. As a rock musician I have always sought after a bass player like John, but that's a high bar to reach!
Very true! He's brilliant!!!
It's the solo section where he keeps the Emin groove happening but keeps accentuating the C# on beat 4; very clever accent and really makes the section pop.
Best version because of Simon's voice and Roger's snare sound. Powerful and beautiful
Agree, most badass snr sound of the ´80´s!
Simons voice is simply brilliant, saw them live a few years ago in Australia, they sounded amazing.
*_Duran Duran forever_* 💪
wenever forever
Musical genius! Visionaries! Brilliant! Duran Duran
Para sempre
Forever! Pra sempre!
UNFORGETTABLE!!! THEY WILL ALWAYS ROCK!!!!!
Play that funky bass, play that funky bass John Taylor! Can’t wait for the next world tour!
there is an endless list of great and very cool tracks by Duran Duran, but "New Religion" is simply brilliant
Brilliant is an understatement... this DD song performance is over the top. Each one in the band shines in their own way, and brighter when put together. Special mention to Simon's "rapping", way ahead of its time.
Man I miss Andy in this band! He added so much edge to their sound. The original had perfect chemistry together that made them the best and most popular band that hit the face of this green earth.
Exactly that!! Andy's guitar work adn the filters he used, gave the guitar sound such a distinct feel and sound.
DD makes no sense without Andy. And the incredible thing is that his guitar was often way back in the ground, filling the groove perfectly without ever being annoying. Sadly he didn't keep that style later in the 90s.
This year Andy returns to DD, to make a few songs in the new album!!! . I think the same ❤
Sooo sad
Roger who i like,i miss Andy too. Teddy norppa IS Rody its to them.
This is my favorite era of Duran Duran! Simon was sublime. Loved them all so much!
An absolute masterpiece. JT is killing it, and Andy's riffs are on freaking fire. Kids, this is what live music sounds like. Grow up.
Oh believe me I know,I know
Another Great from Duran Duran!! Another bad ass bass line from John!!!
What a great bassline!
I'm covering with my bass some DD songs :)
@@GrooveAndLeisure I have both his SB-100's. One is in Oak and the other is his black one from this Video. I also have his Phillip Kubicki in black signed by Phillip Kubicki himself.
@@jdj946 I have not JT basses but I love play his basslines...

Phew.... I missed the ass first time so I just thought u said it was bad, would’ve needed to correct you, but after a second read through I saw it. Couldn’t agree more chief
Such a great Duran Duran track, really underrated. Love that synth line.
Ok, I was a kid when this rocked my world. They never recreated this level of style, performance and all around...handsomeness lol! This was perfection and it's wonderful that it's documented for all time.
Good song i like all músic and màgic dancers
That baseline! Together with the rythm of the lyrics has always been intoxicating! One of my alltime faves! Thanks for the remastering of As the lights go down. Takes me back.......
@Erika, I think you look pretty on your page, I don't normally write on the comment section but i think you deserve the compliment. I just thought i should say Hi and hopefully see where it'll lead. Hope you're doing fine ?
That bass is epic..Duran Duran 💗💜
This rhythm section is airtight as a drum, especially for a song as esoteric as this one.
one of the best song of dd in my opinion.
If only we could go back in time! Best band of the 80’s by far…. Loved them then & still love them now! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Strong contender for overall, best DD song. Hard to argue with that third verse before the final chorus. That one punches hard...."in regulation hats and scarves and things." Army Majors, mean cool truth, etc.... 🔥
What's the lyric about?
Still surprises me the amount of comments on here describing DD as underrated. The one thing they ain’t is underrated and the teeny bopper comparison died in the eighties. R&R hall of fame has surely put pay to these comments
El bajo de John es increíble en esta canción!!!! les amo a los 5❤️. Saludos desde Barcelona 🙋
They should play this at their upcoming Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame performance with Andy Taylor. It's so catchy with a driving beat. How you can you not like it.
I never get tired of watching this! Love Simon and his tambourines! ❤️
*To me, this is the best Duran Duran song ... Ever !!!!*
When you know that guys had 22-23 years old in that time this song is away beyond time in anyway. Just art.
They were 21-25 years old.
Duran duran best band of the world
Duran Duran in all their glory, like young gods............ but care you? they are STILL kicking in 2020! and they still have it!
one of the best song they made!
Not for nothing, millions of Moonwalkers will disagree and curse me I don't care: Duran Duran put on a far better show than Michael Jackson.
This is art. Andy is using his little Marshall combo amp placed behind the scene. Who would have guessed? Best live sounding band of the ´80´s.....
Andy Taylor making his guitar weep 0.37 to 0.53 absolutely amazing playing, proud to be a Geordie just like this guy 😊
Simon so beautiful and theatrical!!
Duran will never ever make a song like this again. Unfortunately. This is just pure Magic!
All their songs are magic.
Have you heard Danse Macabre? It’s surprisingly funky with the killer bass tracks
John!! His bass!! Whoooh! Can't even type, hot flash to 14 and in love!!
Duran Duran rules 2019..
Duran Duran still rules in 2020. 😁😎
@@terrybeal2252 and 2021!
It's 2021
And still the best bass line ever
Simon John Charles LeBon, thank you for your influence. The full immersion of your energy has always been of great benefit, I feel.
Charles who?
@@skyscraper7474 its le bons middle /nickname I think or what he's also known as
@@lukejohn1277 oh, sorry, i didn t know 👍
@@skyscraper7474 In fact his bandmates use to call him Charlie, as he 's said in the past :-)))
Fab and intense
The wave of years .. floods me..every bit is good now as it was then. Fuck...just so fucking bad ass!!
My favorite from the ARENA album. Love the original, but love this version more! I pump it every time
What a incredible vocalist , great voice
Just saw them this past Sunday the 3rd in Canadauga, NY. While they didn't play this song...they did play many others from this time period...including Lonely In Your Nightmare. They still sound just as good as they did then. This tour (83-84) was my first time seeing them...
The best Tour ever!
My absolute fave track from Rio, full of energy and brilliant live. Not too keen on the studio footage slotted in but still amazing.
THIS IS MY HEAVEN! !
Duran Duran and A-Ha, two of the best bands ever.
And Black Lace.
@@welshlad6427 didn’t they sing that trash song agadoo. One hit wonder?
It’s me favorite band...
they are timeless 😉
Utterly fantastic song!! This is a Rock-Pop- International treasure!! There is no other song quite like it and it works!!
This is not just my favorite DD song but one of my favorite all time songs period. Such a beautiful song all around. Thank you DD
Three top bands ever Japan, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran
.. ❤️
Japan.
Absolutely ❤️❤️❤️
He (Andy) does do the good guitar in this one, doesn't he?
Love it!
Duran Duran, Tears for Fears,Depeche Mode
Some of Simon's best singing on this live version. Raspy and intense. Kind of like Paul Di'anno.
So much this.
@@julietafierrolanouguere Thank you! Di'anno fan?
@@ColtraneTaylor of course. Even Blaze. Not a Dickinson hater, but I prefer Iron Maiden’s early work.
@@julietafierrolanouguere I like Blaze too. Always great to see a Duran-Maiden fan!
One of the fewest whose live version is waaaay better than de studio
Definitely...Then he was not singing, living. Then he was passionate about singing.
This song is such a jam.
To Simon, Nick, John, Roger and Andy, what more can I say that has hasn’t been said, Simply Took my breath away!!!!
The Fab Five forever!
"I've been now sauntering
Out and down the path sometime
Come on, it takes me nowhere,
which I knew"
Faces everywhere
Pulling grins and signs in things
Telling me not there man, it’s no go
Bass line owns. The synrh is sick AF!
Ma préférée de Duran Duran.

I love the bass on this track!
One of the best songs ever written in my opinion. And that base line! It's so sexy!
Best. Album. Track. Ever. Period. (Well, "The Chauffeur" comes close.)
Grazie " Duran Duran" per condividere questo bel brano e stupenda interpretazione ★ Complimenti e Applausi!! @ Buona domenica!! ♪•♪
Probably as a 8 year old, this and The Wild Boys were my favourites. At that age you like things by instinct. At my current "rational" self, I adore the war anthem intensity of the first and supernatural meets psychological with the evocative keys of Nick. Added to that, when two Gemini come together in a band prepare for heavy emotions!🎉🎉🎉
So epic back in its day...this is almost 40 years old!
I can't help myself it's a neeeeeew upload. My favourite song off Rio, the lyrics are so addicting, I don't wanna know how many times I've listened too it.
This song New Religion can express the most Duran Duran's music concept.
Masterpiece
Wow tremendo, increíble el bajo.
Best John Taylor s performance from this live!
Absolutely love, love, this New Religion version, especially the moment 4:02
Una de mis canciones favoritas de duran duran ,gran sonido yuna interpretacion grandiosa de Simon le bon, excelente grande magnifico magestuoso increible etc.

Just so you are aware.... I was born in the same hospital as Simon, share the same star sign and erm yes I just think Duran are fantastic ❤❤❤
I think I could watch Simon all day.......
The concert was at Maple leaf gardens in Toronto, Ontario
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ah, the memories of watching this a hundred times over back in the 80's. Watching it again since then and it takes me right back.
Oh Simon... you were so wonderful. Time is cruel.
How is it cruel? He is still amazing
Best band ever
