I just bought a brand new full set GP Laureato 42mm Chrono Blue Dial for less money than a Rolex 36mm OP is going for on the grey market!! These watches far exceeded my expectations and they are just spectacular in every way!!
I have always loved the Laureato, and thought it a great buy if one is after a high end model with integrated bracelet. It's not as hyped as AP or PP, but offers a lot of value for what it is at this price point. My preference, though, is for the 38mm model, especially in its chronograph declination.
No negative reply, just praising. It is a perfect watch. Even the size 42mm is spot on. Blue dial is awesome. I will set it on my wishlist, next to a Zenith Defy.
I love that dial pattern contrasting with the simplicity of the hands. Very small detail but I really like the font of the date-wheel too. He should be proud to wear it. Stunning.
Bravo ☀️I am a collector and hobby dealer in Singapore and I specialize in only GP laureato. This video is simple and informative. The Laureato is iconic and blue, black, white dials are all special in their own ways. The Heritage (limited to 225 pieces) is a grail watch that will appreciate in value. If you want to know more and just exchange notes about the laureato, you can reply here and we will find a way to connect. Best wishes ☀️
I really like this and it’s been on my radar since this newest version was released. I may go with the 38mm if I do but my only concern is how it will look once it’s got scratched or worn in a bit. A full on sports watch will often look better the more beaten up it gets but I worry that my enjoyment of this watch would be hampered by my paranoia 😂 Ps I genuinely prefer this to the AP/PP similar styled offerings... but it would annoy me that nobody would believe me 😄
Gorgeous watch and congratulations to Simon 👏. How to sell a watch 6:35 Sir this has a ‘Clous de Paris’ dial, or as you English speakers say, it has a ‘Hobnail’ dial. I know which one would make me buy it 😂
Depending on the humidity here in Hong Kong, slightly above 6.5 in and slightly below 7 in. This 42mm wears a bit "big", some people may think a 38mm would have fit a tiny bit better.
I love it. I wish it would have a version with a gold bracelet and a blue dial, but the blue the color of the chronograph blue (which is darker than this). I will buy it in an instant
thank you for the video. Do my eyes play trick on me or the bezel looks like its been polished many times (i know its new)? is that the look or it just looks like that through the lens? (ive never seen them "in the flesh")?
Hey there, would you mind sharing which store you bought this in HK? Looking to pick up a 38mm for myself! Lot of stores have the 42mm but that’s too big for my wrist. Thanks
@@UptickWatchReviews Thanks for the reply! I actually visited the store a few days ago but seems the 38mm has been discontinued and they are out of stock :( beautiful watch tho! This might end up being my first big watch purchase. Great video!
Hi, when I first read your comment, I had a doubt on the symmetry and balance of the links after my 2nd readjust, I had to look again at both the video and the watch. I can actually balance it on one finger with 7 links hanging on each side with ~2mm difference on 1 of the link (half link @ 12). I wonder if I would swap them (1 half currently @ 12 against full link @ 6) if the overall balance on my wrist would be even better.
@@marktrett1652 Hi , I didn't changed anything for now but I may end up asking the AD to move that half link @ 12 to put it @ 6 and vice versa for 1 full link @ 6 to 12 as a quick experimental fit fine-tuning. I have also noticed that my actual wrist is bit asymmetrical (underlying bone), not sure if it's a side effect of breaking my elbow 15+ years ago on the slopes in Switzerland...
Not sure that would be clever to share the exact figure here. I still have the intention to buy few more there. Many factors involved, including spending history, VIP status (most HK ADs have tiering system), the brand you are purchasing, etc. In all case, ADs will always insist to keep this secret (even if most Hong Kong watch enthusiasts know). It can be "substantial"... I won't break the "omerta", someone else might ;-)
Great casual discussion around this oft-misunderstood watch. I think it's a very beautiful design that holds its own amongst the other '70s integrated classics. I prefer it to the Nautilus and it is a sportier, more versatile piece than the RO. I definitely prefer it to the Overseas. I'd prefer the 38 and I'm not wild on the 'GP' logo, but otherwise tres cool.
My watch of the year 2022 with the green dial. Not flashy, just beautiful. Wears like silk. It plays in its own League.

Recently picked up the green dial from Wempe. It wears amazingly well despite my smaller wrist size.

A very beautiful timepiece!

Fantastic watch, really love the laureatu. I own the skeleton version and I absolutely adore it
Your channel always presents the watches I'm looking to buy. It's crazy
GP Laureato is my grail watch, just love the understated elegance of it. Now I have to decide, blue dial or white dial?
I like it too but also considering the grey 😄
Absolutely B L U E
Congrats Chief like I said she’s beautiful! Wear it in good health!
It’s a fantastic piece ..
Wow! So nice in blue!
Best Laureato vid I have ever seem I think

It's the perfect combination between royal oak and overseas
I own the 42mm blue and love it. 100m water resistance, swim with it all the time . A true luxury sports watch.

Great watch...was considering this vs Datejust 41.
I'd take a DJ over this any day of the week
That is amazing. The polished middle links would get torn up too much on my wrist.
Great watch, only watch connoisseurs would appreciate it- love it
I love Simon
Perfect watch! What is your wrist size?

@@simonsayswristwatch Thanks for replying. Looks nice on your wrist tho.
Beautiful timepiece! How much did he pay for it?
Ha if that’s the shop I been there to look at the gold chrono version! Good choice!
Did you put that beautiful watch on a chimp?
it's a pity that you didn't bring your aikon to compare with the laureato. really want to see the comparison of them.
Just gotta watch the videos back to back ;-) I actually had the Aikon close by but don’t like to compare when it’s not my watch
Aikon is nice to, but no comparison when you have it on the wrist. Have both. Aikon
over RO but not over this one. Just
stunning.
Great video. Just a question did you manage to get a discount? If you did what was the discount?
I love it. I wish it would have a version with a gold bracelet and a blue dial, but the blue the color of the chronograph blue (which is darker than this). I will buy it in an instant
im debating between in chrono vs 3 hands
Hello. Beautiful piece 👍
I was wondering if 42mm wouldn’t be too large for my 16.5cm wrist. What’s your wrist size (diameter and width)?
I tried that exact same one in Malta. Did he get a discount on it ?
Given my purchase history with that AD, yes I got a decent discount...
thank you for the video. Do my eyes play trick on me or the bezel looks like its been polished many times (i know its new)? is that the look or it just looks like that through the lens? (ive never seen them "in the flesh")?
Were you to get discount on it? If so, can you say?
Looks like it will be difficult to put the Maurice Lacroix back...
i have the same. so love it
White dial is the best
Considering a 38mm laureato or the new 2021 explorer as my next watch. What would be your suggestion?
Laureato all day
similar dial as your ML aikon, shame you were not wearing your aikon to compare!
It was actually right next to me but didn’t want to do the comparison thing

This is from Oriental on Queen’s Rd

Great video!
The Mrs will want one indeed - I got Mrs bumhead the skeleton one with the diamonds and a jazzy white rubber strap - very lady peacock 🦚
Needs a link added at 12 and one removed at 6 so the bracelet clasp sits in the centre of his wrist 👌

@@Simon-wl3nl did you change the links? If so has it improved the symmetry or made it worse/more uncomfortable? Superb watch by the way, great pick up

Does the bracelet pull hairs? I guess not as you would have complained about it.
Non en fait pas du tout. The bracelet is actually quite comfortable with no hair pulling at all.
初めまして
これは42㎜ですか?
初めまして。そうですね、42mm
@@UptickWatchReviews 42㎜は大きくないですか 手首何センチですか?
宜しくお願い致します。
Too big for your wrist, You may try with the 38mm, will feet perfectly
Sorry but only in my option that watch is too big for Simons wrist…
I hate to tell you, but this 42mm watch is obviously too big for you.
GP watches are so much better than Bad quality AP watches...talking from experience........AP watches are not reliable at all...Pure Garbage
For some reason I really dislike the name of this watch
Damn, that’s a punchy first comment ;-) I do wonder where the name comes from.
@@UptickWatchReviews I don't mean to be a hater! Love the channel and glad he's enjoying his piece
Lol, I know. It’s true that’s it’s not as evocative as Nautilus. Makes me think of the winner of a prize.
GP FOREVER BABY! See what I did there? That's the cool and legit way to say it. And at least the full name it isn't as bad as ODOMAH PEEGEY.
Not sure, Girard-Perregaux is a mouthful. The harder to pronounce the better they are
