All that to achieve 80 mph top speed for 90 minutes, transporting 2 people? At least regular helicopters will get you a decent distance and aren't the same speed as driving.

This would require either fixed or deployable wheels and the rotors would need to fold away to accommodate road usage without decapitating pedestrians or having the extending blades reach into other lanes given their length. It's as much a flying car as it is a flying train. This is just a quad helicopter. Nothing more. You can't just put an uncooked noodle on a plate and call it Fettuccine Alfredo...there's actually a few more steps involved.

There is a security error in its design. The propellers should have a security ring with insulating meshes from objects, since otherwise they would be walking guillotines.
That only work for small drones. Large drone or this flying car is way too heavy, and the impact force easily break the ring anyway, so it would be useless.
The jetson one is already available to the public to buy and has been shown on RUclips numerous times being flown in some fantastic locations by a real person actually sitting in it and controlling it. From what I see In this video it’s basically a large drone controlled remotely

Easy solution. Make it so rotors don’t malfunction, and even if they do, some other rotors can recover it to a point where it can land. It emergency lands when the battery runs out. Design the craft in a way which it can survive bird strikes, which a lot of companies already do.

I'm always about technological developments, but clearly, this flying car thing is still far from reality. Especially from safety perspective. It would be much quicker to be accepted by the market if they can manage to make it look less like a beheading machine. Wouldn't it make more sense to just take a modern helicopter (like the airbus dolphin) with full autopilot and switch the dual engines with electric ones? With the classic helicopter design you have 2 motors and 1 rotor. If one engine fails you have the second as backup. With the drone design you have 4 motors and 4 rotors. One fails and you crash. So with the drone configuration you have 4 motors and just one failing causes a crash and in the classic configuration you have 2 motors and only one needs to work. So the drone configuration even if easier to make is literally 8 times more dangerous.
They must have debut it there because the city is "popular" or to attract investors, not because the city is Innovative. If they were to debut the prototype in an innovative city, then their own city Beijing is the obvious choice here.

It did not make any CO2 while flying instead it made it while charging most likely in a poorer area.
