  • This beautiful little blue and gold macaw has had several homes in the past now it’s time to help her become a beautiful bird for her final home to enjoy!
    Over the next few weeks I will be documenting our progress together to share with you before she goes to her final forever home! She’s a really sweet parrot just has no understanding of training! Birds aren’t easy as we all know!

    She seems like a really sweet bird, even though she's not trained she's very tame, non-aggressive and quite tolerant. She really communicates a lot through body language first before turning to a nip, even then it was a gentle nip so it seems like she's been well respected by humans in the past. Plus, she's willingly eating veggies and fruit right of the bat despite having been on a nuts and seed diet before, that's a huge win! I bet she'll be able to find a wonderful forever home

    She lovely Craig, I'm working with a 24yr old male, he has not been touched in 15 years, not even out of his cage. finally letting me stroke and handle him more and now will step up on my arm , but is inconsistent .shall watch this one with interest and hopefully find some useful tips to help bring him on,
    Changing diet has been and still is a huge battle. Hopefully will get him a fellow friend in the future. Really want him to fly free, apparently he did free flight many years ago. Xx

    you can just see your patience & love for birds so well in this video. she's just a pretty bird & looks like she's feeling a bit unsure with everything but also looks to be a wonderful bird. great she's fine with giving you clear body language rather than her wanting to nip or bite at you.

    Honestly I would be a friends with you for a blueberry and strawberry 🍓! This was really interesting and the end is so sweet the vocal interaction! It's so interesting seeing creatures think and paying attention to their body language... I am not an expert so it's so cool to see you working and figuring it out together :) what a sweetie and I am so glad you are helping to make a better life for this beauty! It was amazing how much your help and bath made those feathers look so much better!

      TheHoipoloi a good way if you have something that bites to step back but it’s much easier for them to step up and forward, I would much rather get her confidently traveling to and onto my hand, if you keep your eye out for this weeks video you shall see her progress 😍 have you seen my other macaws?

      @@craigscrazyflock3810 We just let our birds do it the way they want. I'll be keeping an eye on your progress with this bird. Not wanting to start an argument but I noticed you do 'free-flying' and it's something I don't agree with, therefore I'll be picking and choosing your videos. Thanks.

    • @craigscrazyflock3810
      @craigscrazyflock3810  4 года назад +1

      That’s exactly it, if she wants to step up she can travel to me if she doesn’t then that’s fine and she can just chill, I appreciate we all have different views in life, I am not here to argue but spread love and joy with very happy birds 😊.

    • @SeabassFishbrains
      @SeabassFishbrains 3 года назад +4

      The oldest macaw alive today is over 130 years old, so no, she's a young wiper snapper! She's actually at an excellent age, parrots go through a really rough bluffing/puberty phase (sometimes called their "terrible twos") from around age 2ish to age 5 or even up to 7 where they really test the waters and can get quite aggressive if not trained well, this is the most common time for parrots to be rehomed as many people who buy baby birds are not prepared to handle the bluffing stage. Once that stage passes though, they tend to settle down into what will become their life-long personalities. So this bird is perfectly past the roughest stage of her life and has many good years ahead of her and you can really see that she has a very sweet personality.

    Love the care you have for these lovely Birds, my father had a Blue & Gold Macaw, who my mother got rid of< i had a lovely Childhood upbringing with her and had said inwould when im able to, have the correct enviroment for her Care, but she has gone my mother said she gave her to a person whomused to work as a Contractor at AERE in Harwell, Oxfordshire, id love to know hows shes doing and where she is to visit if possible, so far unable to get any info , me & my mother fell,out over her greedy and unpleasant attitude, for last 20myears (ive had enough last year and cut off contact ), entirely, I wondered how old this Bird is ?, as would like to see some again places where i seen in the past have all gone ?

    Nice girl, I picked up my blue n gold male about six weeks ago and not in good condition either, doing a lot of scratching around the neck from dry skin so some feather damage there, shocking diet id imagine. currently on antibiotic and probiotic. he wouldn't eat veg even if you pointed a gun at him, he knows what a biscuit tin is tho!!! hes in with the military girl and today they started preening each other. looking forward to more vids on your girl!

    Really enjoyed the video I have 2 parakeets and was wondering if you have any advice on how how to get them used to outside there cage and what type of food to use for training and how to train them to home to my hand? If you can answer this it will be very helpful

    • @dragonflamess0154
      @dragonflamess0154 4 года назад +1

      It depends on how scared they are. Do they freak out when you walk near the cage? If so then just step a bit closer to the cage each day. Eventually start to place your hands on the outside of the cage to try and get them used to you. Next see if they’ll take a treat from your hand through the bars of the cage. Once they’re used to this you can target train them through the cage bars. When they’re good at target training, you can open the door to the cage. Place a perch or table beside the cage and leave it there permanently . Then use the target training to lure them out of the cage onto the perch and back in again. Eventually you can use the target to get them to step up onto a stick or your hand. Hope this made sense. Good luck with your birds
